Chapter 22

Judas Ceaser is the brother to Ariadne and best friend of the city billionaire Jake Joseph. He always survived on his friend's money but no one knows his dark secrets. Ariadne enters his apartment one sunny afternoon, “Hello brother ” she said in a worried tone.
“What happened?” Judas asked as he sat down at his computer.

“Nothing!” She tried to sound casual but her voice was shaky. “It's just Jake, he doesn't give me enough attention like he use to”
. Her voice broke at the end.
“Oh, come on sis, you know I'm always here for you if he ever makes you feel uncomfortable.”
Ariadne nodded “I know, it's just that…He seems to be ignoring me lately. We've hung out every weekend since Christmas but when I get back home he never says anything”.
“Don't worry sis... I'll talk to Jake about it” he assured her.
Later that evening, Judas and Jake Met at an expensive penthouse restaurant. Jake ordered a glass of wine and looked over at Judas
“So what do you think Judas? Do you think that Ariadne is being serious or not?” Jake asked him.
“What do you mean by serious? What happened between you two?”
“I need some time alone, I need to clear off my head...from the crazy cop who is keeping track of me,” Jake explained. “Alex wants me ruined”.
“Alex?” Judas questioned “Why Alex?”
“I'll explain later…But anyway, Alex has been following me around all week like an obsessed stalker. I need some space to think”.
“Jake, are you sure there isn't something else going on with you and Ariadne? Maybe this guy just wants to help you.” Judas tried to reassure Jake.
“I appreciate the concerned brother but I have to deal with this myself, don't worry I won't let you down” Jake gave him a half-smile. “How long are you staying for? You can leave whenever you want, I don't mind”.
“I thought I would stay for dinner. I haven't had a good meal in three days, I am starting to lose it”.
The conversation turned toward different topics until their food arrived. The two men talked about various things, mostly work. At the end of dinner, Jake insisted on paying for everything and they both left together. When they got outside Jake stopped Judas, “Good night buddy”.
“Good night,” Judas said, as he walked away from Jake.
Moments later, Judas entered his apartment
and collapsed on the couch. He fell asleep right away.
When Judas woke up the next morning, he found himself on his couch, tangled in sheets. For a moment he wondered why he was lying on his bed until he remembered the night before. It was late at night when Judas decided to walk around the city. After walking past his favorite bar he realized it was too cold so he went inside, and ordered a drink, before sitting at a corner table. As he sipped his drink, he kept thinking about Ariadne and Jake. His thoughts kept coming back to the possibility of them being in a relationship; If he hadn't seen them in person, Judas wouldn't have believed it.
As he watched the people dancing on stage his phone rang He ignored it for a few seconds until it rang again. This time he answered “You better have a damn good reason for calling at this hour”
Maggie sounded worried but Judas kept wondering who this is.
“It's actually about us Jake” she started to explain. “I was feeling weak...so I went to the clinic and guess what?...am pregnant, we are gonna have a baby”.
Judas couldn't believe his ears, he cuts the phone. He tries to recollect how Jake's phone got into his hand, then he recalled swapping phones with Jake last night mistakenly.
“Damnit! How could I be so stupid!?, Jake's cheating on my sister? Jake has a lady pregnant outside for him?”
Judas took another sip of his drink before deciding to go home.
A figure in a dark hooded coat dashed down the alleyway and into the street as if it were a race. It was a tall, slender man with pale skin and black hair. He wore glasses and looked very much out of place in an otherwise seedy part of town. A scarf wrapped around his neck, hiding most of his face. He had on large sunglasses that covered half his eyes and he had an oversized hoodie pulled up over his head. Despite looking like he belonged in this part of town, his steps seemed lighter than those of a person who is used to the streets. His body language screamed ‘determined’ and he walked purposefully through the city streets as though he owned them.
The man didn't stop until he reached a dark corner of the alleyway. He stopped in front of a closed door. He took a deep breath, then lifted his hands and knocked four times. As he waited for someone to open up, he looked at his watch and frowned. This isn’t right, he thought. He had expected someone to be home by now. Maybe he has gotten lost?
The stranger continued to stand there waiting patiently when the lock turned and the door opened. Maggie appeared before him, “Who are you? What do you want?” She asked suspiciously. The stranger smiled at her, “Hello ma’am. My name is James. I’m here to see you.” maggie stared at the stranger suspiciously, “Why?” she said slowly.
The stranger stared at Maggie with his cold eyes, resting closer to the entrance.
“Because am a Killer...and I want you dead” the stranger uses a knife to gesture toward maggie and then pulls out a gun from behind his back. He takes one step forward into the apartment, raising the weapon threateningly.

Maggie immediately backs away, holding both hands up defensively. Her eyes widen and she starts to shake.
James watches silently as Maggie trembles before him. His eyes soften slightly and his posture relaxes.
He lowers the gun and walks forward, putting his left hand gently on Maggie’s shoulder. Maggie flinches but doesn't move, just stares in shock at James.
James turns towards the kitchen and gestured toward the kitchen table.
Maggie walks past him without saying anything. She goes to sit down at the table while James continues to talk quietly with her. When she gets comfortable she begins to ask questions.
“Why do you want me dead?”
“You would know after your body is found in a pool of blood, by tomorrow” he pulls the trigger and there is a sharp noise as the bullet goes off, missing Maggie. He lost his balance as Maggie Kicked his arm aside causing him to fall backward and hit his head on the wall. He groans, sitting up and rubbing the spot where he collided with the wall. He glances down at the knife in his hand. He puts it away and looks at Maggie.
Maggie stares at James in disbelief.
She stands up, grabs a chair, turns it so its legs are pointing towards James, and kicks him hard in the stomach. James falls onto the floor, groaning in pain.
Maggie turns around and runs into the bathroom slamming the door shut. James hears a lock click and he tries to pull himself to his feet but his injuries prevent him from getting more than halfway. He struggled towards the bathroom, slammed the door open, and collapsed to the ground.
“Open up! I’ll let you live if you come out right now” he called out. There was no response.
A flower vase collided with James' head sending him to fall to the floor, then he took out his dagger, stabbing his attacker (Maggie) repeatedly. He stabbed her in the chest, stomach, and face, then got back to his feet and continued stabbing her all over. Once he was done, he collapsed against the wall breathing heavily. Blood poured out of the stab wounds and pooled around her legs. He tried to push himself off the wall but could only manage to crawl a couple inches, and collapse again.
Then he struggled on his feet, as he crawled out of the house, with his face hidden under his hood.
