Chapter 112: Resolution pt 2

"Are you still angry with me?"
Darrion went to find Maylene when she got angry from their last meeting and has been avoiding him.
Constantly hiding whenever Darrion was about to visit her office. Maylene also runs to hide inside Karin's office or the emperor's room.
However, that day, Maylene was not able to hide from Darrion's sight.
Darrion immediately locked her in his arms upon seeing her walking along the hallway.
Embarrassed by his sudden skin ship, Maylene got no choice but to have a word with him inside her office.
"How can you suggest such a bizarre idea?"
Outraged, Maylene speak with her back unable to face him.
"But it is the only way to save her, my Lady you know it too right? She will never be safe to stay here."
Darrion explained shortening the gap between him and Maylene.
Gently reaching his hands to grab her shoulders to face him only to see her suppressing her tears.
"We cannot hide her forever." He said in a calm tone, carefully leaning the lady's head on his chest.
"I know it will be very difficult for us to let her go but, it will be much more difficult for us to see that she won't have any freedom to stay with us."
"Just kill them."
Astonished by Maylene's response Darrion flinched meeting Maylene's vexed eyes.
"Accept the throne and kill everyone who will stand in your decisions."
She added greatly furious, so thus Darrion felt shivers all over his body.
He grips her shoulders and looks straight into her eyes, "Maylene! The emperor is still alive! How can you say that?"
"I cannot lose her, I will never give her up!"
Maylene responded grabbing his wrist, and slowly removing his hands from her shoulders.
"I will ask her myself. If she chooses the same decisions as yours that's the only way I will only clear my mind."
Maylene added, walking past Darrion and reaching for the doorknob.
"Ha, I can't believe I am competing with a girl in your heart," Darrion mumbled however, Maylene was able to hear him.
She clenched her fists and pressed her lips to close, deeply frustrated before turning her head towards him once again.
"Your highness, I know how sincere your feeling but, I still fear how long those feelings will last."
With tears at the corners of her eyes, Maylene looks at Darrion with sadness.
"Maylene," Darrion uttered, unable to move his feet as he could feel the heaviness of the lady's heart.
"But Yui, she's the only one I have."
Stating her words, the lady left Darrion alone and went on her way crying.
The young man let a heavy sigh from his mouth leaning against the table behind him.
"How can I even be jealous of that? I'm so stupid."
Head up high, Darrion mumbled to himself full of regrets for allowing his greed took over him.
That night, Darrion went to have a drink at his grandma's tomb because he doesn't know whom to approach in the current state he is in.
"You're getting too impatient. It's not like you."
Karin appeared in front of him, also holding a bottle of wine in her hands.
Flustered, Darrion didn't know where to look. Although they meet occasionally all they talked about is work and nothing more.
"Mother. I-I mean your majesty."
Karin smiled at his son's agitated response and took a few steps to come near him.
"It's all right, I am already used to how you address me although the intention changed every time."
Cheeks turned red from embarrassment, and Darrion recall the ill-fated relationship he had with his mother growing up.
"That’s because,"
"I know it’s all right and I am very thankful for that."
Slowly lifting his head to peek at Karin's expression, he saw her gently smiling face.
It was the same as his smile and he could also recognize how much he resembled her mother.
Darrion felt a lump of emotions gathered in his throat as he watched Karin's glimmering face.
"Thank you for believing in me once again."
Tears then began to fall at the corners of his eyes.
After Karin left the palace, he confirmed that he was never hated rather he apprehended all his mother's intentions.
She just wanted to protect him by intentionally pushing him away.
After what happened to her relationship with her friends Karin fears that Kaizer will also put Darrion into the same hell as her.
She was also the one who told Darrion to hide his powers and if he accomplished so, Karin will love him.
That was her condition but all she did is to hurt his feelings more and more.
Karin places his wine down and wipes Darrion's tears saying, "You did well, surviving all this time. I'm so sorry that I am so weak."
Unable to control his tears anymore, Darrion began to weep as if like a kid, and Karin wrapped him tightly in her arms.
He did not give up the idea of reconciling with her that he even plan to visit her in her hometown after he deal with Kaizer.
Darrion shook his head and looked at his mother's face, touching her forehead with his,  still crying.
It was not his fault or his mother's fault that they both compromised their feelings and ended up hurting each other.
That was because Karin has no other choice and was deeply desperate to save him.
"Oh mom, how could I say that to her."
Recalling his conversation with Maylene earlier that day, Darrion began to realize how stupid he become.
Maylene is just as desperate as him because the only family she could count on is Yui. The same as how he wanted to live with Karin peacefully.
"I'm so stupid."
Karin hugged him tightly caressing his back, "We fight but we can always reconcile. No time is late unless you never take the step to work  it out."
Not too far, Daphne watched the two smiling with a sigh of relief.
