Chapter 27
Third-person's Point of View Elyana was still shocked at what she heard from the doctor Quintin referred her to. Thanks to him, she didn't have to wait too long in the clinic. His cousin’s wife asked her to come in right after she told the nurse at the front desk she wanted an appointment exactly after she entered. The first patient who had a session after lunch that day happened to come late, and the doctor took that chance to talk to Elyana while waiting for him. It only took thirty minutes of one-on-one conversation. Doctor Lilian gave her findings immediately, and Elyana was right—something was wrong with her. The doctor told her it was common for people who have experienced cheating to witness it face-to-face. She said it was something to do with chronic anxiety and depression, including frequent thoughts of something that triggered the two, which are related to having PTSD or post-traumatic stress disorder. Lilian explained what it was, and while she listened, she kept nodding and saying yes to her because all the signs were things she had been feeling and doing. She admitted she suddenly understood herself after talking to Lilian, and the doctor gave her more sessions to help her with what she was going through. She was so thankful. When she left, she couldn’t forget the doctor’s answer when she asked her what was more likely to happen to those women like her whose husbands cheated on them. She gave her a few clues: some lost their minds because they could not accept what their husbands did to them; some chose to end their lives; others seemed to be fine, but emotionally and mentally, they were not; and the last one—some stopped trusting love and had stayed single—single moms. Elyana stayed inside the car for a few minutes. She composed herself first before driving home and did not notice the person who had been tailing her vehicle from the restaurant to the clinic. When Elyana’s car entered the automatic gate, the black car behind barely maneuvered to avoid being noticed. He deliberately went past the gate just before it closed, and when he was at a distance where the CCTVs could not reach him, he stopped at the side of the street to make a call. "Any update?" the person he called asked right away. "Yes, sir, she had lunch with a guy. The same guy she went out with a few times already," the man answered. "Generoso?" the person asked to confirm if the same guy was on his mind then. "Yes, sir, Quintin Generoso," the man inside the black car answered. He gritted his teeth right after hearing who, closing his fist and aching to confront Quintin, but he thought it would only waste his time and plans. "What else?" he asked instead, as if he couldn't wait for other news. "She went to a clinic and stayed there for almost half an hour." "C-Clinic? What kind of clinic?" His curiosity awakened a nervousness in his chest. "Psychological Wellness Clinic, sir." "And where is she now?" "She just arrived home." "Okay, good. Go to that clinic and find out more about why she went there. Call me if you find anything," the man ordered. “Copy, boss,” the man inside the car responded, and he drove back to the clinic. It was the best time because the person he was asked to follow was already home. Felicity had just arrived back into his office after meeting his third client that day. That was how hectic his schedule was every day. He wasn’t expecting to see Quintin and Elyana at the same restaurant his client chose. Seeing them together instantly gave him the idea that something was brewing between them. ‘Well, if that's the case, it will be a favor on my side. Quintin is not a bad match, and I don't have to take care of Elyana anymore if the two already have a relationship,’ he thought. Still, something came up in his mind while thinking about them, and he suddenly became hesitant with Quintin because he knew all about his background. ‘Oh, no! He must be carrying a disease,’ he uttered in his mind, thinking Quintin used to be a playboy and had slept with countless women. “No—-no way! It can’t be,” he uttered, distracted by the sudden knocking on the door. The door opened, and his secretary said somebody was looking for him outside. “Who? A client?” he asked with a frown. "Mr. Generoso.” Hearing that surname made Felicity grin. “Speak the devil's name, and the devil will appear,” he murmured. He still had a client to meet, but he thought they probably wouldn't complain if he came a few minutes late. "Let him in," he ordered, and the secretary immediately told Quintin to come in. Quintin entered and immediately saw the expression on Felicity’s face. His eyebrow raised and was almost at its peak. He was leaning into his swivel chair with his arms crossed over his chest. He seemed about to give someone a hard time with the way he looked at him, and a few more steps before he finally reached his desk, Felicity stood up from sitting on his swivel chair and walked to the side of the desk. “Sit!” he ordered. He looked so severe. ‘What’s with you today? Did I do something?” Quintin couldn’t help asking. “Just sit!” Felicity repeated, and because Quintin needed something essential to know from him, he obeyed like a friendly kid. “What’s with you and my best friend? Are you dating her? Do you both have a relationship?” Questions were raining down on Quintin the moment he sat on the chair. Quintin didn’t expect those, and it made him burst into laughter. “Where did you even get those ideas? Seeing us in the restaurant is not what you think it is, okay?” he uttered after laughing. “Elyana and I are just friends. We sometimes see each other to have lunch, and today only happened after she had been gone for almost a week. She calls me when she needs help, and I just help her with all my might, just like today. It's just friendship, and there's no other freaking way we will fall in love with each other," he added after composing himself entirely. "Are you sure?" Felicity asked, emphasizing every word so he could give an honest answer. "Yes, that's sure, a hundred percent," he replied, and he even managed to smile with confidence. "And what kind of friendship do you both have? Friends with benefits?” With these questions, Quintin realized there was an actual interrogation happening. Even though he was telling the truth, laughing while answering would only give Felicity a different meaning, so he decided to take things seriously at that moment. He took a deep breath and stared into Felicity’s eyes. "As I told you, when she needs me, I come to help her, but not to benefit her in bed. We never came to that point, and I promise not in a single time I have slept with her,” he answered. Quintin thought it worked. The frown on Felicity’s face vanished. It seemed he had finally convinced him. "If that's so, what brings you here?" Felicity asked while looking away. "About that," he paused. "I'm here to ask you who the woman you were in the restaurant was a while ago." Felicity looked back at him, skeptical about why he asked about the client he had met at the same restaurant. He couldn’t believe Quintin's taste differed from what he thought it was. "W-Why are you interested in my client earlier?” Felicity demanded. "Your client? Do you mean she's also looking for a match?" he inquired, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "Apparently, yes, and just like you, she's asking for a match as soon as possible." "Wow! I can't believe it!" he exclaimed, which piqued Felicity's interest in what the man in front of him was thinking. "You didn't tell me you like old women, Quintin. If you had told me earlier, I would have matched you a lot—" "H-Huh? N-No! No way! What are you saying?" Felicity suddenly saw disgust in the way he reacted. "It looks like we misunderstand each other here. Who do you think my client is?" "T-the young lady?" His answer had doubts. He thought it was the woman whom it seemed he knew. "Her stepmother asked for my assistance, not her!"
