Chapter 21

SABRINAH
Well... This is not what I expect to see. I don't know what to say. I don't even know what to feel. Should I be mad? Sad? Happy? Mix of?
No, more like surprised.
I know he would find me, but not so soon. Or was it so soon? Regardless, I don't expect him to be here. At all.
Zhander in the flesh. In Heavenly Hotel. At my workplace. Staring straight at me.
What is he doing here? Business collaboration with the Smiths or a vacation? Not the latter for sure.
"Thank you, Sabrinah." Mr Smith said waking me from my reverie. He took the file from my hand and gestures to none other than Zhander. " This is Mr Zhander Taylor , and this is my assistant." I give him a smile and curt nod. "I'll see you at dinner?" Mr Smith asks.
"Dinner?" Zhander surprisingly asked.
I give him a stare then smile at Mr Smith. "Of course sir. Enjoy your meeting gentlemen. " I flash them a final smile as I exit the office.
Finally out of the gentlemen's eyes, I blow out a breath.
Phew. That was intense.
*********
ZHANDER
I'll see you at dinner... I'll see you at dinner... I'll see you at dinner.
It keeps ringing into my head no matter how many times I shake and clear my head.
I'll see you at din-
"Mr Taylor?" I hear my secretary asks. "Are you all right sir?"
I clear my throat. "Of course. I'm fine." I lied. "The contract Mr Smith...Is it ready yet?"
"The contract's here and ready." He smiles and walks towards me. "You can sign right away or review the contract if it's to your liking." He hands me the contract with a pen. "The contract's revised as per your request."
Still I reviewed it. One thing to learn about business is to never trust people just by his words. In business, you have to be wise and thorough.
Once my signature was on the contract, Mr Smith's smile widened. "Happy collaborating with you, President Zhander Taylor." He said offering a handshake.
"We'll see about that." I said shaking his hand. "Since we're all set, I'll be going then. If you know, I'm freshly out from my flight and I'm beaten. "
"Of course. Your room is ready. Enjoy your stay at Heavenly Hotel." He opened the door for me. "I'll see you at dinner then." I just give him a nod and then I'm out of his office, my secretary on my tail.
"Sir, an update about the search of Ms Ellington was just sent from the search team. She's here."
"Yeah. I just saw her." I said that makes her stopped on her track. She was shocked. Yeah, you and me both.
"You just what?" My secretary asked, eyes wide.
I smirk at myself. "I just saw her five minutes ago. "
"What? Where? When?"
"I just told you. I saw her five minutes ago. In the office."
"In the office? What? Why didn't I see her?" She asked still shock bust is now able to catch up with me.
"Probably because you're busy with your laptop..." I said staring at her, then I added, "You weren't harassing someone to be your date, were you, Ms Cruz?" I joke.
"What? No! I was reading the email sent from the search team. " She replied, high pitched. I glare at her and see horror in her eyes. I chuckled and her features softened. "Well, glad to know your sense of humor's back, Mr president. I take it it's because you'll be together with Ms Ellington soon?"
"Maybe." I shrugged. I don't know myself. Was I that humorless for... How long has it been since Sabrinah, my wife, had left? Three years? Fou-
"It's only been two years, sir." Oh wow. Was I thinking that loud? This time, it's Ms Cruz's turn to smirk. "Two years and five days, but who's counting, right? "
I gave her a curt, "Right." I thought this topic about my wife was closed but I'm wrong. She's not done pointing out all my past misery two years ago when Sabrinah left.
"Okay. This will be your room." Ms Cruz said stopping at the door of said room. She hands me my key card. "Mine's one floor down. Have a good rest then Mr Taylor." She turned to leave but only managed to take a few steps and turned back. "I was just wondering," she thrilled. "Since you will just be sitting and drinking in the diner for the night and there's no more paperworks , if I may take this night to go out and relax?"
"You may, ms Cruz. But don't make a man cry tonight." I said as I slide the card to unlock the door. It clicked open and I stepped in.
"I can't promise, sir, but I'll try my best." Was the last thing I heard before the door closes.
My mind then starts to plan for ways to get my wife back. I can't believe we had been apart for just two years and... how many days was it again? For me, it's been too long that it felt like it's almost been five years. Anyhow, I plan to get her back in whatever way possible.
And when I get her back, there's no more snucking out. She'll never be able to leave again. She'll be with me , and this time, for forever.
