Chapter 16

“What’s he talking about?” Collin asked, “what’s he talking about, Azriel? Were you supposed to kill Mia?”
“Not now, Collin,” he warned then he looked back at Lucifer who was poking his index finger on the end of the pole that was through Mia’s stomach, then he started explaining to Collin that he has no idea what’s that about. “Are you guys done with all that whispering? Besides, I wasn’t talking to you, Azriel,” he commented as he flick off dirt from his fingers and face them, “I was actually talking to Merikh. It was part of the deal. Kill the Nephilim, and then get your grace back.”
Both Collin and Azriel looked at Merikh who was just standing there, straight-faced. He wasn’t guilty, he was pissed. He wants to rip Lucifer’s smiling face off. “You know, brother,” he said as he take his staff behind him, “you are a real pain in my ass. For years, you always have.”
Merikh puts his hand on top of his staff, pulled a long sword like blade, then he threw it on Lucifer’s direction creating a distraction. He stepped one foot to the side, swiftly caught the blade with his left hand, and proceeded to walk towards Merikh, leaving Mia unprotected. It also gave Collin and Azriel a chance to trap Lucifer in the middle with the three of them surrounding him. Once Azriel is in place, he took his own blade out from his pocket. It was silver and it looked like a small pen, but when he shook it once, it turned into a sword.
Lucifer saw the blade Azriel’s holding, then smirked, “that’s not going to kill me brother, and you know it.”
“I know. This is just a distraction,” he said as a matter of fact, then Collin lunges at Lucifer. He was able to get Collin off of him, throwing him at the other side of the fence.
Merikh yelled and started running towards Lucifer. He fought his brother with his staff, but Lucifer was able to block every hit with his bare hands. His staff spins, then hits Lucifer on his shin causing him to fall down. He backed up and Azriel swings his sword at Lucifer, but he was able to roll over to avoid it. He was getting furious, his eyes have turned red. He found a wrought iron, grabbed it and blocked Merikh’s staff just in time as he tried to strike his brother one more time. He was about to get beaten when his eyes glowed bright red, he pushes his brother back so strongly that Merikh slid a few feet away from them. Azriel saw his brother hit his back on a rock, he slowly turned to Lucifer who was slowly getting up. He then opened his wings. Thunder rumbling, slowly, his wings were lifting from behind him. As he yell, his wings flapped forward, creating a strong gush of wind blinding Lucifer. He took that opportunity to attack, he flew and landed in front of his brother, striking him on the face with the end of his sword. Lucifer almost fell to the ground, but he was able to keep his balance, “that all you got, brother?” he said as he stood up straighter. Then he punched Azriel on his cheek, he fell to the ground. He continued to punch his brother, he stood up and kicked him on the stomach. Azriel groaned and coughed.
Collin snarled and lunges towards Lucifer, but he was too strong for a vampire to finish. He pushes Collin away, he stands up and dusts himself off. “Give it up already,” he insisted, “you can’t beat me! I can get rid of you with just a snap!”
“A snap? Who are you? Thanos?” Collin sarcastically said, groaning, as he stood up. Azriel tried standing up with the help of his sword, and Merikh just got up checking his head for any sign of injury. “I do not know who that is, and I don’t really care but I can literally kill all of you right now,” he said backing up to where Mia was pinned. It’s like the beginning all over again. The three of them in front of Lucifer, while Mia’s up there behind him. He points at Mia, “I mean, she’s already dead. Guess our Nephilim is more human than angel,” he laughed.
Without saying anything, Azriel looked at Merikh and Collin then back at Mia. The three of them were surprised to see Mia move. After she moved her fingers, her head slowly tilted up. She slowly opened her eyes, revealing a golden glow to it.
***
I am starting to regain some feelings on my hands. Yes! I’m able to move it! I thought. Then I tried straightening up my head, okay, slowly, slowly, I thought, yes! I did it!
I can hear Lucifer blabbing about how strong he is that the boys can’t beat him. He’s such a noisy man. I opened my eyes, and I can see the shock on the faces of Merikh, Azriel, and Collin. Lucifer’s still laughing at how he just “killed” me. He wanted to gloat and mock my pinned body but as he turned around to face me, my hand met his head, “you talk a lot,” I said. Then a strong light came out of my hand, the three boys covered their eyes. I can hear Lucifer yelling in pain. When the light was gone, Lucifer’s body dropped to the ground. I have no idea if he’s dead or just weak. I looked at them, who were slowly uncovering their eyes. “You three look like shit,” I commented, “can any of you help me down? I mean, I am literally a barbeque here.”
The four of us laughed then Azriel groaned at how painful his stomach is, “fuck this. I think he broke my ribs.” Merikh puts an arm around his brother to help him walk. Collin helped me down, I was groaning in pain as he slowly removing me from the pole. Then we heard a flap of strong wings, “Gabriel,” we heard Azriel said. Collin wrapped his jacket around my waist to stop the bleeding on my belly. We saw two men standing in front of Azriel and Merikh, “is that her?” he asked. Azriel nodded.
He walked towards me and Collin, then he removes the jacket, “what are y –“ he cuts Collin off by putting his hand on my wound. A warm light emanated to my belly and the wound disappeared, “thank you,” I whispered. He smiled at me then he gave me a hug, “you look just like your mother.”
I closed my eyes and hugged him back. He lets go of me, “Ezekiel and I will take care of this.”
“What’s gonna happen to him? Is he dead?” I asked.
“No, he’s not yet dead but he’s too weak to even move his hands. If you’re wondering what’s going to happen to him, we’ll take him back to his cage in Hell. Lock him up and add more security. Lilith’s been caught too. She, uh, let’s just say she met a tragic ending.”
I nodded and thanked Gabriel again.
Merikh and Collin, left me with Azriel by the truck while they gather all our stuff inside. When they were done, Merikh and I helped Azriel get inside the backseat. I sat on the passenger’s seat and let Collin drive. I am too exhausted to drive, we might end up in a ditch somewhere. As Merikh enters the truck, Collin starts the engine and we drove off. It was kind of quiet at first then Merikh looks at Azriel, “you’re an idiot.”
“What?” he looked at his brother, confused, “why am I an idiot?”
“Gabriel was already there! You could’ve asked to get healed too! He healed Mia.”
“I think you forgot one thing, Mer. I’m an angel, too! I heal the same way all angels heal.”
“Which is?”
“Self-healing!”
They were bickering at the back then I glanced at Collin, he looked at me too and we just laughed quietly as the two brothers argue like a married couple. The bickering exhausted the two at the back and they both ended up asleep. “I thought angels don’t sleep?” Collin asked softly.
“Yeah, but Azriel told me before that they can if they wanted to. Just like you, as a vampire you sleep.”
“Touché.”
“Where we going anyway?”
“Uhm, I called someone to look for a place for us. Some place hidden. That’s where we’re going.”
“Do they have food?” I asked as my stomach makes a loud growl. Collin laughed before nodding to confirm that there is, in fact, some food at the new destination.
