Chapter 13 CONFESSIONS
Freya didn't know how to console her friend. Yet it was kinda funny in a way. One minute Blue wasn't ready to join the Big Boars. The moment she was ready, there was no all girls team. She felt saddened by such a news. Then, she saw the look that transited between Jason and Blue. Her blood raged and boiled.
She knew how much Jason had caused her friend's pain. She hated him. Whatever game he was planning on her friend, she would have to find a way to talk him out of it.
They walked towards the football field gradually. They would be having music class soon, she just have to find a way to comfort Blue.
"They would be better days. Other times specifically for you. It doesn't have to be here." Freya said as they walked towards the seats in the stadium.
Blue turned to her friend and feigned a smile. "I'll like to be alone." She told Freya.
Freya paused. "You are sure? Music class will be starting in twenty minutes." Freya said.
"I'm sure I'll catch up with the class." Blue said.
Freya nodded, took one last look at her friend then started out out of the field. She wished to God that she could fix it. Sadly, she could do nothing to help her friend. She knew how much Blue loved basketball.

Blue sat still watching as some birds flew down to the field, chirping away. Perhaps, birds had more freedom than she would ever have. She left her hometown where most of her childhood friends were, started a new school in a place that she clearly doesn't fit in. Trying to join the basketball ball team had been one hell of a choice, now that too, was also squashed.
She sighed.
Maybe it was for the best. She can save all those dreams for the nearest future. Perhaps, she might even get trained to be drafted into the NBA.
"Can I join you?"
She looked up and her heart jumped out of her. Standing before her was Jason. She stood up abruptly, glancing around nervously. Freya shouldn't have gone far, where was she?
As if sensing what she was looking for, he said to her. "Freya is long gone."
"What are you doing here? Did you follow me here?" She finally found her voice.
"Please, can you sit down? I will like to talk to you." He pleaded.
Why was he sounding so polite and warm to her? Where was the bully she once knew? She watched as his tongue ran across his lower lip. Suddenly, their shared kiss was playing itself in her head. All she wanted to do was run, hide.. from him.
He was brushing some strands of his hair backwards, probably waiting for her response. "I won't take much of your time." He pleaded still.
She sat at the far end from him, cautious about the fact that he was close to her. She could sense him, smell him... suddenly everything about him awoken the feminine being in her. She swallowed looking up at his eyes. When his eyes found hers, she suddenly looked away.
"I know you've been running away from me." He started, watching her intently.
She pushed back the side of her hair, trying to divert her gaze to the birds on the field. "I haven't been running away. I've just been busy." She said as a matter of fact.
He smiled at that, bowed his head slightly then looked back at her. "I came to confess my feelings to you." He continued.
Her eyes flew up to his face. What feelings was he talking about? Certainly not about the way he had been cruel to her!
"I started liking you the very first day you walked into the arts room. I couldn't bring myself to admit that I was falling for my brother's girlfriend. When I saw you in the arts room, I agree I was a bit of an asshole. Then, I met you again in Joab's car, it piqed me that my brother was the first to meet you. It grew stronger that I certainly had to find a way to conceal my feelings like a coward," he paused.
She met his eyes this time, allowing herself to sink into the depths of his eyes.
"I have been nothing but a coward. Afraid to deal with the fact that I have fallen for you. I have liked you for a long while. I wish to come plain and lay myself bare at your feet." He said.
Goosebumps shot through her skin. Her heart was beating furiously that she thought he could hear it. Hanson had never confessed to her this way that her heart nearly exploded. Was something wrong with her heart?
"I...I... can't...I can't breathe." She gasped at intervals, holding her chest.
Jason stood up from his seat at once, nestled himself in her seat while he grabbed both of her hands pulling her close. "Are you okay?" He asked looking into her eyes.
She looked back into his eyes, placed his hands on her chest, his eyes bulged at her action. "Am I okay? Why is it beating so fast?" She asked him.
Jason smiled. Then he nodded. "You're perfectly okay."
She nodded, standing up to catch her breath. He stood up to join her. "No, don't come any closer.... Please." She begged.
"But....,"
"I am perfectly fine, like you said." She said.
He nodded. "I'm sorry to come out this way. It should have been sooner." He apologized.
"You understand that I'm in a relationship with your older brother, do you?" She suddenly found the will to ask him.
"Yes, I know that. But that is for you to decide. I am not pushing you to do what you wouldn't want to do. I ....only want to come clean to you." He confessed, then he stood up ready to leave.
She watched him briefly, unable to say a word.
"I'm not waiting for an answer from you. Not today, probably not tomorrow. It can wait, whenever you are ready, I will be." He said to her.
Blue watched him, surprise written on her face. When did Jason become a boy versed with poetry? Great with words that it made her heart burst with pride?
He stopped to turn to look at her again. "I saw you in the basketball court. Can I give you a piece of advice? Don't let anything deter you from doing what you've always loved. If you want something badly, get it by all means." He smiled at her.
She watched him until he disappeared. That was when the words sank into her head. Her eyes lit up and she knew exactly what to do.Download Novelah App
