CHAPTER 25 “You talked to her?” Gelo asked, not furious and not calm. He was shocked by what I said. Even my old self couldn’t believe what I did. I talked to the woman they pertain to as ‘crazy’ or ‘someone who lost her mind’. I crunched my waist, left and right. “She wasn’t crazy at all. She’s completely fine,” I insisted. The information Gelo has for this town was incomparable to what I know, but there’s a chance I could be the right one. If Mila has sufficient information that might help me, I could connect those to the death of Mom and Dad. The truth will prevail. A gift I wanted before I avoid myself in this town and attend university. “She didn’t harm me. I don’t see any possible harm from her. I think she wanted to make a deal with me.” “Why don’t you just listen to me, Cath? Mila’s crazy. She lost her mind. Everybody knew that.” “What if you’re wrong? She might be the missing piece in the death of my parents. She’s also lost her parents. According to her, the Alpha killed hers. She believes we might have the same situation. A crazy woman won’t think like that.” Gelo sighed, losing his nerves on me. Before I won’t fight for what I wanted. I’ll focus on my world and business, but know I’d rather get harmed instead of stay in silence. “Cath, listen to me this time…” “I’ve been listening to you all this time, yet it feels like you lied to me. Do you about about the truth even before?” “No. That’s not it. She’s crazy. That’s what others told me. I don’t know the truth and I believed the majority. And maybe you’re right. That woman isn’t crazy at all. But investigating the death of your parents is superb, especially if it’s the Alpha you’re suspecting with. I don’t want you to get hurt and you already know about the status of a werewolf clan. “I won’t get hurt, Gelo, but I won’t stop on what I wanted to do. I’ll push myself on talking to Mila, gathering the details about her parents, and connecting it to the mystery of my family. Though I wasn’t their biological daughter, they took care of me. This is the only thing I could do for their fallen souls. Justice. Finding the truth.” Angelo wrapped me inside his body. Why did he do that? It made me feel like a hardbound book laying on a shelf, unable to move. He almost whispered, “Truth kills, Cath.” “I’d rather be dead than not knowing the truth at all.” … Gelo didn’t do anything to what I planned at all. No one could stop me, and we made a deal that he won’t tell my brothers or I will not talk to her ever again. I don’t know why my brothers wanted to keep quiet about the death of their Mom and Dad. We can seek justice for them, learn facts in this town, and stop living normally. This town wasn’t normal at all. There were secrets hidden and I decided to unravel most of them. By Friday, I decided to go alone to our training grounds. I wasn’t here to train. I wanted to see Chaz. He might know something about my parents or Mila. I’m not playing a detective here. I don’t have the brains for that. I could ask Nana about Mila, but Gelo’s her grandson She might side with him. I understand that. The way around the town was still weird. It feels like there were hundreds of eyes looking at me. For the truth, I let it be. Chaz is a mixture of experience, brains, and strength. His parents were also killed for training werewolves in this town. He’s at least twenty so there’s a chance he knew something about Mila. I still couldn’t trust Mila after a few truths she said. Still a stranger, a possible danger. A few feet from the door of Chaz’s place, I heard plates that broke on the ground, and metal banging through the walls. Someone punched a hardwood platform. My feet were stuck to the ground. I listened more to what was happening inside. “H-Help me!” That was a groan, or a moan, or an eerie scream. But I heard Chaz’s voice asking for help. I peeked at the square window beside the door. Yes, it doesn’t have any curtains or blinders covering it up. First, I look at the entrance and found nothing but trash of chips. A metal clanked again, farther from where I was looking. In the kitchen, I saw a man, half-naked, standing, his back facing me. He was looking at someone on the ground, ready to smash a face. “Oh, God!” I was sure right now what it was Chaz and he needed my help. When the man crouched, I slammed the door open and rushed inside. The man standing without any shirt or clothes noticed me. Shocked flashed through his face…and mine. Kaz! It can’t be! Kaz attempting to hurt Chaz. He respected him a lot and he was even the leader of the training grounds. Chaz wouldn’t trust him if he was dangerous. “Don’t hurt him or I’ll kill you!” I shouted at Kaz. I don’t have anything in my hand. I don’t even know why did I say that. Kaz had been training for years along with him. He was stronger than me but I have brains. And I’ll use that in a possible danger later. “Cath?” he asked as if he wasn’t sure if I was the one he thought of. We’re not friends during training but we talked once and twice. A hand grasped the kitchen counter. Chaz stood up—he was completely fine. No bruises and blood on his body. “Cath, why are you here?” They weren’t fighting or killing each other because they were calm when I arrived. What was happening earlier surely wasn’t my imagination. I don’t daydream or hallucinate. “What’s happening in here? What have I just witnessed?
