Homepage/HANG ON, SUMMER/
CHAPTER FOURTEEN
Summer's Point of View
I was woken up by the high-pitched voice of a woman screaming. It was Aunt Sonia and I think she was shocked by Sunday's appearance. Sunday, on the other hand looks like he was woken up too and now terrified.
"Who's dog is that?" Aunt Sonia said as I pet Sunday, comforting him.
"It's mine, Auntie. I just adopted him yesterday" I explained. She looks confused, does she think that if she left I wouldn't have a productive life? Well, it seems new to me also.
"Is it a dog? Omg" Yola said and even pushed her mother to see the dog fully.
"Can I pet him?" She said so excitedly. She does really want to get a dog but Aunt Sonia is terrified and has a traumatic experience with a dog.
"Yes, you can" I said and she excitedly but gently held Sunday. I saw Sunday wiggling his tail like he smelled Yola as a good person that would take care of him.
I just noticed that it would be a perfect gift for her to have a dog. If I die, Sunday can have her as a new parent. I also saw how Yola was really into it and it's my first time to see her get really invested into something.
"How could you get a dog?! You know that I dislike dogs! Is it your house, huh?!" Aunt Sonia said.
"I won't let him go outside of my room, I will walk him to the playground and backyard. I promised to you that he would be a good boy, please Auntie" I begged at her. Yola also did that and promised that she would also take care of Sunday and do her best.
"Okay, but you should really do your promises" Aunt said and left. There's a smile that left on Yola's face before she faced me.
"Can I play with him in my room, Summer?" She asked me and I nodded so she quickly grabbed Sunday and left the room. So I would really leave Sunday with Yola.
I grabbed the paper that states my seven wishes then checked the 'I want to adopt a dog or cat' part. I went outside the room as i heard the loudness of Aunt Sonia, i think nagging at someone which is Fiona.
"I told you, I just said to your Aunt Cory that your sister needs you for one month and after that you should leave, '' Aunt Sonia said loudly. I go down and see Sari just taking a nap. She's really a deep sleeper or she's used to it.
"But my sister still needs me. I'm begging you Auntie, I just need to be here for the end of summer" Fiona begged.
"Why? Do you guys reconcile with each other? We are here now so she doesn't need you" Aunt Sonia then stared at me, waiting for my answers.
"I have a terminal illness, Auntie," I honestly said which bring horror to her face.
"What? What's your illness? Don't make jokes that aren't funny, "she said. I gave her the letter that my parents and even the doctor brought. She really read it.
She even woke up Sari and told her to translate it for her. When Sari read through it, she also got horror on her face. She looked at me and hugged me tightly.
We aren't even closed. Me, Sari and Yola treated each other as strangers in this house so this is so awkward for me. Seeing them smile and even hug me like this would be their goodbye made me teary-eyed.
"Is it really not curable? You would die within the summer. The world is really cruel for you, Summerie" She said and continued hugging me, i also hear her sobs.
"Okay, I'll ask for your Aunt Cory to extend your vacation here in the house. Bond with us, Summer" Aunt Sonia said and went to her room.
Someone knocked on the gate and Fiona went to it. I already knew that it would be Jake and Kyle since they are the ones who really can get along with us in this neighbourhood.
The two of them went inside as Sari saw them. She already gave them her stubborn attitude, like she always does when she sees unfamiliar faces. Yola went downstairs together with Sunday who happily went to me.
"Hi?" Yola greeted them confused. Jake and Kyle also greet them with a smile then I saw Sunday wiggle his tail at them.
"May we request the two sisters? Uhm we're Jake and Kyle, we're twins and just live in front of your house" Jake said with a small smile on his face.
"Do you know them, Fiona, Summer?" Sari asked and we just nodded.
"We want Summer and Fiona to bond with us first so you guys can go tomorrow if you want to" Sari added and Jake just nodded and respectfully said thank you to Sari and Yola. Then they went outside the house with Fiona.
"What are we going to do, Sari?" Yola asks.
"We're going to where Summer wants to," Sari said and went upstairs. This should be the right time to be able to do the photoshoot as I want them to be with me and take a picture that they could keep.
"Where are we going, Summer?" Yola asks.
"We can have a photoshoot," I said. Fiona entered the house again and approved my requests. Then Yola went upstairs, prolly going to change her clothes. Fiona and I exchanged looks and we also went upstair to our room.
I just picked out the most decent dress that I have. I looked at the mirror and took a deep sigh. In this case, if the world continues to be like this I think i can't go. I was now scared of dying and losing the people around me.
After the dress-up, I went to Fiona's room to get my make-up done. I couldn't do it and I don't have any interest in doing it. She applies it happily to me and chit-chat me.
"Would you do the photoshoot again, but with Kyle and Jake?" she asks me while applying the eyeliner at me.
"Hmm, probably because I also want them to have pictures with me that could be kept" I answered.
"How does it feel when you can meet our parents? Is it exciting? Is it thrilling? Is it sad?" She asks me with a sad and teary face. She looks like she wants to cry but choose not to.
"I was now afraid of the thought that I would somewhat bid my goodbyes in this world. I was afraid that I might not see them. I'm afraid that my beliefs aren't true. My feelings was mostly afraid" I responded and sighed deeply.
When she hears that, she stops questioning me and just focuses on doing my make-up.
"Done," she said and smiled at me. And she quickly applies make-up on herself. I also help her dress up as she wears the same dress with me but different types. I wear nude high waist dress and she wears a nude backless dress.
I went outside and saw that Yola and Sari also dress the same colour but make it beige. They told me that Aunt Sonia is still dressing up and preparing herself. Yola hugged me and tapped my back.
"You could ask me anything and I would do it, I promised" Yola said. I saw Sunday.
"I want you to take care of Sunday once I am gone," I said shortly. She nods and smiles at me.
I was now surrounded by the people that loved me. Before, I felt like it was just me in the world and no one would help me. I want to die before thinking of those things that makes my heart break but now honestly i want to stop the time and cherish the moment.
I only wish that this would last, that this time I hope that I can truly cherish things like this. I am scared and terrified of the things that might happen. Jake, Kyle, Fiona, Aunt Sonia, Yola and Sari are the people that I want to share a bond with. And Sunday, I would still spend time with him for the remaining time that I had.
One month and twenty nine days wouldn't be enough time but I would spend things and make things right. And that would be my final wish and final settlement on this world.Download Novelah App
