Chapter Thirty One

Day 4 cont
Nina
We were completely drenched from head to bottom by the time we neared the camp site, and it was still pouring heavily.
If one's not careful, they could even be carried away in this downpour. It's like it is raining cats and dogs over here.
As if on cue, a heavy wind came and blew us away, and like a twig, I was made to fly away, but before I was whisked away back to the jungle, I was held by a strong arm.
It turned around to see who it was, and yes, of course, it was Mike.
My saviour. He is somehow, mysteriously, always there to rescue me.
I've become such a damsel in distress, it seems.
But I also thought it was the professor until I turned around to see Mike. He is also drenched as well. All of us are, to be exact.
I stood there, staring at him with my water-drenched eyes.
What exactly is he doing in the rain?.
We both stood there, staring at each other in the rain.
It felt like at that moment we were two lovers standing in the rain, staring at each other with so much love in their eyes that soon they would lean in to kiss each other.
But I know it's not that moment, as we are just friends.
I felt his hand around my waist as he pulled me closer to him, and our chests met, and that made me freeze.
I couldn't see the look in his eyes because of the downpour, but I saw him lean in close to my face, and just like that, my eyes closed on their own accord.
Before I could register what was going on, I was yanked away, and I fell onto something rather hard.
I slowly opened my eyes to see the professor.
Professor Abraham gave me the most angriest look I could ever think of before pulling me along with him, not caring if I could actually keep up with his pace.
I turned around to see that Mike was still standing there in the rain, looking dumbfounded.
It was like the professor knew I was looking back at him as he tugged on my arm, and I slipped and fell to the ground.
I could feel the sting on my elbow and knee, but he didn't wait for me to brace myself as he yanked me up and kept on dragging me.
Even with the pain in my knee and elbow, he didn't stop walking, like he was about to fly to the skies while dragging me with him.
I want to tell him to stop, but I can't, as I don't want to be a victim to his anger as of now.
So I just kept on following him or letting myself be dragged away. Whatever you call it,.
When he reached the camp site, most of the people had already found their safety, so he headed straight to our tent.
To my surprise, he threw me into the tent as soon as we entered, and I lost my balance once again and fell flat on my face.
I was sure I had sprained an ankle, but before I could check, I felt him pull me up and pin me to the wall.
"Why don't you want to listen to a simple instruction? Why do you keep on testing my patience?" he growls in my ear.
He has pushed me to the wall and pinned my body with his, so I couldn't even move an inch.
"I think maybe you didn't hear what I said earlier," he continues.
Even though my eyes are shut, I can still feel his anger radiating from his body and voice.
"What did I tell you?" he asks.
I didn't know if I was supposed to answer him or not, so I just decided to keep quiet, just to be on the safer side.
But it turned out that I made the wrong decision.
"Speak up!" he barks, making me flinch, if that's possible, while being literally pushed to the wall.
"You told me to stay away from him," my voice came out in a whisper.
"Speak up louder; I can't hear you," he barks again.
"You told me not to see him again," I blurt out, a little bit louder, and my voice is chocked already with fear and not wanting to talk. I am on the verge of tears.
"Then why did you do so?" he asks.
He was just trying to help me as I was about to fall; that is what I wanted to tell him, but I knew better than to say that.
"Cat, get your tongue now; speak up!" he screamed, pushing me more, and I winced from the wounds I sustained.
"I'm sorry." I just couldn't help but cry out.
I didn't even make any mistakes, and yet I am apologizing.
"No, you're not, but I'm going to make you be now," he says.
He let go of me, and I was happy for the personal space for a moment.
But then I see him unbuckling his belt.
Just what exactly is he going to do?.
Is he going to hit me with it?. No.
What if he is going to...
My thoughts were cut short when he pulled out the belt and made a fist of it in his hand.
"Sir, please, I'm sorry. I won't do it ever again, I promise." I cry out while trying to cover my body so that he won't hit me. Not that it would help anyway.
He just ignored my pleas and walked over to me.
I just shut my eyes, waiting for the whip to land, but it didn't.
I looked up and saw him standing before me.
He squats to my position and then raises the hand that has the belt on.
"Look here," he says, pointing at his hand.
I gulped as I stared at his hand.
"You know what it is, right?" he asks.
I was quick to nod.
There's no way I would want my body to be trashed with a belt.
"And I'm sure you know how I can use it on you, right?" he asks again.
I nodded my head once again like a crazy person.
He moves his face so close to mine that our breaths are fanning each other.
"Now, if you dare defy my instructions once again, I'm going to tie you up on that bed and hit your butt till you can no longer sit for days," he says, pointing at the bed with his hands.
"Understood!" he says, and I quickly nod my head.
I quickly nodded my head once again.
"Use words to answer me, miss," he barks.
"Yes, yes, sir," I mutter.
"Now get up and change those clothes before you catch a cold," he says, walking away from me.
I lay there for a few minutes, shaking in fear.
I have never seen the professor this angry before. He was so furious earlier.
Even more furious than when he saw us in the morning.
I wonder just what has gotten into him?.
He is acting so overly protective and paranoid all the time.
I got up from the floor and walked over to my bag. Picking up a new pair of clothes, I head into the bathroom.
I didn't even bother to take a hot bath to ward off the cold, as I just changed my clothes as I walked out.
He was already sitting on the desk chair, reading, when I walked out.
He has also changed his own clothes.
I didn't even bother looking in his direction as I headed up to bed.
It is still pouring like the sky's going to be split into two, so I decided to get some rest.
With that, I hopped onto the bed, and soon, a very exhausting sleep overtook me.
Today's experience is also worth weighing a person down.
**********
All of a sudden, I opened my eyes to see that it was dark.
I had woken up because of the pain that I was feeling all over my body.
My face, my hand, my legs, and even my intestines are hurting right now.
The places where I had wounded myself earlier hurt the most.
I tried to move, but I couldn't because it was even painful to move.
"Help, please help." I cry out as the pain becomes unbearable.
My head is spinning and throbbing so much that I felt it would have been better if I had cut it and thrown it away.
"Oh! It's hurting," I whined again.
I just wanted to get up and give myself first aid, but I couldn't even do that.
So, I just lay there, helpless and crying for help.
Just like that, I started to see black, and all my senses began to fade away.
Even though I was slipping into darkness, I was glad that I wasn't feeling more pain anymore.
