Kwan POV
Cheers filled the air, we were all gathered on the assembly floor to congratulate our school representative. They were absent in school yesterday for the interstate competition.
“The team leader should step out, please,” The principal instructed, smiling really hard.
Everyone applauded him as he stepped out majestically, with the gold medal and cup in his hands. “A round of applause for him again” The principal said and everyone gladly applauded him once again, including me.
“Do you have to clap too?” Audrey huffed beside me, with her hands crossed on her chest.
I smiled. “You don't have to be like this, Audrey,” I told her. She furrowed her brows. “Be like what?”
“You and I both know I don't like him one bit,” She rolled her eyes. I hummed simply before turning to the principal.
“I'm so proud of you, Seo yun” The principal beamed.
He collected the medal from him and dropped it on his neck, smile not leaving his face.
“You should keep the good work” He shook hands with grinning Seo yun.
“I'm proud of all the team members too”
“You boys are spectacular” He complimented, and the guys cheered happily.
“Kwan” I heard my name behind me, I turned to see Seo yun standing a few inches away. Huh?
“What do you want?” Audrey asked, clearly directing the question to him.
“Uh mm… I just want to have a word with her,” He replied with a sympathetic look. A word with me? “Are you mistaken now?” She glowered as she took a step forward.
“No, Audrey,” I interrupted.
She shot him one more glare and held my hand to walk away. I stopped walking and held my hand in her hold. “Let me just listen to him once,” I plea with my eyes. Her eyes dimmed.
“You're not listening to any of his talks, Kwan,” She glared at me.
“Now let's go,” She ordered. “I'll be right back, Audrey,” I told her and quickly ran to where Seo yun was standing.
“Kwan!” She yelled at my back, but I didn't glance back. I'm sorry, Audrey, but I should at least hear what he has to say to me.
He smiled nervously, immediately I approached him. “Hi Kwan” He greeted with a wide smile, but I only nodded.
“Uhm mm… Kwan, I know I've wronged you a lot,” He began, switching his gaze to the floor.
I batted my eyelids. Have I heard wrong?
“I just want you to forgive me”
He looked at me and his face held a remorseful one. Oh, my… I took my hands to my back and pinched myself. It was not a dream!
“Kwan” I heard him called.
I let out a small cough and stood properly.
"So, what do you want me to do now?” I asked, feigning a harsh voice, but failed woefully.
You can do this, Kwan.
“I want you to forgive me, Kwan” He shot me one of his best smile. "Okay," I replied simply.
“Is that all?” He shook his head sideways, looking so cute ever. Oh, lord.
“What else do you want? I forgive you already”
“There's one more thing I need from you” He rubbed his palms, and I resist the great urge to smile at the moment.
What has come over him?
Or was he overwhelmed with happiness?
“I want us to be friends, Kwan,” I arched my brows. “I'm serious, I really want us to be friends,” He said seriously.
I took my lips inside my mouth and turned around to walk away.
If this was really a dream, then I didn't wish to wake up ever again.
“Kwan” His voice stopped me.
I gulped before tilting my head back.
He winked at me and I felt my feet went feeble immediately as I stared him.
Audrey POV
“He said he wants us to be friends,” She squealed. “And what was your response?” I asked her, immediately.
“Well, I haven't given a direct answer yet, but since he has seemed for forgiveness, there's no big deal if we become friends, right?”
I stopped walking and turned to her.
“So you mean you're going to become his friend, isn't it?” I asked curiously.
She twisted her lips and shrugged.
“Audrey, he already apologized for his wrongdoings” “And you believed him?” I chipped in, my arms entwined on my chest.
“He was serious, you need to see how sorry he looked,” She emphasized, pushing her hair back.
I rolled my eyes. “You're so naive, Kwan”
“You see, I won't ask you not to make friends with him” I paused, staring at her. “But I hope you won't regret your decision eventually”
I marched off immediately without looking back.
I'm really pissed at her now. Why can't she understand?
I got outside the school premises, and moved forward- I didn't want her to meet me outside.
The school had almost become empty before we came out, we were really engrossed in a discussion before she converted it.
I groaned inwardly. I just detest this guy more!
Okay,
back to reality.
Why isn't a cab coming yet?
Or should I just go back to the school gate?
I stumbled my foot annoyingly.
No!
I believe a cab would approach soon.
After a short while, a car drove past me, slowly.
I wanted to avoid looking at the person inside the car at first,, but I did, and my heart beat skip at his sight. Why does my heart normally do this each time our gaze locked? I thought as we both stared at each other till his car finally drove away.
Shortly, a cab screeched to a halt before me, after Duffer's car had gone. “Are you going?” The cab driver asked. I quickly nodded and pulled the car door.
“3, jogno-gu street” I told him my home address while I settled down. “Sure ma'am” He said.
I breathe out heavily and leaned back on the seat, looking out from the window.
Why is he just going home too?
Was he busy?
'Cut it, Audrey'
'Its none of your business' my subconscious mind scolded, I nodded in agreement.
“Huh?”
I sat up, averting my eyes around the environment. “This is not the direction to my house,” I snapped at the cab driver.
He didn't say a word. “Are you deaf?” I roared.
I leaned forward and removed his cap.
“This is not the direction to my house!” I yelled.
He looked at me from the front mirror, but I'd thought my eyes was starting to deceive me until he glanced back at me.
