Shitty me, how could I have forgotten about her all of a sudden?, it's been three weeks since I went for a visit, what would my excuse be?, that I decided to hide from her because Aiden broke my heart?, am I asking for pity or something?.
I no it's no obligation that I have to be there, but I have become a regular, and when you become a regular, you automatically becomes a friend, and that's possibly what I am now, what I am to her, a friend, a friend who went in hiding knowing her friend is in the hospital bed struggling to survive the disease she's battling, Oh my, how could I have allowed that slip my mind all this while.
My plan was to prepare myself a dinner, but on seeing her give me a call, I made plans to cook for two, I can go over there and have dinner with her, just like Dad said, a little gift takes the anger away, that's exactly what my teammate did then, gifting me my required drink, water, so to make this a special moment, I'm going to bring her something that worth the special occasion, we can have dinner together and all that will be in the past, a little thing quieten anger.
Stepping into her room, she automatically becomes dramatic, knowing what she's doing, I believe I have to match the same energy, I have to act in. I kept the food I came with on the chair by the side, went to her, kneeling by her bed side and hugging her from the side while she looks the other way, “ I'm sorry for forgetting you, please accept your daughter's apology....”, I looked up to her face, she was still looking the other side, but now there was a smile on her face, one she couldn't hide from me. I continued begging....“ please please please...”, she turned to me, the smile still on her face, making us both.
In an instant, she turned from playful to emotional. “ I heard what happened, how are you doing with it?....” she asked, that mother look on her face. You can't believe that I only have a relationship with this woman because my best friend is dating her son, nothing more, but right now, we're looking like mother and daughter.
Trying not to turn the feeling into a sad moment, I just waved the emotions away, trying to act cool. “ It might've been a setback, but let's call it a small vacation for me to come back stronger....” I said, demonstrating my words with action, raising my fist mid air, showing her that I got this. Those smile returned back immediately, seeing that I am really not taking this to heart.
“ I love your spirit dear, show them they're still small, they've no power to bring you down....”
The fact that those close to me believe that I am innocent makes this really comforting, others opinions doesn't matter, only those close to my heart should I listen to, and my friend here is one of them. Before I forget my gift, I turned around, getting the food from the chair, with her seeing my actions, she just made space for me to keep them on the bed like she knew what they was.
“ I believe you haven't had dinner yet, because even if you have, I'm going to make you eat again....”
I said jokingly, making both of us to burst out into laughter, like I just wanted to force a horse to the stream and still wants to force it to drink water. “ You're so lovely dear, really greatful that we happened to cross paths....” she said, her eyes filled with nothing but love.
“ Thank you ma'am, it's my pleasure too....”
We were almost done when the door opened, turning around to see who just came in, it was him, Aiden. What is he doing here?, I thought he was always at his grandma's during weekends, how come he's here?.
“ Good evening Mom..... Hey....”
He greeted his mom before waving at me, possibly forcing those smile onto his face to act like there's no beef going on between us, probably wanting to hide them from his Mom, I believe I should act the same too, since pretending has been part of me this past few days.
“ Hey....”
I greeted back, before looking away and back to the food, still wondering in my mind why he's here. Today is weekend, he should be at his grandma's, shouldn't he?. There's this heavy aura in the air, you can sense a change. Cameron's Mom now looks like she's hiding her face from me, and Aiden couldn't stop looking at me, I am having this sudden feelings that I was dragged out here in purpose, something more than just seeing her.
“ I know what you're thinking dear, but looking from the situation and for the fact I can't be a mother and watch a good girl like you slip away from my boy's hand because of his fears, I believe I had to take the first step, he told me that he could no longer reach you, so I decided to try, I don't know whether you'll understand, but if you're a mother who wants good for her son, you definitely will....”
She said, her words apologetic, but eyes not staring into mine like she knew that she was wrong for taking advantage of my emotions. That means Aiden has planned this, he definitely skipped seeing his grandma today because he knew that I would show up, he knew that I'll possibly think he's not around and show up, they just tricked me.
I was just speechless, like there's no word to say, I don't know whether I'm angry or not, I'm just stuck in a position that I don't even understand myself, I just hope this goes well.
