Lilith killed Splint.
She killed her colleague.
Before I could process what I just saw, a pair of arm encircled my waist.
" You're okay. "
I stiffened when I heard a voice that sounds like a whisper in my ears. Then, I feel my cheeks burning hot.
" S-stop it Mint! " I said stuttering.
Oh God! This is so embarrassing! I want to remove his tentacle like arms from my waist but I can't since I'm carrying Choco. She's still unconscious in my arms.
Lilith faked a cough which Mint ignored completely. My cheeks gets redder if that's even possible.
" Mint since you are here, help me carry Choco. "
Geez! This guy really doesn't know what being embarrassed means.
" Okay. "
Finally, he let go of me. I passed Choco to him which he carry like she was some paper light being.
" Let's go. "
We go out of the lab with Lilith on our back. Like what I saw back when I was entering this lab, the underground really looked like an abandoned factory. There are giant rusting machines everywhere. I think this is also used to cover the laboratory from outsiders.
" Why are you here Mint? " I asked out of curiosity. " Ain't you supposed to take care of the person outside? What happened to them? "
He look at me with the same emotionless eyes as he used to have. However, there are something in his eyes that I couldn't name. I just don't know what is it.
" They are enjoying their lucid dream. "  
I felt goosebumps by what he said. This guy is quite scary. He can trap anyone he like in a nightmare and there's huge possibility that they won't be able to broke out. That was pure hell-like experience.
" So Mint isn't a normal person after all. "
I look at Lilith. Now, her gun didn't touch my nape anymore. Instead, she hold it down parallel to her legs.
So she thought all this time that Mint is an ordinary human? That's a surprise. She seemed to be smart as she managed to know about my identity, but well, Mint being a doll is another thing.
" How come you have known about me being vampire? "
I heard her let out a mocking sound. It sounded like she is smirking or something, just that smirks don't have sounds right?
" I may not as strong as others, but I have my own abilities that makes me a high ranking hunter, that is, no non-human creature can pass through my nose unnoticed. "
Oh! So she's more dangerous than other Hunters.
" Then how much do you know? " 
I know that we shouldn't be making noises right now but I can't help it. I want to feed my curiosity until it is satisfied. And I don't even understand why Lilith is tolerating me in my act. Probably she enjoyed talking to me. Hahaha! That's ridiculous.
" I know much more than you imagined. I know that our Sir Shin is actually not a human, though he is not a vampire. I also know that another teacher Zurich is a vampire prince. "
I was so surprised by the information she just leaked. I mean, I have known that Sir Zurich is a vampire, but a vampire prince? There's no way!
" I also know that there are many non-human creatures lurking in our school. But most importantly..." She paused for a while.
" What? "
"... I know that the girl Mint is carrying right now is definitely different from a human being. "
After hearing that, I couldn't find any guts to ask for more. The information is just to much to take. I can't hold any other things I've known that I feel numb for seconds. 
We stayed quiet for the rest of the time. The basement floor was slightly dim and have unpleasant smell of rusting irons and steel. I feel a slight relief when I saw the staircase that would lead us outside. Mint was about to step at the first stair when Lilith suddenly spoke.
" We shouldn't take that way. I have a way out. "      
Without any word, we followed her. I think Mint trust her too. I know she's trustworthy. She may be a hunter, but she's way better than those inhuman persons who unreasonably kill vampires. I feel it.
We actually entered some circular paths. There were mechanism on the doors but with the help of Lilith, it was too easy for us to pass through.
But I feel bad about it. It was just too easy for us that I feel it too good to be true. With no troubles around, I feel like this is a deadly trap letting us experience the calm before the storm.
Our exit way looked like a manhole. Yeah! Bloody manhole! It has some ladder going up but...
" God! Are you telling me that we are climbing that thing? " And I swear, if only we are not escaping this dangerous situation, I would've been yelling right now.
" Yes dear. And keep your mouth shut. Or you wouldn't make it alive. "
Again, the sentimental look on Lilith awhile ago have gone already. Now, she only have her mocking smirk on her face like how she face me when she caught me doing something on the computer. Lunatic girl.
Without any choice, I climb the ladder with my shaking knees. I really hated things like this. I hate heights, I hate thrills. I only want everything to be simple, to be not so troublesome.
We are about half-way to the top when my foot slipped. I feel my heart beats twice faster than usual. Good thing my reflex is faster than before so I am able to maintain my balance. I let out a sigh of relief.
" Darn! After this I'm gonna wreck all the ladders in the world. " I muttered to let go of the nervousness in my chest.
After what I think a year of climbing the deadly ladder, we finally reached the top.
I almost celebrated when I saw the clear blue sky above us which means we're finally out. Not from danger but at least from the monster's dungeon.
Mint effortlessly leap to the ground carrying Choco with his one arm. Then, he gave me a hand so that it would be easier for me to get out of that hateful passage. I grab his hands and he gently pulled me. With that, I successfully went out of that hell-like hole. He also gave Lilith a hand which Lilith didn't accept instead, she climb all her way out.
I look around and I realized that we are at the left side of the veterinary building.
Lilith firmly hold my hand and whispered. " They're coming over. "
That's when I heard rustling and footsteps around. Oh God! They're coming here! We can't escape.
My mind was in state of panic but when I look at my two companion, they impersonate calmness. There's no fear visible in their face and there's only seriousness and readiness. And I realize, I am far worse from them, I am nothing in this fight.
Enemies showed up from different direction, completely surrounding us. 
We are doomed.
Looking at the unconscious Choco held tightly in Mint's arms, my mind suddenly filled with regrets.
It should all have been me. I should be the only one suffering. I should not have made Mint my master and force him to protect me everytime I face danger. I should not made Sir Zurich and his allies to be a distraction for us and face this danger. I should not made Lilith turn her back on her colleagues and suffer the consequences. I should just suffer alone.
My regretful mind turn back to reality when I feel that someone pushed me gently.
It was Mint, trying to hide me behind his back, while carrying Choco in one hand. I don't know how he manage to do it, one thing is for sure, he is really capable.
" Just guard her. " Mint said to me and then put Choco beside me.
He will not let me fight. He will fight for me. But it should be the other way around, I should be the one fighting for him. I am his vampire, I should be protecting him. Why would it turn out this way?
But it's true. If I fight with them, I may just slow them down.
I watched in anticipation as Mint and Lilith faced the Hunters. The Hunters points their shiny guns towards us, but didn't dare to make a move. They are just standing still, waiting for the perfect timing.
As everyone is busy assessing their prey, Mint avert his gaze from the enemy and meet mine. I don't know what happened next but I found myself in a trance for a second and I hear a soft calm voice inside my mind.
* May I? *
In an instant, I already know what he meant. It strange how did it happen but it's like our mind is somewhat connected. Yes. I understand him. He is asking permission to use his ability. And I nodded in respond.
All of the sudden, most of the people who surrounds aimed their guns to their allies. The remaining Hunters at the back was taken aback by the unexpected actions of their comrades. They became confuse on wether to aim their firearms at us or at their own people.
The crowd became noisy as the enemy tried attacking each other. Amidst the chaotic scene, I know Mint is protecting me. He keep me and Choco out of sight of the Hunters who now act like rabid monsters. They were shooting each other to death. Lilith was silently watching them slightly surprised by the situation.
However, as we are observing and waiting for the right opportunity to escape, a little stingy thing hit my shoulder which made a feel a little pang of pain. I thought I am alright until I saw dark red liquid dripping on my clothes.
I was shot.
