Chapter 30

Beavis appeared in the afterlife, with the angel Anaelle standing before him.
“Your work has been accomplished, Beavis, it's high time you move into Judgement and proceed to the Afterlife,” the angel said.
“Oh, thank you, Angel ” Beavis responded
“And I'm sorry to inform you of another death, one that has happened recently”
“Who is it?” Beavis asked
“It appears to be a human, a father that killed his son to prove his point to his neighbors”
“What?” Beavis replied shocked. “The father of that boy should be punished”
“I have already informed the authorities and they sent me like an executioner, I was able to find him...he has already decided to commit suicide”
“Then let’s not waste any more time.”
Anaelle stood there for a few seconds in front of Beavis, “You are not ready yet, you haven’t finished your work here”
“I can wait”
“This will be different Beavis because this is your first death”
“Why must I start my work now? It could wait until after I finish the job I was given by God”
“Because it's time to end things Beavis, so the final stage has arrived. The only question left now is how do you intend to do that?”
“I've decided to live my life to help save others”
Annabelle chuckled, “Great, exactly what I wanted to hear, we've concluded to give you a second chance”
“You mean to go back to my family,” Beavis said half excited
“No...not that, you are assigned as the Defierer, you travel across time and all nations to save the few chosen from the chaos written in their fates”
“You mean to say, I should be a Defy of Fate”
Annabelle nodded gently, before vanishing without Traces, leaving Beavis alone.
Beavis took a deep breath, closing his eyes tightly, before opening them and he vanished.
20 YEARS LATER
The city was busy with people walking on the streets and honks of vehicles all echoing the city’s noise, along with the constant chatter and music coming from various restaurants that line the street, while the smell of food filled the air, filling the minds with the memories of past meals, or just simply the aroma of food in general. In the distance, the ocean could be seen from afar and the sky looked blue and cloudless, the sun shining brightly on the sea surface, creating beautiful waves, almost like a painting on the ocean. The buildings of New York City were visible as well and the view was breathtaking.
On the subway, a lady stood patiently waiting for the train. She wore a white dress, her hair was short, and she was wearing red lipstick and red eyeliner. Her green eyes glowed with excitement as she waited for the train, hoping it wasn't late, since she hadn't eaten yet.
She looked at her phone as she tapped it against her hand, seeing several messages from her brother. She read the message, 'Hey Moll! I can't wait till I get home!' she laughed slightly, then put her phone away.
The doors opened with a loud screech, revealing the lady sitting on the bench. As she sat down she pulled out her bag, taking out her wallet and putting it on top of her backpack. Once she secured her purse she began searching through her bag and grabbed her wallet. Then she noticed someone approach the train and get inside, she frowned when she realized it was a familiar woman, one who she was really worried about.
The woman sat next to her, then a man dressed in a suit with a well-carved beard walked past. Both of them looked at each other, both knowing who the other one was, but neither of them moved nor made a movement. The train suddenly stopped, and the door opened, making both of them jump up. The woman hurriedly got off of the train, then quickly turned around to face the other woman, then the train doors closed.
'What the hell?!' the woman thought to herself, staring at the door in disbelief. The train continued moving again, and the woman sighed sadly. She put her hands in her pockets, feeling a small object inside.
She pulled it out from her pocket and examined it closely, finding it was a small wooden cross, engraved with the words "Forgive", written in elegant handwriting, with some kind of symbol on top. She carefully placed it back inside her pocket, then reached into her bag to grab her phone and check the time. It was 6:25 PM.
'I guess that explains why we didn't get anywhere with the investigation,' she thought to herself, placing her phone back in her bag.
Her train finally reached her stop and she quickly walked out. As soon as she stepped outside, she took a look around, noticing the same tall buildings and people everywhere, she quickly ran ahead of people, hoping to reach her destination in record time, “Hello Sarah ” a masculine voice called from behind
She turned to see a stranger, the man she met on the train who passed before her.
“How do you know my name? who are you?”
“I traveled a long way, you are in great danger and only I can help you...and my name is Beavis”
