After the wedding, Sandra took charge of the company as her brother, Philip decided to spend a week with his wife.
Sandra was very serious with the job, she does every bit of the work and everything was going on well, all the workers loved her and always answered her at her call ready to do anything she sends them.
But Bertie behaves weirdly towards her though she smiles at her, but she feels that those smiles weren’t real. Sandra moved on with her life, but not until a day she saw something strange.
Sandra was in search of a document, she checked the whole table but couldn’t find it, she went ahead asking Bertie but she wasn’t with it. This prompted her to get the drawer checked where she came across a white neatly folded paper.
Sandra picked the paper, wondering what could be the content. Firstly she dropped it back but her conscience moved her to pick it up and check the content. She stared in disbelief as she read it, forgetting about what she was looking for.
“This can’t be true” Sandra repeated in a low tone, she stood up immediately and left the office through the door. She checked Bertie in her space if there was any sign of pregnancy in her, but everything was normal, she was working fine without a pregnancy sign.
“Guessed she must have cooked up a lie to threaten dear Philip”. Sandra thought as she shut the office door after she had entered, back to her seat, folded the paper neatly back, and kept it this time in her bag as she continued with the day’s job.
Sandra got home after the day's strenuous work, she crashed on the sofa, flinging her bag.
“Mum am back” Sandra song-liked.
“How was work darling”.
Shannon asked as she came to the living room, sitting on one of the sofas.
“Stressful, but I saw something out of my imagination”.
“What is that?”
“Hold on Mum” Sandra searched her bag for the neatly folded paper. She handed the paper over to Shannon when she saw it’ Shannon at first skimmed through it but later went back to read and read and read because she couldn’t believe what she saw,
“It's surprising right?”
“Are you kidding me?”
“Am not mum, but am surprised she has a flat stomach”
“How do we get the truth?”
Sandra moved closer to Shannon and whispered something in her hearing”.
“Hmm” Shannon nodded as a sign of approval
“Awesome, we got to do that very fast, but mind you, without Philip’s consent okay?”.
“Yes mum”
Finally, Philip resumed work and Sandra had to vacate the CEO’s office to another room in the company which would now be her permanent office.
“Welcome sir”.
“Good morning sir”
The workers greeted them as he stepped into the company building, Philip looked cool and different from the Philip of before, now cuter and looking relaxed. He entered his office, and immediately began his daily work when he heard a knock on his office door.
“Yes come in” Philip’s gaze was on his laptop when the person came in. She was Bertie, more beautiful today, but Philip was too sure she was in his office to cause another problem, but this time I won’t just let it go” Philip thought.
“What do you want from me, Bertie?
Philip said still focused on his laptop. Bertie sat down, and looked straight into Philip’s; but all that didn’t move Philip. Though she was surprised that Philip didn’t even make any move as if she was there. This isn’t the former Philip, Bertie thought, or has he gotten my trick?” she thought again.
Oh yeah my flat tummy, but perhaps some women are like that, they get pregnant without their tummy swell.
Philip pulled down his laptop a bit “Why are you here?” Philip’s voice was very harsh which scared Bertie, almost throwing her off her seat.
“Do you think I’ll allow you to trick me with your lies just as you have done before?”
“Philip I didn’t trick, and if you won’t mind that I will be stressing you we can go to the hospital for a medical checkup”.
Just then the office door opened, and their gazes diverted to the door opened ….
“Yes, I would love us to go to the hospital for a checkup”. Shannon who had entered said…….
