Chapter 12

Xiaoliang turns around to see a familiar girl smiling brightly as she stares at him. Her long straight black hair is styled into two pigtails. She's wearing a white crop top, complete with a peach cardigan along with some white pants, and yellow flat shoes.
"Yifei," Xiaoliang says at the girl standing in front of him.
"Thanks for waiting. Let's go inside!" Yifei says.
Without any warning, she drags Xiaoliang inside the bubble tea shop. The two starts to choose their drinks from the menu of various bubble tea. Xiaoliang decides to go with original bubble milk tea, while Yifei decides to go with banana bubble milk tea. Though Xiaoliang had insisted to pay for their drinks, Yifei stated that she's gonna pay for their drinks, in which she did.
"I hope I didn't make you wait too long. The chaffeur took my dad to his office first, before driving me here," Yifei states as the two approach an empty table inside the bubble tea shop.
"No worries," Xiaoliang says in a chill tone.
The two pulls out the empty chairs to take a seat. Luckily, the bubble tea shop isn't too crowded today, which makes it easier for the two to have a long and convenient conversation.
"So, how have you been lately?" Yifei ask the young boy who is sipping on his bubble tea.
"Good. And you?" Xiaoliang ask.
"Everything's great, as usual. But since my previous chaffeur just resigned, I've been using my dad's chaffeur. I thought that I need to find a new chaffeur," Yifei states, before taking a sip of her bubble tea.
"I see," Xiaoliang says.
"That's why, I wanted to talk to you about it," Yifei says. She slowly turns her gaze to Xiaoliang, making him to stare at her with a puzzled look.
"Umm...ok, what about it?" Xiaoliang ask. He sounded completely clueless.
"I wanted to ask you if you would be interested in it," Yifei says, making him feel surprised at her sudden statement. She puts her right hand on her cheek as she stares at the boy with a confident gaze.
"So? What do you say?" Yifei ask, not moving her gaze from his vision.
Xiaoliang takes a sip of his bubble tea, before putting together an answer for her question. As much as he appreciated her job offer, he already has a job at the restaurant. Besides, knowing that they are friends and attends the same college, he didn't want to make their relationship feel awkward when he gets hired by her.
"Thank you very much for offer. I really appreciate it, but I already have a job," Xiaoliang says to the long hair girl.
"That's why, I figured you would need a better job," Yifei says with a chill tone, before taking a sip of her bubble tea.
"Of course, it will be a lot more simple and better than your job at the restaurant. Besides, you will only be driving me around. Both of my parents already have their own personal chauffeur. You wouldn't have to go home too late at night," Yifei explains.
Xiaoliang thought again for a moment. He hesitates to accept the interesting offer. Though he realized that he needed a better job, he didn't want to mix their friendship with work since he fears that it will make their relationship awkward.
"So? What do you say?" Yifei ask.
"I really appreciate the offer, but I already have a job," Xiaoliang says.
Hearing this, Yifei felt disappointed, since the only person she wants to be her chauffeur is Xiaoliang. Yet, she thought for a moment. If he can't do the job, maybe there's another way of getting closer to him in a way. She needed a new idea.
Yifei takes a sip of her bubble tea. A small smile soon forms on her red lips.
"Alright. No problem," Yifei says with a smile.
Xiaoliang smiles, "Thank you for the offer."
The next day...
8 AM...
At Huang University...
Mingyu is walking through the crowded hallway as she heads to her locker. As she continues to walk, she noticed that a lot of people are glancing at her, throwing dirty looks just like what happened on Friday.
Weird. What's up with these people? Mingyu thought.
She's starting to sense that something is definetly not right. However, she chose to ignore this fact since she didn't want to bother to overthink about what could cause those people to look at her in a dirty way.
Mingyu eventually arrives her locker. She sees Junhao in a blue t-shirt and black jeans waiting next to her locker. To her surprise, the young boy looked a bit different today. Usually he would have his signature cheerful smile on his face, but today he just looked dull. There is no smile on his face, which made Mingyu wonder. She walks over to Junhao to call him.
