I decided to go downstairs when I heard my stomach growl. I was staying in my room for 3 hours after I woke up and my heart still feels heavy but I have nothing to do but to face Logan.
I am taking a step in the staircase when I smell the aroma of food. I feel more hungry.
I thought Brick and I would be the only one to eat together today but it seems not because I saw Logan sitting across from Brick at the table.
They sense that I am coming so they looked at me greeted me.
"Goodmorning..." Logan greeted but I didn't even look at him or even smile.
"Goodmorning, Vianne" Brick greeted and I returned the greeting and smiled at him.
I didn't turn to Logan and then sat next to Brick. I felt that he was staring at both of us but I didn't look back at him.
Logan was about to get some rice but his hand hung in the air when Brick already putting some rice on my plate so I looked at him. His eyes are not on me but on the plate and on Brick who is transferring food to my plate.
I ignored the emotion I saw in his eyes and turned to Brick.
"Thank you" I said to Brick who smiled at me and continued to put food on my plate. Brick also poured my glass of juice so I thanked him again.
There was a moment of silence at the dining table but it was broken when Brick spoke.
"Vianne, I'm going home tomorrow. My vacation is over and my workers miss me," he said and winked at me.
"Did you enjoy it?" I asked him
"Of course. Especially since you're here, I enjoy it even more" he said smiling at me.
I smiled at him and I looked at Logan when I heard him say something.
"It's good that you thought about coming back, Brick. This is probably the longest vacation you've had in your entire life," Logan said.
"Yeah? It's like you want to send me away" Brick said laughing and Logan looked at him seriously.
"Your always welcome here, Brick, if you want another vacation" I said to Brick and they both turned to me. Brick smiled even more at what I said.
"Really?" he asked, shocked and amazed by what I said.
I nodded to him.
"Will you miss me?" Brick asked. It's uncomfortable to answer his question especially when Logan is seriously looking at both of us.
I smile half-heartedly and answer him.
"Of course. You are my friend after all, Brick" I said to him and his smile seemed to diminish a little but it returned to its wideness and nodded at me.
"Don't worry, Vianne. I will visit here once in a while and I will take a vacation here again" said Brick
"I think you should look for another place for your next vacation, Brick. I know you don't want to go back on the same place again on your vacation" Logan said.
"You thought you really knew me, Logan..." Brick said seriously so I looked at him. The tone of his words changed but his face had no expression.
I also looked at Logan to see what his reaction was and I saw that he was frowning and seemed to be wondering about Brick. Didn't he notice that Brick is weird sometimes?
"People change, Logan. I like it here and I'm tired of traveling far away, so I'm going to spend my vacation here at Vianne's house because this place is not too far away" Brick lost his seriousness and was replaced by his usual hyper aura.
"Besides, it's okay with Vianne for me to take a vacation here..." Brick said and Logan was still looking at him seriously but eventually he looked away from Brick and focused his attention on the food.
The dining room was quiet and the silence was only broken when Brick spoke. Logan didn't speak anymore but I could feel that he was secretly watching Brick and me.
We finished eating and Hilda was putting the food away. I saw that Logan was about to approach me so I said goodbye to Brick saying I would go to my room first and I didn't look back at Logan again.
I know I should let him explain but I am still hurt. Those scenes made me always think what will his reaction be if he knows about my past. It seems like he won't accept me.
LOGAN'S POV
She still not ready to listen to me...
I sigh deeply as I stare at her walking towards her room.
I turned to Brick as he walked out of the house. He's weird and this is the first time he did this to me. I also noticed that he and Vianne are quite close. I have no problem with that but I feel that he was acting strangely and I am a bit pissed because of what he did yesterday. Why did he turn off his phone? I know Vianne is mad at me and maybe command him to turn off his phone but at least he updates me in the morning where they went. But I haven't received any updates from him.
I walked out of the house and saw him sitting in the swimming lounge so I sat at the chair across him.
"Where did you and Vianne go yesterday, Brick?" I asked him. He turned to me
"It's a secret, Bro" he said as he laughed and looked at me. I felt like my head got hot from what he said.
"Tell me, Brick" I couldn't hide my annoyance with him in my tone.
"Where we were yesterday, you don't have to know anymore, Logan. What you did yesterday hurts her so much that she doesn't want to come home because you might be here.and she was right, you're here..."
"You should still update me. You know she's my fiancee---"
"Yes, she's your fiancee yet you do that to her?" he cut me off with his words.
"It was not my intention to---"
He cut me off again
"Oh come on bro..we are men after all, I understand the lust we feel but we should do it responsibly especially you...you have a fiancee"
I was about to speak when he got ahead of me.
"If you can't wait, why don't you do it with Vianne? You two will get married anyway and there's no issue in that" he said to me with a smirk.
I frowned at what he said. What the fuck did he say?
The smirk on his lips got wider. "I bet you didn't let out your lust on Vianne 'cause you want to respect her and instead you let it out on others" he clicked his tounge many times after saying that.
"You know, I didn't feel lust." I explain even though it's not necessary to explain this to him.
I sigh and lower my gaze. ."Maybe, I am a jerk to do that. I didn't think carefully"
"You know, if you can't treat her better and respectfully, other men can do"
The guilt that has already been rising in me is added more burden to me. I am totally a jerk.
"I can treat her better, bro. What do you think? Is she going to consider me as a replacement of you?"
I quickly went to him and grabbed his collar.
"What's fucking wrong with you? You're acting strangely" I gave him a death glare
"Oh, chill, bro. I am just joking, your totally a jerk for hurting her, she cried a lot yesterday. But don't you worry, I will not say just a single word to her about your past." He smirked and I am getting annoyed watching him.
I immediately felt a sudden pain in my chest knowing that there's still a dark story from my past that I couldn't tell Vianne.
I slowly loosened my hold on his collar and I saw his smile grow even more.
"Why did you suddenly talk about my past?" I stared hard at him while speaking
"Oh? Did it bother you?" He sarcastically said.
I really don't understand him with his actions and words now. He was really different from the Brick I knew.
"I just give you an assurance bro that I will not tell your past to her" He slowly smiled at me
"I'm on your side bro" He said and tapped my shoulder before leaving me.
I frowned and followed him until he entered the house.
I can't understand Brick right now but it immediately made me sad that I can't tell Vianne the part of me in the past. It's just that I am scared to tell her, worrying that she couldn't accept me.
I lower my gaze and slowly remove my watch. It felt even heavier in my chest when I saw the scar left by my bitter and painful past.
