Chapter 48
Isaac Gray Holster Elizalde’s POV
“You’re proposing to her?” Vivian smirked. “How sure are you that she’s going to choose you?”
I glared at Vivian who was invading my space. Why can’t she tell the fact that I don’t want to talk to anyone right now except if it’s about business.
“It’s none of your business.” I replied. “If you are not here to talk about our project. Get out! I told them not to let anyone in.”
“You’re not sure.” Vivian mocked me as she closely observed me.
I looked the other way. She can read me. After all, she knew me. That is why she knew that I no longer have any interest in her no matter how much she tried to get me back. She should have focused her attention on Ethan, instead of wasting it on me.
“I said...get out!” I raised my voice. She was starting to piss me.
And, I hate how she’s right about it. I am not sure if she’s going to choose me. I had prepared a proposal for her and I am going to ask her on her birthday. However, I still don’t know if she’ll say yes. I didn’t ask her about Mattel. I was afraid to ask.
I didn’t ask her what happened to her and Mattel. I drove her home and spent the night with her. We didn’t talk about it. We just watched movies and talked about some random things to ease her feelings, yet we never talked about her and Mattel. I tried to, but I realized I was pushing her. And, so I decided to just make a proposal.
“I heard Mattel is going to propose to her.” Vivian added flame to the anger I am trying to remove in my chest. Damn! She really enjoys seeing me hurt.
“And, wait...my intel told me her mother even arranged their marriage...so…”
I stood up. Aside from I hate Vivian and her words, I don’t know that. I am not aware of that information. It’s killing me knowing Deanara didn’t even inform me. Although, I understand here. It must be the reason why she was crying or maybe she really doesn't know how to say it to me. It terrified me for if that’s true, I am fighting against her mother. I haven’t even met her family. All the plans that I prepared for them faded when Mattel appeared in the picture.
“Shut up, Vivian!” I yelled a little.
“Hey, why are you suddenly --”
“Let me be clear about this, Vivian.” I eyed her. She started to cry. An act that I get used to and will never be used against me...again.
“Even if Deanara will not choose me…” There was a torn in my mouth that I needed to remove. “I will never come back to you. I love her...more than I have ever loved you.”
I left her.
I stood at the elevator for a minute until I figured out what to do.
I trust Deanara and whatever would be her choice, I would respect that. The person I don’t trust is Mattel.
Instead of seeing Deanara who hadn’t updated me about her day, I decided to visit her adopted brother, Mikee, in their hotel.
“Gray, what are you doing here?” Mikee asked upon seeing me.
“I want to talk to Mattel.” I said it directly. “I know he is here.”
Mikee blinked and his jaw dropped. “Uh, he’s busy--”
“I am not here to start a fight. I am here to talk.” I assured him. “I want to know what kind of man I am against. Well, I want to know if your mother arranged Deanara’s marriage to Mattel. Is that true?”
Mikee fell into silence for a minute and he nodded.
“I swear, Deanara doesn’t know anything about it.”
“I know.” I smiled at him. “So, how about you let me talk to Mattel or to your mother?”
“Uh…” He shook his head. “My mother? Are you serious about that?”
“I am.” I smiled.
Honestly, this is the first time I am going to do this. If this is between me and Vivian, I would have probably let myself lose against Ethan or anyone. I would have probably given up and let destiny have it’s way. But, no. This is Deanara we are talking about.
“I am going to propose to her.” I said seriously.
“You haven’t been together that long,” Mikee argued.
“I don’t need a lot of time to know that she’s the one I want to be with.”
Mikee stared at me, maybe trying to feel if I was telling the truth. At first, I thought I was just caught up with the moment. I don’t want to be rejected or I don’t want people to think I am not always the chosen one. It must be my ego that’s making me do it.
But...no...I do love her. And, I know I would be miserable at best if I did not fight for this.
“Mattel’s in the conference hall.” He handed me a VIP card and pointed at the elevator. “Don’t make a scene. Don’t make it hard for Deanara.” He tapped my back.
He already walked away when I called him.
“Mikee.”
He turned to me.
“Yeah?”
“Do you think I deserve your sister?”
He seriously looked at me and eventually smiled.
“Do you what?” He paused.
“What?”
“We deserve the things we thought we would never do.”
“You didn’t answer my question.” I scoffed.
“You are the only one who could answer the question,” he answered.
“How about this question…” I asked again. “Do you think she will choose me?”
“Do you think she’s going to choose you?”
I rolled my eyes and heaved. Fine. He’s not going to give me answers. I waved and turned my back. I guess I really have to wait for Deanara’s decision.
“Gray…”
I didn’t turn when Mike called me.
“Choose her no matter what happens.”
Of course. I would always choose her, hoping she would choose me, too, no matter what happens.
I went to the conference hall. There’s still a few steps towards the conference hall but I could already hear the music coming from therein. I am not good when it comes to music, but I am not dumb enough to know that he has one of the best vocals in the industry. He’s really good and it’s no wonder why he's famous and on top right now. There’s no doubt about his talent.
I stood in the front door while they were busy doing their thing. It didn’t take a lot of seconds for him to notice me. I somehow felt he was waiting for me.
I looked at him. My mind was thinking about what kind of man he is when it comes to Deanara. I don’t want to compare myself, but I couldn’t help it.
Mattel stopped and his two bandmates stood up to leave the place. He removed the guitar from his body before heading towards my direction.
Without further notice, I landed a blow on his face making him curse.
“Sorry.” I muttered.