"Hey! Good morning," Mingyu says as she looks at Junhao from the side, making him turn around to face her.
"Morning," Junhao replies. His voice remains the same, always filled with concern, but Mingyu notice that his eyes are speaking differently.
"So what are you doing standing here all alone?" Mingyu ask him as she opens her locker to get her book.
"I wanted to talk to you about what happened at the noodle shop on Friday," Junhao states, his eyes filled with concern.
Mingyu closes her locker and turns her head face Junhao. She could feel herself feeling anxious deep down at the traumatic incident that happened on Friday, yet she knew it wasn't Junhao's fault, since he didn't expected it coming.
"I'm sorry about what happened there," Junhao says in an apologetic tone.
"It's ok, I understand," Mingyu says in a low tone.
Junhao sighs, "It's not ok, and you got into trouble because of me."
"It wasn't a big deal, Junhao. I understand," Mingyu says, not wanting Junhao to feel guilty of something he didn't expect.
"Still, you got into trouble because of me. You didn't deserve that," Junhao says.
"Please, Junhao. There's no need to feel sorry. I should be the one to feel sorry for serving unsatisfying meals on your date," Mingyu says.
"Honestly, it was good. Meiling just probably didn't like it," Junhao says. "I should have taken her to another restaurant, if I knew that would happened."
"Well, it's all in the past. Don't stress about it," Mingyu says.
"Still, your momma got furious because of me," Junhao says.
"She's always furious," Mingyu states.
As Junhao continues to comfort Mingyu about what happened on Friday, a girl with shoulder lenght brown hair wearing a white top and black skinny jeans walks over to the two, confronting them with a stern look.
"Junhao! There you are," Meiling says as she approaches the boy, staring at him.
"Class is about to start," Meiling adds, before turning her gaze to Mingyu, making her feel nervous.
"Yeah, I'll be there soon," Junhao says to Meiling, before turning his gaze back to Mingyu.
Without any more words, Meiling turns her head to Junhao takes a hold of his arm, before turning her gaze back at Mingyu with a scheming smile.
"Let's go," Meiling says. She turns away from Mingyu while dragging Junhao along with her.
"I haven't finish talking with her, Meiling," Junhao says as his girlfriend drags him through the hallway.
"So? Is she really taking all your time?" Meiling ask in an annoyed tone.
Junhao rolls his eyes upon hearing his girlfriend's words.
"It's not like that. I was just apologizing to her about what happened on Friday," Junhao explains.
"It wasn't even your fault and your apologizing for something you didn't do?" Meiling says, slowly stopping with her steps. She turns around to face her boyfriend while crossing her arms.
"She served me bad food and here you are apologizing to her for her lousy service towards me?" Meiling ask with an irritated tone.
Junhao takes a deep breath. He really isn't in the mood to deal with her drama when he's already feeling guilty towards Mingyu after what happened on Friday. However, he has no other choice than to face his girlfriend, right now.
"She got in trouble with her momma, Baby. With her condition being fragile, it's hard for her," Junhao explains.
"And you think that she's the only one who's fragile? Do you think I was never broken, Junhao?" Meiling says, slightly raising her voice.
"Meiling,"
"Am I even more important than her, Junhao?" Meiling ask, both fury and sadness starting to fill her voice.
Junhao looks at his girlfriend with a complicated feeling. Just when he was feeling guilty towards his best friend for getting her into trouble, now he is feeling guilty of making his girlfriend feel like she's not important.
Without thinking twice, Junhao pulls Meiling into a warm hug. He starts to caress her hair as he feels her tears staining his shirt.
"You are important, Baby. You know that I care for you," Junhao says as he continues to caress the crying girl in his arms.
"Then prove it, Junhao! Prove to me that there's no one else," Meiling says while crying.
"There's no one else. You know that I only like you. Even the whole college knows," Junhao says.
"How am I suppose to believe that when you keep getting near Mingyu?" Meiling ask.
Junhao sighs. "I told you, she's just a friend. I only care about her because of her condition. Did you know that she almost end her life back in school? Other than that, I don't have any feelings for her, Meiling."
