Chapter 20
2 YEARS LATER
"Good morning Ms. Ellington"
"Good morning Ms Ellington"
"Good morning," I greet back and smiled as my colleagues greet me.
Two years have passed and in those two years, too many things I didn't expect to happen happened to me. Just like how I didn't expect and thought of selling my parents' house. The house where I grew up. The house where happy and sad memories with my parents remained. Living in a condominium wasn't on my mind before, but I am happily living in one now. And as for my employment status, I am now a...
"Good morning Manager Ellington," Ashley greeted me, wearing an untearable smile.
A manager. Hotel manager to be specific. Who would've thought I could work at a hospitality magement? Not me for sure. But look at where life had brought me. A decent and high paying job, friendly colleagues and an angel boss. What else could I wish for, right?
And speaking of my boss, "Ms. Sabrinah, the president wants you in his room." Elsey, the president's assistant said.
I smiled at her. " I am actually on my way to see him." I told her. "Is he in his room right now?"
"He's probably still in right now." She said flipping papers after papers. "He'll be in a meeting with an investor in two minutes. You can pay a visit in his room or just go straight to his office."
"Alright. Thanks Elsey." I smiled at her for the last time before turning and getting in the elevator. I pressed the 16th button where the president's room is. I fixed my hair as I walk out from the elevator. Feeling content with my appearance, I headed to room 1608, the presidential suite, and knocked. At the third knock and still no response, I took out the room card key. You might wonder why open the door when I get no response from the person inside. Well, it's because when the president calls someone in his room, he won't bother himself responding and opening the door. So we just knock and then open the door. That's his instruction.
I went to check his study room, where he always stays when he works, he's not there. But he left a note saying,
" Sorry for the inconveniences, but I'm probably
in my office right now.
Please call a housekeeper before proceeding to my office. Thank you ."
Walking to the bedroom, I dialed the front desk.
"Heavenly Hotel. This is Ashley speaking, how may I help you?"
"Hi Ash, this is Sabrinah. I need a housekeeper to clean the president's suite." I said. " And please a bottle of red wine and fruits for the president as well. Thank you."
I heard her say of course in the other line before I hang up
"Sabrinah, are you still in my room?" He asks as soon as I pressed the answer button. "If you are, kindly bring the envelope with you. It was in my study room placed on my desk. "
"Alright sir." I said habang palakad na papunta sa study room. "Found it." Sabi ko nang makita ang sinasabi niyang envelope.
"Please bring it here in my office. Thank you." He said and hung up.

ZHANDER
"Sir, the car's ready. " Ms. Cruz, my secretary said.
I had just arrived from England and is now going to Heavenly hotel for a contract signing. I am exhausted from flight after flight. My body needs rest.
"What's my schedule for today?" I asked as I get inside the car. The driver drove right as we get in.
"There will be a dinner with all the shareholders and investors after the contract signing with Heavenly hotel. I already booked a room at said hotel for your convenience."
"Can't I skip the dinner meeting?"
"This dinner with all the investors and shareholders was arranged especially for you as the new investor sir, your presence is a must." She said. "I have also checked the room and everything is according to your likings. Your room is on the 16th floor, room 1604. "
The car stopped at the entrance of Heavenly hotel. Classy is what I thought when I saw the hotel. My investment wouldn't be to no avail then.
"Welcome to Heavenly hotel, Mr Taylor." A woman probably in her early 30's approached us. "My name's Elsey Lawson, president Smith's assistant." She offers her hand for a handshake which I accepted. "The president apologizes for not being able to come greet you. Something has kept him in his office."
"Does it concern about our negotiation?"
"Oh no, sir. It's something personal. Nothing to worry about the negotiation. If you'll follow me sir, I'll take you to his office.
"Of course."
Ms Lawson takes us to the 18th floor and stops right in front of a room which I guess is the president's office. She knocks on the door right before opening it. "Sir, Mr Taylor's here." She announced.
"Let him in, Elsey. Come in Mr Taylor," he said getting up from his chair. We shale hands and then he gestures for me to sit.
" Do you want something to drink sir? Coffee or tea? "
"Coffee for me Elsey, thank you." Mr Smith said. "How about you Mr Taylor?"
"I'm good. Thank you." I said without looking at any of them. My eyes are in the view of Mr Smith's office. You can see the whole city in his office. The time I stepped inside, I was amazed by how unique the interior designs and the spaciousness of the office was, but I didn't let anyone notice it of course.
"Nice office." I complimented as I walked past him and into the glass wall mesmerizing the view of the towering buildings. Nice, indeed. You can see the whole city in this office. I bet the view gets more beautiful at night.
"Right?" He chuckled. "My manager thinks so too. She always goes there, right where you're standing, whenever she gets in my office." His smile goes brighter and I don't like how his eyes sparkle. There's probably something with them— him and the manager of his-as he said— and I don't like the feeling.
"Shall we start?" I asked as I walk towards the small couch and get myself comfortable. I crossed my legs and fixed my suit. A sudden undescribable feeling rages.
"Of course." He said, sitting on the couch across from mine. And so the meeting begins. He started talking about present profits and future innovation plan. About the new project and more. I didn't actually pay attl seeention and focus for an unknown reason. I just want to sign the contract already so I could leave this office and rest. I just wanna rest.
Less than an hour, thankfully he's done talking and we agreed to continue on contract signing. He stood up to get the contract,I guess, on his table. He offered me an apologetic smile as he reached for his phone instead and hit a call for I don't care who.
What is he doing? I asked myself, getting bored and tired. I want this to end already so I can go to sleep. At least until the dinner starts. That would be 2 hours and a half if I manage to sign the contract right now.
I was busy staring at him when a knock come from outside his office. Not giving care who it was, I looked down my phone for an email from my secretary but there's none. Her last email for me was about the room arrangement. That was before we went here.
"Come in, Sabrinah." Mr Smith had said. And something about that name awakens something inside me that has long been gone. Don't know what specifically though.
Sabrinah?
Memories of her flashed through my mind. It's been two years and I still haven't forgotten about her. Haven't seen her and haven't heard anything from her after the letter. It's like she's disappeared into thin air. She hasn't left a trace to where she is now. No phone call. Nothing. Even her best friend, Ellie hadn't heard anything about her. But still , I was hoping for her to come back one day. Back into my arms. To Ellie. We are her only family now. She can't be married again by now. On paper, we're still married and she hasn't reached out to me or my lawyer for a divorce.
Deep in thought, a familiar voice snapped me. A very familiar voice. The voice that I miss and wish to hear again.
"I've brought your file."
My heart skipped a beat. Ever so slowly, I tilt my head to the direction of the door. Eyes heavy for an unshed tears, I feel like my body loses strength and oxygen.
With a heart beating so fast and heavy, I stood up and cleared my throat catching her attention. That's when she turns her body to face me, and I see her.
Sabrinah.
After two years of searching, thinking, waiting... Fucking finally I found her. I found her and I'm never letting her slip out of my eyes anymore. Not now. Not ever.
I'm keeping her forever.Download Novelah App
