Chapter 31

Felix's POV
As I drove up to my house, exhausted from a long day at work, I noticed someone standing by the gate. Squinting through the dim evening light, I realized it was Aiden. What is he doing here again? Waiting for Jenna, no doubt.
This guy has no boundaries. I clenched my jaw, feeling a familiar irritation rising in my chest. This wasn’t the first time he’d tried to corner her, and it was getting on my last nerve.
I pulled up to the driveway, killed the engine, and stepped out of my car, my eyes locked on Aiden. He glanced at me, his expression unreadable but smug in that way that always grated on me. He straightened up, arms crossed, as if this was some kind of power move.
“What the hell are you doing here?” I asked, my voice low but firm. I didn’t bother hiding my annoyance.
Aiden smirked, brushing off my hostility as if it didn’t bother him at all. “I’m here to see Jenna. She’s still not answering my messages, and I think we need to talk.”
Of course. It's always about Jenna with him. I took a step closer, refusing to let him intimidate me. “Well, she’s not interested in talking to you. Whatever you had, it’s over. Move on.”
Aiden’s eyes flashed with something—anger, maybe. “You think you can just take my place? Like nothing ever happened between us?”
I scoffed, shaking my head. “She’s not some prize you get to claim, Aiden. She makes her own choices, and clearly, she’s choosing to distance herself from you.”
For a moment, Aiden’s confident demeanor faltered, but it was quickly replaced with a cold glare. “You don’t know anything about us. You think you’ve won, Felix? She’s still in love with me. I know her better than you ever will.”
His words stung, but I kept my composure. "Didn’t Jenna already tell you to stay away from her?"
Aiden laughed mockingly. "Do you really think you're her boyfriend now, Felix? You're not even together yet."
His remark made me inhale sharply, but I forced myself to stay calm, not letting him see that he’d gotten under my skin.
"So, what if we’re not? Why, do you still think you're her boyfriend? Aren’t you supposed to be satisfied with Clara by now?" I shot back, my voice cold.
"Leave Clara out of this," he said, his tone sharp. "And don’t pretend you’re some saint, Felix. You’ve been playing with women’s feelings just to get attention, using their emotions to keep the spotlight on you."
"Really?" I replied icily. "Isn’t that your game? Don’t project your own tricks onto me."
Aiden laughed again, though it was a humorless sound. "Seriously, Felix? Are you really going to act innocent? Don't forget—you’ve been a womanizer too."
My jaw clenched at his words. Sure, I’d made mistakes in the past, but I had my reasons. After what happened with Aira, I wanted to distract myself, to move on, and maybe even hurt others the way I’d been hurt. But it never worked. Unlike Aiden, I never played with someone’s heart just for the thrill of it. He was the reason Aira was suffering, and he didn’t even seem to care.
“You don’t get to judge me, Aiden,” I said quietly, my voice low but firm. “At least I know when to stop. You just keep hurting people, pretending it’s all for love. But we both know that’s a lie.”
For a moment, Aiden was silent, his smirk fading. He wasn’t used to being called out, and it showed. But then, just as quickly, his bravado returned.
"Jenna will see through you, Felix," he said darkly, his gaze hardening. "She’ll realize you’re no better than me."
I didn’t respond. There was nothing left to say. Aiden was playing games, trying to drag me into his mess, but I wasn’t going to let him. Not this time.
"Do you think I’m a womanizer? What about you? You think you're innocent?" I threatened, my voice low but laced with menace. "I know more about you than you think."
I saw the shift in his expression, a brief flicker of uncertainty that I knew hit him where it hurt.
"When will Jenna realize you're just using her?" he spat out angrily, his words sharp. "You're no better than me."
"Then tell her," I said coldly, the challenge clear in my tone. "But make sure you tell her all your secrets too."
His jaw tightened, his composure cracking. "What the hell are you talking about?"
I couldn’t help but smirk, lightly touching my lips in mock contemplation. "Oh, don’t tell me you’ve forgotten," I teased. "Amnesia already?"
"You’re out of your mind! What are you even talking about?!" he yelled, his frustration boiling over.
At that moment, I noticed Jenna approaching, though she hadn’t seen us yet. A plan began to form in my head. This was my chance. I could turn this in my favor, make it seem like Aiden was the villain. He already was, but now Jenna needed to see it firsthand.
I glared at Aiden, leaning into the act. "Because you’re worthless."
That was enough to push him over the edge. With a burst of anger, Aiden swung his fist, landing a punch on my face. I stumbled back, falling to the ground, clutching my lip as I felt the blood starting to flow.
Jenna’s scream pierced the air. "Aiden! Stop!"
She rushed over, her eyes wide with panic as she knelt beside me. Perfect. Exactly what I needed.
"What are you doing, huh?!" Jenna yelled angrily, her voice filled with disbelief as she glared at Aiden. Yes, Jenna. Be mad at him.
Aiden clenched his fists, his eyes flicking between me and Jenna, frustration evident on his face. "Jenna, it’s not what it looks like—"
"Not what it looks like?" she cut him off, her voice rising. "You just punched him! How can you even justify that?"
I stayed on the ground, still holding my lip, watching the scene unfold. Aiden tried to step closer, but Jenna raised her hand to stop him.
"Felix didn't deserve that!" she shouted, her anger directed squarely at him.
Aiden’s face tightened. "Jenna, he’s manipulating you—he’s not who you think he is."
"Manipulating me?!" Jenna shook her head, disbelief all over her face. "You don’t get to make that call, Aiden. After everything you did, you don’t get to stand here and act like you’re protecting me."
I couldn’t help but smirk internally. The tables had turned. Jenna wasn’t buying his excuses anymore, and this was my chance to push things further in my favor.
"Jenna," I said softly, trying to sound pained, "I’m fine. You don’t have to argue with him for my sake."
But Jenna didn’t seem to hear me. Her focus was entirely on Aiden now, her anger bubbling over. "I can’t believe you’d do this," she said, her voice quieter now, but the hurt was clear. "I trusted you once. I won’t make that mistake again."
Aiden looked like he wanted to argue, but he knew he had lost the moment. He glanced at me one last time, his expression hard, then turned around and stormed off without another word.
Jenna knelt beside me, concern softening her features as she looked at my face. "Are you okay?" she asked, her voice gentle now.
I nodded, forcing a weak smile. "I’ll be fine." Inside, though, I couldn’t be more satisfied. Things were finally falling into place.
