No matter how many times I wiped my tears, they still continue flowing down to my cheeks.
It hurts. It badly hurts.
I saw it with my own eyes. The bullet was aimed at me. It was not for Lilith. She wasn't supposed to be dead now. I should be the one who is dead now. But she used her body to block the bullet. She used her own life to save me.
" Lilith, why did you do that? I don't deserve it. " I said in between sobs. I don't really understand why did she have to save me. We're not that close to start with. We barely talk in class and she even hated monsters like me.
" Sumiko it's not your fault. "
I shifted my gaze from the tomb below to Choco. Funny thing that she is comforting me right now yet I just feel emptier.
" Choco, it's all my fault. "
The scene from that day suddenly flashed in my memory.
I saw the guy standing few meters away from us with a gun aimed at me. I am petrified, thinking that it would be my death. I closed my eyes when I saw his finger pulling the trigger. Is it the end for me?
I heard a loud bang so I waited for the bullet to reach my body. But seconds passed that I feel nothing. So I opened my eyes only to see Lilith's pained face, slowly kneeling down.
" Lilith... "
" Sumiko, I'm sorry. " Her words came out like a groan as blood drips from the corner of her mouth.
The pain in my body had gone numb already. There's only this writhing pain in my chest, much more painful than physical pain.
The side of her lips curve up to a bloody smile. Then with a soft sound like a whisper, she mutter words that stab my heart repeatedly.
" Thank you, my friend. "
My mind came back to reality when I heard Choco's voice.
" Then, it will be a shame for her if she had wasted her life for such a crybaby like you. She sacrificed so much so prove that she did not choose wrongly by saving you. Pull yourself altogether. Stop being pathetic. "
With that, she left, leaving me dumbfounded. Her words appear harsh and rude but surprisingly, it made me feel better.
I chuckled. Maybe, just maybe, Choco was right. I just have to treasure what Lilith have given to me. That way, I could treasure her more.
" Hey Lilith, I got it already. " I bite my lips to prevent myself from cracking up. Yes. I figure out what is Lilith trying to say that time. I totally understand now. That's why...

The guys went back to their "base" as they call it, dragging Mint with them. While me and Choco binge on the food we have. I feel especially exhausted and I think I need a good eat to recover.
" Then Sumiko, what is your plan now? "
Choco recovered faster than me. It seems that she has gotten used to the situation now. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing though.
" What else? I have to continue in my crappy school works. "
She laughed heartily. I guess everything will be fine from now on. My messy life will still continue the way it was before. No need to sweat over things. When dangerous things happen again in the future, then I'll just have to face them heads up when they come.
The doorbell rang twice.Choco lazily throw a pillow at me.
" Go open the door. "
I rolled my eyes.
" I'm not your maid. " I whined but then, I stood up to open the door.
" Thanks my maid! " I hear her yelling while laughing. Insane.
I opened the door only to be surprised to see my handsome school teacher.
" Sir Shin, what brings you here? " I smiled awkwardly. I haven't seen him for a while. " Come in. "
But he did not move from where he is standing.
" You're totally recovered yet you have forgotten me. So uncool Miss Sumiko. "
I smiled sheepishly. " Nah Sir Shin, how could I forget you? "
The side of his lips twitched up. H*ck yeah! I'm so awesome that I could make this cool teacher smirk.
" Kidding aside, you really forgotten someone. "
I tilted my head sideward as I try to recall that "someone". But I couldn't think of anyone. Did I have partial amnesia?
" Miss Sumiko! "
A girl appeared from behind Sir Shinwon. Her pretty lips curved into a mesmerizing smile. Oh Sumiko, how could you forgot a beauty like her?
" Shane! How are you doing? "
I check her body for any injuries which made Sir Shin to raise his brows.
" I'm perfectly fine Miss Sumiko. Shin treated me well. "
" Well, that's good. " I sighed of relief. " Should we enter now? We've been standing here for so long. "
But Sir Shin shook his head. " I have to go now. I have something else to do. "
I nodded in response. He stared at me for a few seconds then he shook his head afterwards.
" What is it? "
" By the way, I have a gift for you Miss Sumiko. Take it as a welcoming gift. "
He handed me a small paper bag which I receive gladly.
" Thanks. "

I am resting in my room when I remember the paper bag. Curiously, I opened the paper bag only to be surprised by its content.
It was a very old notebook almost covered in dust. The front cover's color have already faded from being too old. Surprisingly, the notebook is still intact.
I opened flipped the cover and on the first page were the words scribbled in messy manner.
