Chapter Thirty Four

 Day 5 cont
Professor Abraham
"Good morning everyone" I greet.
I have managed to gather all the students in such a short notice.
"Good morning sir" the all echo which isn't necessary to me as I just want to go straight to the point and have everyone go on their way.
"So, I'll just go straight to the point now, uhmm, due to the rain that fell yesterday and is still drizzling up till now, we are going to cancel our trip today" I say.
Most of the students started cheering, as if I had announced to them that the field trip is cancelled all together.
"So we are all to stay within the camp grounds today and don't wander off in the rain or you'll end up getting sick" I say.
If the students were to fall ill now, then there would be a huge problem.
"So, you should be quick and take your breakfast now and head back into your rooms" I add.
"And also, no roll call for today" I add before switching off the microphone.
I just walk away before anyone would think to try and ask me any questions.
I rush over to the cafeteria to get some food for her.
I'm sure she'll be needing some while she wakes up.
They had prepared a sandwich and a tea today as it was the easiest thing to make.
I don't think that's good for an invalid.
I took some for myself and then I asked the cook to prepare some BRAT – bananas, rice, applesauce and toast for her.
"Is someone sick sir?" she asks.
I don't want to tell anyone that she's sick but.
"Yes, Nina's having a fever" I say.
"Oh dear! I'm so sorry, I hope it's not serious?" she asks.
I just nodded at her.
"Uhmm, let me go and prepare it for her quicky" she says.
She rushes back into the kitchen.
"Did I hear you say Nina's sick?" someone asks behind me.
It's my assistant.
"Yes, she seems to be having a fever" I answer.
She shakes her head.
"I'm sorry to hear about that, hope it's nothing serious?" she asks.
"She's resting now, the doctor has taken some tests on her as well and we'll know what is wrong with her then" I say.
We both found a seat and sit down.
"Uhmm could it be that, you know, could it be that she's pregnant?" She asks.
I almost choked on the tea I was drinking.
Seriously, why do every one keep on thinking that she is pregnant?.
Just because she is married that doesn't mean she is automatically pregnant.
There are many other reasons for someone to be sick you know.
"Uhmm, I don't think so" I answer.
"Why?" she asks as well, just like the doctor did.
And even this time, I do not have an answer to their question.
"You are newly wed, so this is bound to happen since you can't get enough of each other" she says with a hint of teasing in her voice.
So this is where she coming from. She thinks that we are newly wed.
Well, she is not far from the truth.
"But we are on a field trip so..."
"So what if you are on a field trip, huh?" she asks.
This woman is playing the mother this time I see and I have to listen to all her lectures.
"Many people come here for their honeymoon and I can't even count the number of how many got pregnant before leaving here" she says.
"To tell you the truth, even I got pregnant with my first child during a field trip, I fell in love with the guy and then, the hormones took over and here we are" she says, smirking at me.
Seriously, should I remind this woman that I am actually older than her.
"So it's nothing to be ashamed of, we are human beings and we have needs, and some field trip could not hinder that" she continues.
She's right about that though. We are human beings and this human being right here is sexually frustrated.
I can't even remember the last time I bed a woman and it's really starting to have a toll on me now.
Maybe that's one of the reasons why I am always so frustrated. But I'll have to hold it in a few more days.
"Don't worry, I won't tell a soul if that's what you want, I know how awkward it can be to them, they'll be ranting about how the chief instructor is busy enjoying himself and they are there with only there pillow to keep them company" she says.
Seriously, this woman needs a filter in her mouth.
Just then, the cook comes out with the food I requested.
Thank goodness for that because I don't think I could have survived ten minutes with all this talking.
"Thanks, I think I'll be heading back now" I say, getting up from my seat.
"Please be sure to extend my greetings to her and tell her I said hard luck" the cook says before walking away to attend to others.
"And one more thing Prof" she stops me, I mean, my assistant.
"Be sure to invite me over for the naming ceremony" she says and turns away, as if she has said nothing wrong.
I just shook my head and walked away back to our tent.
On my way back, I saw that guy, what was his name again?.
Well, I don't remember and I don't care.
He even had the audacity to stand in front of me.
Sure he is the disrespectful type and I hate those kinds.
He didn't even bother to greet me as his elder and senior the I'm sure he is still in the learning category.
He just went straight ahead to ask me.
"Where's Nina?" he asks.
The nerves of this guy.
"I don't think you have the right to know where she is, now get out of my way" I growl at him.
But he didn't move.
"I'm not moving here until you tell me where she is" he protested.
Really! Gone were the days where students actually respect their teachers.
I moved closer to him, feeling my patience wearing off.
"Listen here young man, I suggest you mind your own business and stay away from my wife" I went straight to the point as well.
"What are you afraid of, that she'll leave you and come to me because you're old, well, that's so low of you to think of your wife like this, I mean, you don't even deserve her" he says.
I am trying really hard to hold back my anger right now and I'm worried that she might have woken up by now.
It's been an hour since I left the tent.
I opened my mouth to give him a befitting reply but we were cut short by one of the instructors.
"Prof, is everything ok over here?" he asks.
Maybe be have noticed the tension between us.
He was quick to move away.
"No Sir, Prof here is actually on his way and I was just greeting him" he says and forms a smile on his face.
Such a two faced jerk. I know there's definitely something off about him and I'm planning to find out soon enough.
"Yes, I'll be on my way now" I say and move forward as he has already moved away from my way.
"Let me hold this for you Prof, you shouldn't be holding such things, you should have at least called someone to pick it up for you" the instructor says as he moves forward to collect the food flask that contains Nina's food.
"No, it's no big deal, I can handle it, you go on with your activities" I politely refuse.
"Ok sir, if you insist" he says.
"I'll see you around then" I say and turn to work away but I turned around to see if that lowly guy is still there.
He motions to his eyes with his two fingers and then at me, indicating that he'll be keeping an eye on me.
Well, I'd like to see him try.
Seriously, why can't Nina see through all this facade. The guy is such a two face and she keeps on hanging around with him.
Now she has even gotten ill because of him.
I decided to shrug his thoughts off and head back to the room.
She is still laying on the bed with her eyes open when I came in.
Only her eyes moved to see who has come in and then she closes them after that.
Tears rolled out of her eyes once again, making my heart ache.
I just wish I could do something about it.
I rushed over to her and place the flask on the nightstand.
Then I sit her up with the support of the pillows and then I open the food flask.
I pick out the spoon and try to feed her but she diverts her head away from me.
"Come on, don't be stubborn, you need to eat something, just a little" I try to pacify her.
But she still didn't want to eat.
"Come on, just two sips and I'll let you be" I say.
That made her open her mouth a little and I feed her.
After about five spoon, she refused to take any again and I didn't force her.
Since she's on drip, she won't be feeling hungry anytime soon and the food will also be there when she needs it.
"Get well soon, ok" I say, placing my hand on her cheek.
I let her sit upright until she started to doze off once again.
I put her back to bed and I was planning to head back to the balcony when the doctor comes in.
This assures me that the results are out.
The two of us walked away to the balcony in order to not disturb her.
"So?" I ask.
"She's positive..."
"What?"