Meiling pulls away and stares into her boyfriend's eyes with mixed feelings. She couldn't deny the jealousy she's feeling every time she sees Junhao with Mingyu. Though he had tried to convience her that Mingyu is just a friend, Meiling didn't want to believe his words since she thought he seems to care too much for the anxious girl.
"Ok, I believe you," Meiling says. Though she didn't believe him, she didn't want to make the drama longer by saying that she still doesn't believe him. She has other things in mind, and for now, and she's not gonna let Junhao get involve with her little plan.
"Let's just go to class," Meiling adds, in which Junhao agrees.
A few hours later...
At the cafeteria...
Mingyu's POV...
I walk inside the cafeteria with my lunch box in hand. As I start walking, I see a group of girls gossiping. I walk pass them, and overheard as if they were talking about me. What the hell? How is it possible that I suddenly became the talk of the college?
"She's a sneaky dirty woman if you ask me."
I overheard a girl said that to her friend when I walk pass them. What the hell is going on?
I finally found an empty table. I pull out the chair and take a seat, ready to have a peaceful lunch. Until now, I still haven't seen any signs of Xiaoliang. Maybe he went to the library. I think I'll go check up on him after this.
"Hey, Wang Ming Yu, right?"
I turn my head to see a girl with long black hair standing in front of me. She has her arms crossed while looking at me with a sharp look. I saw this girl a few times walking with Liqiang lately. I assumed she's probably his new girlfriend.
"Yeah, that's me. And you?"
"Of course, you don't know me but I surely know you. You damn little witch," she scoffs, making me confuse.
"I don't understand what you're talking about," I say, feeling clueless at why she suddenly approached me just to behave weird all of a sudden. I don't even know her.
"Jing Jing's the name. I'm Liqiang's girlfriend, just so you know," she says.
As I expected, she's Liqiang's new girlfriend, but I wonder why did she need to come all the way to my table just to tell me this.
"Ok," I say in a flat tone. I thought about leaving this cafeteria and just have lunch at the library. I never like lunch time drama. With that thought, I grab my lunch box and gets up from my seat.
"Excuse me," I say to her, trying to sound polite.
To my surprise, the girl suddenly pushes me to the ground, making me fall and drop my lunch box. The whole cafeteria suddenly stops with whatever they were doing and have their attention to us. In fast speed, she grabs my lunch box on the floor, opens the lid, and pours the noodles to my hair.
"What the hell was that?" I slightly scream, but deep down I could feel myself about to burst out into tears.
"That's what you get for trying to steal someone's boyfriend," Jing Jing says. She grabs a random glass of water from a table and splashes it into my face.
"What the hell? I don't have any relationship with Liqiang!" I say to her. Damn, and I don't even know where Liqiang is. Usually that jerk would hangout at the cafeteria early. As I try to get up from the ground, but she pushes me again.
"Too bad that he dumped you after the first night. I bet he was disappointed as hell. The whole college already knows that you're nothing but a girl who sleeps with men and gets dump by them on the first night!" Jing Jing shouts at my face.
The whole cafeteria starts laughting at me. I start to tear up on the ground, feeling weak at this point that I didn't feel like I have the energy to defend myself. I didn't do anything. I didn't sleep with Liqiang, but I don't know who came up with those false rumors. Times like this made me wish Junhao was here, but it's weird that I haven't seen him in the cafeteria today. Yet, I know I can't always rely on him to come and save me from my troubles, especially since he has a girlfriend now, and I don't want to get in the way of their relationship. I have to learn to save myself. Slowly, I wipe my tears, with the whole cafeteria still laughting at me. Some random girls even insulted me and threw food at me. I get up from the ground and runs out of the cafeteria, tears starting to fill my eyes again.
I ran out of the cafeteria in a mess. My hair and outfit is all messed up with the amount of food and drinks being thrown to me. As I continue to run through the hallway to find the toilet, a familiar guy suddenly saw me as he was walking through the hallway.
"Mingyu?"
To be continue...
