"Father, I want to help." Rue pleaded, not minding all the stares, including her stepmother's judging look beside her.
Demitri looks at her with a confused look. But she just glance at him with a meaningful stare then looks straight to her father's side with determination on her eyes.
"This is a serious matter, Ruella." Her father said in a serious and warning tone.
As much as she wanted to say that she's already used to this kind of situation, she couldn't since there are ears listening to them.
"Just let me, please." She pleaded again with a low voice. Careful not to upset her father even more.
"Sister, it's an urgent and important meeting. Don't cause unnecessary accumulation." She heard her brother, Ezekiel said in a low tone while starring at her. It's like an insult in a subtle way.
Demitri is aware that the two of them don't get along well, and he's also aware that Rue might be triggered by his words.
She was about to speak when Demitri interfere.
"I can look after her, I'll make sure he won't cause a trouble." He said in a determined voice.
Ezekiel's eyes slightly narrowed at his words, it's like her sister is the damsel in distress and he's the knight and shining armor.
"That's enough, we don't have to waste our time on arguing." Mr. Luciano speaks with authority, as he witnessed them exchanging glares. He then slowly walks away from the table with the informant beside him. While others followed him.
Rue slowly walks beside Demitri's as they also followed them towards the door. And everyone in the room filled with noises again as they exited. Even they're just quiet for the whole time of the scene earlier, their ears are all listening attentively.
"Who's the prisoner?" Mr. Luciano immediately asked as they all sat down on a chair. They're inside the room where important meetings are being held with two facing long couch and one single chair in between.
"It's Xenos. But we're already tracking his trace." The informant deliberately said, as if he's careful not to make him upset. But by just hearing the name, Mr. Luciano's face frowned.
Everyone become more serious and the room is filled with deafening silence. As Rue took a glance to all of them, their face's is visible of rage with anxiousness. But she doesn’t understand why they're acting strangely.
Rue slowly moves her elbow against Demitri beside her to get his attention. And when she meets his eyes, she looks at him with a questioning eye. Surely, he will get what she meant. They both know that she doesn't have any idea regarding with the clan's internal issues.
Demitri leaned his back towards the couch as he crossed his arms over his chest to level his body on hers.
"One of the rebellious and dangerous prisoner." He whispered smoothly. She nodded when she heard his statement as she falls into a deep thought, thinking that might be really serious since informant said earlier that someone helped him.
"Tell us more about what exactly happened." Ezekiel speaks, breaking the silence. It seems like he's now acting up according to his designated position. He's sitting up straight on the right side of the couch.
The informant leaned forward. He's also sitting up straight beside Ezekiel.
"Since it happened while the occasion is being held, there are only few guards that are left at the dungeon. And when the intrusion happened, they are all passed out by the intruder." He started his narration. While all of them are listening to him attentively.
They choose to remain silent. With the narration of the informant, they're having a conclusion that the intruder is not just an ordinary vampire.
"Then one of the guards that I have been sent to be a substitute on the dungeon, reported the accident." He continued with an alarming tone.
Heavy breaths can be heard inside the room, and the atmosphere is getting more intense.
"How sure are you that someone helped him and he didn't escape by himself?" Rue suddenly interfered. No one could read what's going on her mind with her serious face.
The informant's attention diverted to her, she also stared directly into his eyes. While everyone also looks at her with interest.
"Since Xenos is separated from other prisoners, his room is securely guarded and locked from the outside. And he can't escape from the inside no matter what he does." The informant explained with certainty.
"Since there's no proof that someone really helped him, I'll consider that as an assumption." She said in a serious voice as she leaned her back on the couch.
"Do you have a doubt on our security, Ruella?" Ezekiel suddenly interrupted with a knitting eyebrow.
She looks at him intently, trying to suppress her emotions.
"That's not what I mean, brother. I'm trying to say, we can't just conclude without confirmation, right?" She said nonchalantly as she emphasized the word 'brother'.
All of them looks at the two-exchanging conversation, as they feel the sprouting tension between them.
A frown can be seen on his face. "Salem spends hundreds of years managing the security of our dungeon, and knows well of its complexities. Aren't we supposed to consider his opinion?" Ezekiel responded with arrogance, referring to the informant.
She smoothly took a deep breath as she smiles at him. Demitri noticed her composing herself, she's already losing her temperance.
"I'm sorry to interrupt." Demitri quickly speaks as he holds her hands to keep her cool. While Ezekiel on the other side, his eyes landed at him.
"I think she's just suggesting to have a further investigation with the incident." Demitri said in a firm voice but composed manner. That made Ezekiel clinched his jaw in annoyance.
On the other hand, Mr. Luciano slightly nodded his head as he heard his words. And somehow agrees with the suggestion.
"You're right. We should conduct further investigation to have a lead to the intruder." Mr. Luciano announced with a smile as he leaned his back on his chair.
