Chapter 21

Collin went back inside the house in search of his father. All he feels right now is rage. He hated his father ever since the day he turned him into a vampire. He hated his father more when he turned his mom, brother, and sister into vampires, then left them for dead. Now, he’s no longer just angry, he’s resentful of his father’s existence especially now that the person closest to him was abused.
He walked around the house, fighting off all of his father’s security. Some of them are vampires too, beheading them with Mia’s machete, still on his person. but the others, are humans who chose to side with evil. He got to the second floor of the house, he sent a guard flying through the second-floor window and down to the pavement on the ground. He didn’t feel any remorse at the moment. The only thing he can think of is getting revenge for Mia.
He went to a room at the end of the hall. He tried opening the door, but it was locked, so, he kicked it open. There he found his father in his bedroom, packing up a suitcase. “Collin, son,” he said, “why don’t you come with me, huh? Let’s go somewhere else! Let’s start fresh,” he continued getting some clothes from his dresser.
“No,” Collin replied, eyes started glowing intensely. His dad looked back at him with his eyes glowing as well, both their fangs are out. He tackled his dad to the floor, punching him in the face as hard as he could. His dad puts his hands around Collin’s neck to get him off of him, but he punched the man on his stomach. It made him let go of Collin. He stood up to catch his breath and kicked his father on his stomach. He turned around, leaning his hand on the wall, his father quietly stood up. He took the chair from the side of the dresser, lifting it up, “I’m sorry, son,” he said as he smash the furniture on Collin’s back. He fell unconscious on the ground and Mr. Roth ran out with his suitcase.

Merikh has fought off a few guards that tried to pass through the secret tunnel. Azriel, too, has fought and at the same time healed me. When I was able to stand up and walk, we went back inside the house using the tunnel. We got inside but Collin was nowhere to be found. I suggested that the three of us split up to cover more ground but they both disagreed with me. “Mia, we have nothing against you wanting to kill his dad but right now, we just want you away from harm,” Merikh expressed his concern.
“She’ll come with me then,” Azriel suggested, “I mean, I got a powerful touch and you, well, you got your staff.”
“Really? You’re really going to belittle my staff right now?”
“No, I’m just saying –“
“Yeah, yeah. Mia’s better off with you and your wings. Go on then! I’ll go this way.”
Azriel and I ran to the second floor. There was a broken window, letting in the cool breeze. I ran to the other side of the hall, while Azriel went to the other. We opened every door, but he wasn’t anywhere. Moments later, Azriel yelled my name. I ran to the end of the hall where Azriel was standing and saw there was an open door. Right there in the middle of the room, Collin was laying unconscious. We both ran to him and turned him on his back. Azriel puts two fingers on his forehead, and he caught his breath. He immediately sat up, a little bewildered, then he looked at me. “Mia? You’re okay?” his brows furrowed, I nodded and smiled. “Azriel healed me from head to toe. So I can, you know, turn your dad into a vampire barbeque,” I joked. He smiled.
We told him Merikh is downstairs, probably fighting by himself, he’s gonna need some backup. The three of us were about to exit the room when Collin grabbed my arm, I looked at him then at his hand – it’s my machete. “I borrowed it for a while,” he said as he handed it over to me. I took it from him and smiled, saying “thank you”.
When we got downstairs, the house was almost already empty. One guy was running towards us, but Azriel seriously lifts his hand and snaps his fingers. What happened to the guy right before my very eyes? While running, his neck snapped. Literally, he dropped dead. But then we heard some people running outside, heading towards the stairs leading to the balcony, we all went out to see where they’re going. We also saw Merikh stabbing a few of them with the end of his staff. He looked up, saw us, and took the staff out of that guy’s head before running towards us.
We all looked up when we heard someone say, “let’s get Mr. Roth out of here!” Collin and I ran up the stairs, Azriel flew up, and Merikh teleported up there, which we didn’t know he could actually do. This demon likes keeping secrets. When we got there, those two were already fighting some of them off. Collin found his dad about to get on the helicopter, he also looked in Collin’s direction. When he saw me, his eyes were wide. Alarmed that the girl he left to die in his basement is up there, with his son no less, all bright and shiny. I looked at who Collin was staring at, and there he was, staring right back at us.
Collin was about to walk over there when I stopped him. He looked down at me, “he’s mine,” I said as I walk past him. Swinging my machete left and right, killing whoever got in my way. His dad’s shouting at the pilot to start the chopper. When I saw the rotor blade start spinning, I asked Azriel to keep anything and anyone out of my way until I get to Collin’s dad. I ran as fast as I could. I can hear the three of them fighting the guards and yelling for me at the same time. The helicopter was about to lift off when I jumped on the landing skids, I glanced behind me and I saw Merikh, Azriel, and Collin standing there looking up. I took a deep breath and swung my legs to the side so I can sit on the skids and be able to get inside the chopper to kill Mr. Roth.

Collin sees Mia sitting on the landing skid before he turns around to see different monsters starting to climb up the balcony. The three of them were standing near the edge of it when Collin looked down behind him to see them like rabid dogs, all hungry for blood. He faces forward to see what they’ll be up against. Merikh, who was on his left, spins his staff getting ready to fight. “This is gonna be fun,” he smugly smiled, “this is like the old times, right, Azriel?”
Azriel released his wings, sword at the ready, “yup. Just like the good old battle days.”
“You mean?”
“The Lucifer and Michael battle,” Azriel replied.
“You two were there?”
“Yup, and it was fucking amazing,” added Merikh.
Azriel flew to the middle of the balcony, “and I land the perfect superhero landing,” he proudly said and then stabbed a Kohonta to its heart with his silver sword. All the monsters that started attacking them usually come out at night but for some reason, they’re all out now, fighting for his dad. “I thought these things aren’t allowed in towns like this?” Collin grunted, fighting off a Crocotta. “They are, but I think your father did something to the enchantment to get them inside,” Azriel explained, kicking off a Lamia and stabbing it.
The trio continuously fights monsters while Mia is up in the helicopter with Collin’s dad. Azriel felt like the three of them will not see the end of it because the monsters of the apocalypse had taken a liking to that part of the town. Eating away the guards’ corpses and also fighting off Merikh, Collin, and Azriel.
