EPISODE 27
After dinner, Shannon had gone into her room, but hasn’t slept, sshe was with her phone, chatting with her friends abroad most especially Margaret. They were both doing video call when Shannon heard a knock on her room door.
“Hold Margaret, I’ll call you later”
“Okay, I’ll be expecting your call”
Phone cuts…….
“Yes who’s there?”
“It’s me Sandra, I want to have a word with you mum”
“Come in my daughter”
That was when Sandra opened the door, and shut it slightly behind her. Shannon sat on her bed resting her back on the head board, covering her body half with a pale brown duvet, right from the thigh to the fingers of the legs. Sandra sat beside her mother with her two legs almost touching the floor, dangling.
“Mum, I want to quit from working in that company”
“Why daughter?”
“Mum, I don’t want to be under anyone, I want to start my own business, I want to be self-employed and dependent, not in Nigeria but oversea”
Shannon heaved a sigh but it didn’t take her up to a minute before she said
“No problem, so when are you going and what do you plan to do?”
“Soonest, about what I’ll involve in, I will like get there first before I get to know what I will venture into”
“Okay no problem, when you are going notify me and also tell your brother”
“Definitely mum I do that”
“Okay, take care”
“Yes ma, thank you”

“Pauline did you take any suit case from my room?”
“No sir, I didn’t take anything from your room”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes sir”
“If I later find out it was with you, then you will not find it funny at all”
“Sack me, even jail me”
“You chose it and I promise to give you just that once I find out it is with you”.
“Help me call all the workers to assemble in front of the building”
“Yes sir”
Pauline informed everyone, and within few minutes, they all gathered outside the building.Different thoughts ran through the mind of all the workers, none had the idea why Philip would be calling them.
Philip soon can out of the house as everyone stood expectantly. He stood right in front of them all and began to address them.
“Good morning everyone”
“Good morning master” they chorused after which an immense silence took over. Philip then continued.
“Am quite sure that you are all surprised for this type of emergency call, isn’t it”
“Yes” they chorused
“Very good, you’ll know the reason for the sudden call. A suit case is missing in this building and it contains confidential information and documents with a huge amount of money, I’ll like the person with that suitcase to open up now or I get the police to raid the building”
Everyone stared at each other with innocent faces as if none of them had actually done it.
“Nobody right?... Okay then if no one is ready to talk. I shouldn’t have announced to you like this, I was meant to come and have your rooms check suddenly. But then I will do that right away”
Philip paused, brought his phone that was ringing from his pocket and checking the caller ID, he picked the call….
“Hello, you’re at the gate right?....... Okay hold on”
He cut the phone.
“Frank, go and open the gate for the inspector to enter”
“Okay sir” Frank replied, he trotted to the gate and opened it. He was surprised seeing policemen trouping into the compound.
Sheila came out of the building to know what was going on. Immediately she understood and played along to know nothing about it.
“Good morning inspector Peter, I have just informed them about the checking, so you’re free to go in now and check”.
“Thank you Mr. Philip, I am giving you the assurance that we would definitely find the person.
“I trust you, you can never fail in your job”
“Boys, go in and check, any black suitcase you find, bring it out” Inspector Peter ordered.
Immediately the check began, but after some minutes, they came out claiming to have found nothing.
