"The heck is wrong with you old woman? You really picked this timing to interrupt? How dare you interfere in the most important moment!" My head filled with rage when Mint's words were cut off with her sudden interruption. Can't she come a little later?
"Idiot! Are you expecting me to wait here and watch you being all lovey-dovey? Stupid!" 
"Don't call her stupid." Mint's icy voice filled the room. It's just four words but it carries grave coldness that even I felt chill when I heard those words. 
Is he always this scary?
"If you say so." The girl just rolled her eyes after replying in sarcastic tone. It seems that his voice isn't enough to scare her. "What now Mint? Are you willing to gave up your heart or are you going to let this girl down? I'm waiting." 
"I told you, that heart was already destroyed. It broke when lady Elize gave me freedom. Right now, I don't have anything to do with you. Just leave us alone." 
Hearing this word from Mint seemed a little off. His heart? Destroyed? Broke? For whom exactly? 
The old lady's sinister expression faded suddenly. All that's left is that unreadable complicated expression on her pale face.
"Is that true?" She asked still full of doubts. 
Mint simply nodded his head and with a flick of his finger, a light flashed towards the lady's forehead. Her eyes closed tightly for a minute and after opening it again, her eyes were already devoid of light, dull and lifeless. She let out a soulless sigh.
" Then everything that I've done are all waste. I just want..." Her flat voice muffled as she said those last words and sat helplessly. Finally, a single tear fell from her dull eyes. "I just... I just want to have what Elize had." 
My mouth formed an O at the sudden drama. It suddenly feels like I shouldn't be here listening to her pitiful monologue.
"Risa..." When Mint mumbled her name, I feel a gush of irritation. Heck! Why does her name sounds so sweet when he said it?
"I just want to have you Mint! I just want you to look at me like how you looked at Elize. I just want you to treat me just like how you treat her! F*ck! Why can't I?" A stream of tears flood her face as she frantically tried to cover it with her hands.
"Just because my cousin is sick and frail, she can have all the good things. She was treated gently. While I was abandoned! And yet I have to still be considerate of her. It hurts but I never complained! When Grandpa gave you to Elize, how could I not feel envious? How could I not want to covet you? But I have to keep it all to myself. After all, Elize is sick!" 
Somehow, I felt a strong urge to glare at Mint. That pretty face of him could really torment others. He should've gotten rid of that face a long time ago. 
"Risa, you know her condition." This time, Mint's voice is calm as he listened to her rants. 
"Yeah! I knew she was sick that's why I've kept quiet. I thought after Elize disappear, I can have the things I want. I thought that after she was gone, you will gave your 'heart' to me. I thought grandpa would pay more attention to me. " 
My eyes went wide. Even though I knew it has something to do with their relationships and all, I didn't knew the envy and jealousy would be this much. Just how much does this girl liked Mint? And I was even dragged in this mess? I want to curse badly!
"But the 'heart' that I was longing for never became mine. Even you disappeared. Grandpa left. I was never become burden, so why wouldn't you all like me more?" She continued in her pathetic monologue. Somehow, her fierce image completely disappeared. All that's left was a girl who got extreme inferiority complex issues. That is also the reason why I couldn't continue listening to her rantings. It really infuriates me.
" Miss Risa, you know," this time, I couldn't help but cut in. Heck! Mint was asleep for 500 years so that means he woke up  just to witness this sh*tty kidnap scene? "If you like Mint, you can simply tell him no? Why go through such trouble just for this? You can never obtain his heart by doing this." 
Somehow my words sound stupid but I couldn't care anymore. Imagine waiting for almost 500 years–I can't even imagine living for 5 century–and only doing such crazy thing? 
I was stupefied when she laughed like she was tickled on both feet. It was a laugh of stupefaction. 
"Hahahahaha! Like? This ragdoll? Are you insulting me?" She laughed as if I drop the worst joke that have ever existed. What the heck is wrong with this woman's head? 
"Pfft!" And I even heard Mint suppressing a laugh as well. What the! Even an emotionless one could even laugh at my words? Am I a joke here? 
"What's the use of denying it? You clearly said you want his heart right?" And what the heck am I doing here, arguing with this old auntie? I should be thinking of a way to save Shane.
"Excuse me." She raised her eyebrow in disdain as she spoke. "I am not that stupid to like this thing. The heart that I'm talking about means his literal heart. The stone that gave me power to control his loyalty." 
She paused for a while before sneering at me."I'm not as stupid as you." 
You! I restrained the urge to claw her with my paws. Tss. What does she knew about me?
I shift my focus to the first sentences that she said. Heart stone? Could control loyalty? I never heard about that thing.
"I really thought that after 500 years I would obtain the heart and get the pet that I want. But now," she sighed and glared at me. "He is already someone's pet."
Upon hearing that words, I almost spat out blood out of fury. How could she just casually treat others as pet? However, I control my irritation. Sumiko, patience is virtue.
"Can we settle this now? Please return Shane to us. Since the thing you want isn't with us anymore, how about we just forget about the past and move forward?" 
Darn! I wanted to slap myself. It sounds so cliched and cringe. Sounds like a direct rip-off line from a random drama. 
"Forget about the past and move on?" She sneered. "I wasted my 500 years of existence just for you to say that? Do you think things can be as simple as that?" 
A blinding light flashes around us and in a blink of an eye, we have been transported to the edge of the rooftop of this mansion. Darn! I feel dizzy just by looking down.
"What are you planning to do?" Mint gripped my arms tightly. Then I saw that lady holding Shane. On her right hand, she was holding a jet black short gun. 
My heart raced inside my chest. 
"I am actually very curious about one thing." She looked at the gun admiringly before pointing it towards me. Mint immediately put himself between us, shielding me from possible danger. Darn it Mint! 
"If I push Shane down, would you save her and leave that brat here for me to kill?" She eyed Shane with contempt before throwing me irritated glances. 
Cold shiver run through my nerves as I realized what she meant. If Mint decided to save Shane, then she will kill me with a gun. And if Mint, decided to shield me, then Shane would definitely die of falling.
"You're crazy." I mumbled after realizing all of it. Actually, I have a feeling that I could at least protect myself even if Mint decided to save Shane. But could I also protect my heart from shattering once it happens? 
Mint didn't utter a single word as he continue to stare at the hostage Shane. Darn! I knew it.
"Now Mint..." She smiled creepily. 
"Choose!" 
Then with her full strength, she pushed Shane down to her death.
Without thinking twice, I dove down to catch her body. I know it is a suicidal act but I don't care anymore. As long as I can save Shane, I would gamble on the fact that I'm a vampire. Maybe, just maybe, I will survive this fall.
Everything feels like in slow motion and my surroundings became blurred. All I can see is Shane's white and frail body that resembles a giant radish dressed elegantly.
Wait---what? 
What I actually grabbed is a radish dressed in clothes and there is no Shane? What the f*ck!
I closed my eyes as I feel the pressure of falling down. Is this the end? Am I actually going to die saving a clothed radish? This is so lame...
