"Cadmus?"
"Yes?"
We were both in the car. Since yesterday, we have not returned home from the mansion. After we got home from the cemetery we went straight to a park near it.
"I'm just asking, it's okay if you don't answer because I understand it's a bit uncomfortable. I just want to know..."
"What's that?" He turned to me. The car stopped just in time because there was traffic again.
"How many years did you and Amber have a relationship?" I have a curious question. Sorry, I held my mouth but my mind was really full of questions.
"Almost two years..." He answered. "We'll last longer than that if we'll have a real relationship." He answered simply before turning to start the car.
My jaw dropped when he said that. I'm still even moved by what he said yesterday and now, this?! If so, he really likes me!
My cheeks heat up just thinking about it. I just put my gaze on the window so that he wouldn't see my reddened face.
Earlier in the park, Cadmus bought me a balloon, cotton candy and some other things that children buy. He made my inner child happy with what he did. He has done so much for me. I will study hard to become a CEO like him.
I leaned on him when I felt sleepy but I immediately removed it when I remembered that he was actually driving but he put it back there.
We are now going to the company building. He said, I can be there. The only thing he was worried about was that I might be bored there but I said no.
When we got inside, people immediately stood up to greet me and Cadmus. Cadmus greeted back but did not speak. He just bowed and signaled to them. I just smiled and waved to those who greeted me as we walked.
We met Rachel at the elevator. She seems to be in a hurry. Her eyes widened when she saw me and she seemed even more nervous.
"Good morning, Mr. Arcajante, Ms. Erin!" She greets us.
She seemed to want to talk to Cadmus but couldn't get the time because I was there. What I did was I moved away a little so they could talk but they chose to keep quiet.
When we entered that floor, my eyes widened and saw the woman in front of me now. She looked at Cadmus and I as her eyes widened in shock.
"Amber..." I whispered her name.
What is she doing here?
She raised an eyebrow at me. "Erin? You also work here. Wow, you found a job that fast? I never expected that." She gave me a fake smile.
I smiled sarcastically at her. Even though I'm annoyed with her, I have no intention of wasting time with this bitch. I will not waste my energy on that girl's brain.
"What are you doing here, Amber?" Cadmus asked sternly. "I already told you I'm no longer interested in whatever you will say. How many times do I have to tell you that I don't want to see your face anymore?"
Amber suddenly approached Cadmus. "Oh Cadmus... I know you miss me too. We can go back together again."
"There, you said it. You didn't come here for business purposes but you came here so we can be together again." Cadmus played with his tongue under the cheek. "Get out now, Amber. Or I'll drag you out." His voice thundered.
"Erin's here too! I know her! She knows we look good together." She looked at me. "Erin, Cadmus and I look good together right?"
I frowned at her question. Why is she asking me? Does she really intend to annoy me until I explode?
"Amber please---" Cadmus was cut off when I spoke.
"No. You guys don't look good together." I gave hee a playful smile. She wants trouble? I will give it to her.
She was silent at what I said. She lost her smile at me for a moment but it was immediately replaced by a grin. "What? Are you delusional about him? I just fired you at that restaurant you used to work."
"What do you want from him, Amber? Money?" I asked her. "If all you want is money, come to me. I can slap you with my millions." I rolled my eyes.
Rachel and Amber's jaw dropped when they heard it. Cadmus just looked at me, slightly smiling at what I said.
What I will 'earn' from this is that I will give her a part. So that I can slap her for all the bad things she does to me. Kill her with kindness. From mistreating me at work; she called me ugly, tripped me up in front of a customer and got kicked out of work just because a jealous customer blamed me.
"Millions? Where did you get that?" She laughed. "Oh let me guess... You're now taking my place as money sucker?"
"Fuck, there! You admitted it!" I laughed back.
Even if I look crazy, I won't let her step on my pride alone. I will also trample her pride deeper. Yes, I'm going to waste time trampling on this girl's pride to return to her everything she does to others.
"I'm not like you who needs a man to get money. Because I still have shame left in myself so everything I receive comes from my hard work. It's not like you who comes from fraud." I said calmly with a smile.
Her eyes were red with anger. She was about to scold me but Cadmus immediately spoke.
"Rachel, please get her out of here."
"Immediately, sir." Rachel nodded and immediately pulled Amber.
"Hey! Don't touch me, you cheap bitch!" She shouted at Rachel.
"You are the cheap bitch, fucker!" Rachel held her and pulled Amber's arm hard to drag her out.
"Cadmus please help me!" She still had the urge to stretch but Cadmus just looked away. "You love me, right? I'm your first love! I was your girlfriend! Your first girlfriend, Cadmus... How could you hurt me? Do you know what it feels like?" It's like she's still crying.
"How could you hurt me? Do you know what it feels like?" Cadmus repeated. "I hope you have thought how hurting people feels like to them before you did it to me. It's all in the past now and I don't want to go back to you. I will never go back to you again, Amber. We will never get back together."
Amber's pitying face disappeared from him. You can really see that it was only acting to get Cadmus to use it again but it doesn't work now.
She looked at me. Her eyes were very angry as if the words Cadmus had spoken for her came from me. "I will go back here! I'll be watching you here until you lose your job!"
"Work? I don't work here." I thought I'd annoy her before she finally leave. Also, I didn't actually work for Cadmus's company.
"She's my girlfriend," Cadmus suddenly interjected.
Amber's eyes widened. "G-Girlfriend?! No way!" Shw looked at me to confirm the truth but I just shrugged my shoulders while grinning at her. "You fucking bitch! You're using Cadmus too! I knew it! That's why you said you'll give me millions because it's from him!"
"You're wrong, Amber. Those millions belong to her." That was the last thing Cadmus said before Rachel and the guards finally dragged Amber out.
Pathetic bitch. He thought maybe everyone was under his control. If he could speak, he would seem to be above all people. He is annoying.
Cadmus walked with me. "I hope I'll never see her face again." When I looked up at him, he was looking at the door that led Amber out before he looked back at me with a kiss. "Don't stress yourself because of that woman. She's not worth our time."
I smiled and nodded. "She's not worth our time."
Even before we entered the office, we saw Rachel hurrying upstairs. It includes Ms. Kimberly, Cadmus' secretary. I just saw her again after weeks because I'm always in the mansion.
"Kimberly," Cadmus called to her.
"Sir, someone wants to see you. He's downstairs right now." Rachel was the first to speak.
When he looked at Cadmus, he seemed to expect that. "Whose appointment is there today?"
"He doesn't have any appointments for today sir," Kimberly answered. "But I know he's been wanting to see you."
"If he has no appointments---"
"Cadmus Arcajante Jr., It's been a while..."
I turned my gaze towards the door. That familiar voice seemed to want to run away from me right now.
I haven't heard that voice in months but I don't want to hear it again. I forgot that he and Cadmus knew each other, just from the picture I saw at the mansion.
"Jarmin Daelijji," Cadmus and I mentioned his name at the same time as he spoke.
My ex boyfriend... And probably Cadmus' high school friend. He's here now, he's in front of me.
I thought we were done with Amber who is Cadmus' ex but now my ex Jarmin has taken over.
When he saw me, his smile widened. "So that's why you're not answering my calls. You're here."
"I don't want to see you," I clenched my fist.
"Well," he grinned. "You will be seeing me often now so you need to deal with it."
