Chapter 19

Felix's POV
I saw Aiden standing outside my house, his eyes scanning the driveway, clearly waiting for Jenna. He looked restless, like a man with unfinished business. My grip on the steering wheel tightened. He has no right to be here. Jenna's mine now, and he needs to understand that.
Jenna was asleep in the passenger seat of my car, her head resting gently against the window. I glanced at her peaceful face for a moment, her features soft in the dim light. It wasn’t the time to wake her up, not with Daniel waiting outside. She didn’t need to deal with this. So, I stepped out of the car quietly, shutting the door without a sound, and made my way toward him.
He spotted me immediately, his expression hardening as I walked toward him.
“Aiden,” I called out, my voice low but firm. He turned his head in my direction, his jaw clenched. There was something tense about his posture, like he was gearing up for a confrontation.
“What the hell are you doing here?” I asked coldly, standing between him and the house. My body language was clear—I wasn’t going to let him get anywhere near Jenna.
Aiden’s jaw clenched. “I need to talk to her. You can’t keep her away from me, Felix.”
I let out a sharp laugh, stepping closer to him, my voice lowering. “Keep her away? She’s with me now. She chose to leave you. You don’t get to show up here like nothing happened and demand to see her.”
“She didn’t choose you,” he shot back, his voice rising. “You manipulated her into this, using whatever sick bet you made. She deserves to know the truth.”
I took another step toward him, narrowing my eyes. “You’re one to talk about manipulation, Aiden. You cheated on her. You threw away everything you had with her, and now you think you can waltz back into her life? It’s pathetic.”
Aiden’s eyes flashed with anger. “I made a mistake, I admit that. But I love her, Felix. You don’t. You’re just using her as part of your twisted game.”
My fists clenched at his words, but I kept my cool. “Love? Is that what you call what you did to her? You didn’t care about her, not really. You only want her back now because you can’t stand the thought of losing.”
Aiden glared at me, fists tightening at his sides. “You’re wrong. I do care about her. More than you ever will.”
I shook my head, smirking. “You don’t get it, do you? Jenna’s better off without you. You’ve done enough damage. So do yourself a favor and walk away.”
He opened his mouth to argue, but I cut him off before he could say anything.
“Go, Aiden. Before Jenna wakes up and sees you here. She doesn’t need this. She’s finally starting to move on, and I’m not going to let you ruin that.”
For a moment, I thought he might actually listen. He hesitated, looking toward the car, where Jenna was still sleeping soundly. But then his resolve returned, his eyes burning with determination.
“I’m not leaving until I talk to her,” Aiden said, his voice steady. “She deserves to hear the truth, from me. Not from you.”
I stepped closer, my voice lowering into a dangerous tone. “You really think she’ll take you back after everything? After Clara? You’re wasting your time.”
Aiden stared back at me, unflinching. “We’ll see about that.”
I clenched my jaw, irritation boiling inside me at his arrogance. Aiden had always been like this—cocky, self-righteous. The way he spoke, the way he looked at me like I was the problem, made my blood boil. Without thinking, I grabbed him by the collar, pulling him close. My voice was low, cold.
“You don’t know anything,” I growled, tightening my grip. “So stop trying to act like you have the right to lecture me.”
Aiden’s eyes flared with anger, but he didn’t back down. His voice came out firm, dripping with contempt. “You think you’re so much better? You’re just as bad, Felix. Don’t pretend you’re some hero in all this.”
I could feel the tension crackling between us, the kind that made my fists itch to knock some sense into him. But I kept my composure, even though I was on the verge of losing it.
“You had your chance,” I spat. “You had her, and you blew it. So don’t come here acting like you care now.”
Aiden’s face twisted in frustration, but there was something else there too—desperation. “I made mistakes, but Jenna deserves the truth. You’ve manipulated her into this whole situation, Felix.”
I scoffed, pushing him back with force. “Truth? You’re one to talk about that after everything you did. You lost her the moment you cheated on her, Aiden. She doesn’t want you anymore.”
Aiden steadied himself, but the fire in his eyes hadn’t dimmed. He straightened his jacket, brushing off the wrinkles like my words didn’t matter, but I could tell they had hit him where it hurt.
“This isn’t over,” he said, his voice calm but threatening. “I’m going to fix this. I’m going to make things right with her.”
Before I could respond, Jenna stepped between us, her expression a mix of confusion and frustration. She’d heard enough.
“Enough!” Jenna’s voice cut through the tension like a knife, her gaze darting between the two of us. “What the hell is going on here?”
I loosened my grip on Aiden’s shirt, stepping back. Jenna didn’t need to be in the middle of this, but Aiden wasn’t backing down, and neither was I.
“Jenna, we need to talk,” Aiden said, his voice softening as he turned toward her, completely ignoring me now.
Jenna crossed her arms, glaring at both of us. “What could you possibly say that would make this any better, Aiden?”
I stood there, watching as Aiden tried to plead his case. I could see it in his eyes—he thought he could still fix things. But he was wrong. He had lost her long ago, and nothing he said now would change that.
“Jenna, I know I screwed up, but you need to know what really happened,” Aiden started, desperation creeping into his voice.
But Jenna just shook her head, her face hardening. “It’s too late for that, Aiden. We’re over. You need to accept that.”
I couldn’t help the small smirk that tugged at my lips as I watched the reality hit him. Jenna had moved on, and nothing he could say would change her mind.
Aiden’s face fell, his confidence faltering for the first time. He glanced at me, then back at Jenna, as if trying to find the right words, but they didn’t come.
“I… I just wanted to make things right,” he muttered, but it was clear even he didn’t believe that anymore.
Jenna sighed, her voice softening slightly. “I don’t hate you, Aiden. But I’m done with you. You need to let go.”
Aiden stood there, frozen for a moment, as if the weight of her words was too much for him to process. Then, without another word, he turned and walked away, leaving me and Jenna standing alone in the driveway.
I watched him disappear into the distance, and for the first time that night, I felt a sense of victory. But as I turned to Jenna, that triumph quickly faded. She wasn’t looking at me with gratitude or relief—she looked tired, worn down by everything that had happened.
“Come on,” I said, placing a hand on her back gently. “Let’s get you inside.”
Jenna didn’t say anything, just nodded, and together we walked back into the house, leaving the past behind. Or at least, trying to.
