The dinner went well. Xymon talked about our childhood to Louisa as if I didn't tell her. I was shy when Xymon teased me when I got scared when we were in grade school because of the dragonfly that my classmates Ben and Jake put in my bag. How unprofessional! They were both laughing. Right after the dinner, I drove Louisa back to her condo. In the midst of driving her way back, I noticed how uncomfortable she was unlike before we left in the mansion. I faked a cough. The silence between us broke.
"Uhm, I forgot to thank you for this dinner, I enjoyed—" She said shyly.
I grinned, looked at her for a little. "It seems you really enjoy laughing with my brother." She looked at me, wondering if what I said meant something to her.
"Y-yes. He's funny, though."
"Can you open that? The glove compartment." I pointed lips and she then opened the glove compartment. "There's a keychain there. Get it. It's for you." Louisa took the keychain and stared at it as she touched it feeling grateful.
“Oh! Thank you. It's beautiful. Where did you buy this? ”She said smiling like a kid.
"You like it?"
"Yeah, thanks." She nodded.
Finally, we reached the building where she lived. She gets off the car and waved her hand.
"Thanks for the ride."
Right after I drove back. Alone. Tired and craving a soft bed. I wondered when someone was waiting for me after work. Someone I could hug while she was cooking while I was still wearing my business attire. Someone wearing a silk dress at night wanting cuddles and making love with his man. I wished there was. I wish it was Louisa. Still, I even told her to forget what I said when I confessed my feelings. I just thought it would be the best solution for her not to stay away from me. I feel we're different from each other, not the same as before I left to fix myself. How long is it three months?
As I opened the door, Silenced opened up to me. I took off my business attire and go for a shower. Suddenly, I heard my phone ringing. My eyes were closed because of the soap on my face. I immediately ignored the cellphone that was ringing and just let it go but it still didn't stop so I was bothered. I grabbed the towel and wrapped it around my waist. Water was still dripping from the hair when I came out of the bathroom. I immediately picked up the cellphone and I swiped it to answer the call. I immediately put the cellphone to my ear and I heard the man's voice.
"Good evening sir, Are you a friend of Louisa Georgin from Sole Building room 805?"
"Yes, Why? What is it?"
"The Sole building is currently burning near room 805 and we are trying to manipulate the fire and save the people inside the building. It's a good thing our team rescued your friend immediately. She didn't get any wounds or burns on his body. "She's fine now. She looks like she's lost her way in the thick smoke."
"What ?! Where is she now?" Confused, I went to the bedroom and hurried to get dressed to go to where Louisa was. I hope nothing bad happened to her.
"She's at the hospital near the laza building." When the man told me the location where Louisa was, I immediately dropped the phone call. I was driving in a hurry because of nervousness. My grip on the steering wheel was too tight and I wanted to get to the said hospital.
I saw the hospital immediately and parked the car. I reluctantly removed the seatbelt and got out of the car. It was like a child running inside and immediately looking for the room Louisa was admitted to.
"Sir, Who are you looking for?" The nurse on the counter asked.
"Can you accompany me where is Louisa Georgin room?" He checked the list. "Make it faster, please"
"Uh, sir she's on 302. Just go right there."
I immediately walked to room 302. When I opened it, I immediately saw Louisa lying with oxygen in her mouth. The doctor was also there, checking her up.
“Doc, How is she?” I asked getting worried. Louisa was lying on the bed, sleeping. She was wearing a white dress.
"Oh, You come back fast. She's fine now. I checked her heart it's fine. She just inhaled smoke so she had trouble breathing. I'll leave you first. I still have a patient.
"Thanks, Doc." After the doctor left, I was surprised when he said that I was able to return immediately while I was just arriving.
I sat on the side where there was a small chair next to Louisa's bed. I watched Louisa, I felt guilty even though I had nothing to do with what happened. I hope I directed her to the house or we went somewhere first to pass the time. It's a good thing what happened to her wasn't so bad otherwise, I can't even forgive myself to see something bad happen to her. I took Louisa's hand and whispered to her that she should wake up even though I knew she should rest. I'm really worried. I can't be bothered.
I thought of temporarily leaving the room to buy something to eat when she woke up so that she would have strength. Before I could turn the door, it opened. From the doorknob, I lifted my eyes and saw myself. Not literally myself. It was my brother, Xymon. He was also surprised to see me inside.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" I immediately questioned and wondered. I immediately looked at his hand, which was carrying food and fruit.
"I heard the news about the fire in the building she was living in. And so she was my assistant, it's my responsibility to take care of my employees. I shouldered your friend's bills, nothing to worried about." Dire went straight into the room and laid what he was carrying on the table.
I smirked as I turned my back on him. "I didn't know that your assistant would close you like that." I immediately broke down the door and intended to walk out of the hospital.
"Where are you going?"
"I'm about to leave, I just check her up."
When I got into the car I kept pushing the steering wheel. I took a deep breath in annoyance. Damn! I don’t know if I still feel right. I felt jealous. Confused at the same time. I don't know that you should be so responsible as a boss with your employee. Is there anything I don't know about them? I know Xymon really no matter who he's been caring for. He can give a solution to the problem of others. But I just couldn’t get it out of my mind that there might be something in them. I keep contradicting my mind like crazy. I'm not sure. There's no enough evidence. Then for what else does it seem like I don't have to go back inside. Xymon is there again. There's no reason to stay because someone came to watch over him. Louisa might just be surprised when she wakes up looking like Xymon was already there. I don't want him to think I'm pushing myself inside. That's why the doctor told me that because he thought I was my brother.
I cooled my head first. I just hung out in the car and watched the people outside enter the hospital. Suddenly I received a text message.
"Are you home already?" Text messaged from Xymon. I then made a call.
"I'm on my way. Why?" That's what I said even though the truth is I was still there in the parking lot opposite the hospital.
"Nothing. I'm about to ask if there's still space in your apartment?"
"I'm not sure. Why?"
"Okay then. Safe drive." He immediately dropped the call. I would have asked why but I didn't get to speak anymore. I also didn't understand that he might offer another big condo unit and asked me to move there. I'm comfortable where I live now. I don't need a huge space if I'm the only one living there again.
I then actually drove home again. I just prayed in my mind that when Louisa woke up she would be okay. I really want to stay next to him but it's better not to. I also lost my annoyance with Xymon, that was only for a moment. I am still grateful to him because he was there for Louisa and not another man. You know the feeling of pain and jealousy but it was concealed by the gratefulness and kindness of my brother who did nothing but to be responsible for the things that I should be doing.
I wasn't him and I'll never be.
