55: You don't Understand
(When Naiah and Quenda meet in the middle of the night)
Red's POV
"What is it?"
"Just try to act with them. Everything they asked you to do, just pretend that you have no choice and do it without hesitation" I said.
"Who are they?" I smiled at her
"Sin and Kanner"
"What?!" she was so shocked that her eyeballs might fall from their sockets.
"Yes. There's one thing you should do aside from that," I said. I looked up to see the night sky that was always making me calm. Dark, I love darkness no matter what other people say. I grew up with it, with darkness.
"I don't understand you" I chuckled darkly and looked at her eyes with so much coldness. Her eyes wavered. She tried to hide it from me but she can't as she gulped down.
"You should. Or better yet, just die without bidding goodbye to your sister?" I smirked at her and put my hands at my pockets, my hood's pocket.
"H-how?" her eyes widen in terror. I let out a laugh.
"How did--how did you know my sister?" she asked, her voice are shaking as well as her hands. I glanced at her hands, clasped together.
"Did you forget what you found out about me? That fast?" I asked and playfully act innocent. I lifted an eyebrow when I saw her, crumpled the hem of her shirt.
"Don't you dare hurt my sister" she glared at me? I smiled at her as if I am a kind person.
"I do not dare..." I trailed off. I looked at her intently
"As long as you'll act with me. Besides, you're good at it, am I right?" she creased her forehead.
"What are you talking about?" she asked, I scoffed. But I force a smile. I don't care if it seems like a fake one.
"You're doing it again!" I pointed out. From a scared-y cat, she lifts the side of her lips for a wicked smile.
"You're really smart" she suddenly said. I scoffed and smiled at her mockingly.
"Who said I'm not?" I retorted back. She clicked her tongue and crossed her arms over her chest.
"Well me?" she chuckled after that and stared at the road in front of us.
"Why don't you take off your mask?" I asked her without looking at her. Hands-on my pocket, I puffed air.
"Do I need to? You already know who I am" she stated. My eyes flickered.
"Of course you need to!" I said shrugging my shoulder.
"Tsk, what a pain in the ass" she exclaimed. I saw her grope her chin as if feeling for something. And she felt it, she gripped on it then take it off of her face. I looked at the thing in her hands. A fake face.
I crossed my arms over my chest as I glanced at her face. Her real face may I add.
"Now, that's what we call, surprise!" I acted up. I even lifted both of my hands as if welcoming her in a hug. She glared at me and I just laugh at her.
"Surprise is an understatement," she said shrugging.
"Where is your sister? Does she know this stupid act of yours?" I ask, lifting my left eyebrow.
"Don't call it stupid" I smirked at her as her tone changed. I faced her and raise my brows. I chuckled again.
"It's stupid! Why pretend that you're Quenda?"
"Cause, I want to be like her," she said through gritted teeth. I tilted my head and shook my head afterward.
"You want to be like her? Why? Cause, she's stronger than you?" I sarcastically said. I looked intently into her eyes.
"No... you can't be like her, know why?" I asked as I glared at her. She blinked as she can't handle my stares.
"She's..." I trailed off; I looked ahead, gazing at the dark road.
"Never mind," I said and put my hands in my pocket.
"Now that you can fool everyone with that thing," I said as I glanced at her hands.
"Just use it for a while," I said changing the sensitive topic.
"And as for your sister, I'll deal with her," I said.
"Don't kill her" she said after a minute. Her voice nearly broke.
"What did you say?" I asked as didn't expect her to tell me that.
"Please I beg you... don't kill my sister" she's already crying. Oh, sad. But Nah, I don't care.
"I won't," I said and took a step forward when I felt her hands on it. She's already on the ground, kneeling. I gritted my teeth, I am no God. She hugged my legs as she cried.
"Don't kill her" I shut my eyes closed.
"I already said, I won't," I said as I smirk.
"You promised?" she asked as if she's still a kid, making promises and all.
"Yeah," I said nodding my head, "Now, can you let me go?" I asked she nodded her head.
As I walked through the dark alley, "Promised? Since when did I promise? I don't do promises since she died" I mumbled sarcastically to myself as I leave the place.
"It's done," I said in a monotone voice as I glanced at the girl leaning in the wall.
"Why don't you tell her that you know what she's doing?" I asked her.
"No, she'll think of another way to stop my death," she said, I laugh at what she said.
"Your death?" I sarcastically pointed out.
"Don't spice things up" she exclaimed annoyed. I clicked my tongue and rolled my eyes.
"It's not my fault that you messed things up," I said and turn my back on her attempting to leave the scene.
"Wait..." I smirked and faced her. Her head is down and as if she's trying to be so pitiful. Tsk, what a pain in the ass, as what her sister said.
"What is it? Fire it up" I said as I waited for her to say something. Guess, it'll be about her sister. And I'm right.
"Make sure she won't be able to know this one" I tilted my head and nodded after some seconds.
"You really love your sister huh?" I asked and sneered, nonsense.
"You once had a sister, Red" upon hearing what she said, I immediately look and glare at her. She takes a step back when I attempt to take one.
"Don't ever mention her. And once you do..." I said through gritted teeth as I walk near her. She takes several steps backward away from me. My eyes are glaring at me with such rage. She dares to mention my sister into this, she won't like the consequences.
"I can't promise you will meet your death sooner than the date you suppose to," I said, clenching my hands, I nearly drop it into her face. Heaving a deep breath, I take a step backward. I turn my back on her and was about to walk away when she said something.
"Don't deny it, Red. I know you're still grieving from her death. You need to accept that she's gone!" I closed my eyes shut. Keeping my calm and stopping myself not to burst, I continue to walk ahead. She doesn't know anything I've been through.
"Red, I remember. I remembered all of it, and I'm sorry..." I blink several times as I tried not to look at her. No, she's lying. She's lying. I thought, and repeatedly recite it in my mind and take a step. I hardly do it when she talks again.
"I'm sorry, Red. I abandoned you... I--"
"Shut up!" I shouted as I face her. She's kneeling on the ground, crying.
"Shut up..." I hardly uttered those words. I blink my eyes and couldn't help but be annoyed when my tears escape.
"Now that you made me remember something that I shouldn't, I nearly forgot that I still have to do something," I said and compose myself. I look at her. She's still silently crying. I look away and turn my back.
"Is revenge that important to you?" I stop walking when I heard her ask me. I clenched my hands as I grits my teeth. Tilting my head sideways, I glanced at her and said...
"No matter what reason I have, you don't understand"
