Chapter 16 BETWEEN THE BROTHERS

Blue watched as Hanson raced up to her immediately he sighted her by the school park. He had his car collected finally from Saint V's. He smiled widely as he raced towards her. Instead, Blue was staring at Jason who also came out of the other side of Hanson's car. Jason was staring back at Blue as he walked calmly towards them.
"Blue?" Hanson called out to grab her attention.
She looked up at Hanson then gave a quick glance at Jason again but he wasn't coming towards them as she thought, he turned to the other sidewalk.
He was walking away? Like they never shared anything last night?
What was happening to her? Was she already falling in love with Jason? After all the awful things he had done to her? Yet, the fact that he was in her room last night, even took her to a stylist, had her hair cut...... her hand slid down the length of her newly made wig.
All that happened in just a night! Wasn't that insane? She felt a wild connection with Jason which sweetened her. Oh, did she even remember the inclusion of the scribbled letter?
She recalled that when she had entered her room after her mother's call, she couldn't find Jason anymore. He wasn't under the bed like she had left him.
Then, she saw the letter, an handwritten scribbled piece of letter.
"Will you go out with me?" It read.
Her heart had jumped out of her excitedly at the remembrance of it.
"Blue?" Hanson called again, then turned around to see what she was staring at. "Who are you staring at like that?" He asked.
"Em...no one in particular," she smiled waving him off.
Hanson nodded. "I have free tickets for a movie on Friday. What do you think?" He smiled.
She sighed. She thought he wanted to soothe her heart about the fact that she couldn't join basketball team. Now, was she beginning to hate Hanson because he didn't do enough for her unlike his brother? Or, was she beginning to hate him because her heart didn't scream in ecstasy whenever they were together?
"I will be quite busy on Friday." She told him, walking off, her eyes searching for Jason in the throng of students who were walking towards their classrooms.
Hanson grabbed her hand. "What is it, Blue? Are you alright?"
She closed her eyes for a second, pushed his hand off which surprised him the more.
"I am fine, Hanson. I'm only sad that you didn't even go all out for me to be included in that tryouts. You know how badly I wanted to be in that team." She tried to pin something on him. She only wanted him gone, and to do that she had to guilt trip him into making him feel bad.
"But you know it is an all guys team!" He wailed in surprise.
Other students who were passing by them turned to look at them. Blue felt slightly embarrassed by the tone of his voice.
"How else would you have wanted me to do? You can't play in a team only meant for boys. And there is no female team for now," he paused to catch his breath.
"There are several sports which you can try out. Such as tennis, football....,"
Her eyes bulged in surprise. "Really, Hanson?" She pushed him aside as she started walking away, irritated at his words.
"Blue, don't be like this." He begged.
"You of all people should know how badly I want to be in a basketball team. Then, you go off saying whatever other people had said to me." She said to him.
"Blue, there are several other things you can do as a girl that would bring you to light.....," He continued unaware of her rage.
Her rage began to boil, heating up that she thought she would explode. Hanson would never do anything to help her, he was only infatuated with her skills but was not willing to help her.
"You know what?" She interrupted him as she stopped to face him. His smile grew when he saw her being calm. "Stop following me, will you? If you take another step with me, I will only have to turn the other way around." She feigned a smile.
Hanson was surprised at that crooked smile of hers even more shocked at her words. He couldn't bring himself to say a word. He stood still, watching Blue leave. After about a thousand thoughts had rumaged through his mind, he turned to head towards the senior block.
********
Blue started up the stairs that led to her classroom, passed the staffroom then headed towards the toilet. The door to the boy's restroom opened and a hand suddenly grabbed Blue's, pulling her in. She gasped in shock, swoon round then her back landed against the door of the toilet.
Jason was standing before her, his eyes skate over her face. He reached out a hand and locked the toilet's door. His hands held both of her arms while his eyes found hers. Her heart started pounding furiously. Suddenly, her palms were sweating, she couldn't breathe.
Does Jason know what he was doing to her? Why does she feel like this whenever she was with him?
"The bell will be rung soon," his tongue swept over his lower lip.
She couldn't stop herself from thinking what it would feel like to have his lips on her lips again. Maybe, she was wanting too much. Maybe, she was having too much of some fantasies of him...
"I wanted to see you alone." He said to her, his eyes boring deep into hers. "Did you get my letter?" He asked her.
"Yes." She nodded.
"Are you alright?" He asked, studying her.
She turned her away. Did he notice how flushed she was? If only he knew what was playing in her head. His hand went under her chin, tilting her head up.
Her heart began to hammer again. Would he kiss her? The way he stared at her, made her legs feel like jelly.
"I'll pick you up for a movie on Friday. I was given two free tickets." He said to her.
The same thing Hanson had said, were they now sharing free tickets? But the only difference was who her heart was beating for.
"Yes, I'll go." She nodded vehemently without thinking.
He smiled, biting down on his lips.
Jeez, why does he keep doing that to her?
"Great, I'll pick you up from home in the evening." He said. Then, turned to moved her away from the door.
The touch of him burned her skin, she couldn't think straight. This euphoria was eating her up, making her feel senseless.
"The wig look good on you. I couldn't even tell that it is a wig." He acknowledged.
"Let me check....," Jason opened the door and peeped then withdrew his head into the toilet. "You can go out now. No one will notice." He smiled at her.
She nodded sheepishly, held on to her school bag then stepped out of the toilet. The moment the door was closed behind her, her eyes caught hold of her friend, Freya Ling.
Freya Ling walked up towards her, staring back at the restroom then back at her.
"Blue?" She called in surprise.
Blue's heart thumped in fear. Her hands began to shake. To steady them, she held onto her school bag tighter.
"Why are you coming out from the boy's restroom, Blue?" Freya asked in surprise.
