Chapter 61: The Perfect Ending
The grand venue was breathtaking—a fusion of elegance and warmth, decorated with cascading white flowers, golden lanterns, and soft, glowing lights that cast a dreamy aura over the entire place. The soft hum of violin music filled the air as guests stood in silence, awaiting the bride's arrival. All eyes turned toward the entrance as Angel Foster emerged, walking slowly down the aisle on the arm of her father, Philip Foster.
She looked radiant, a vision in white lace and satin, her veil catching the sunlight as she moved. Philip walked proudly, though his eyes shimmered with tears. After everything they'd been through—the pain, the separation, the fear—this moment felt like the perfect beginning.
At the altar stood Hunter Mondiego, wearing a crisp black tuxedo, looking sharper than ever. His eyes never left Angel. Beside him stood Kian, his brother and best man, wearing a proud smile that reflected the quiet triumph of family restored.
As Angel reached the altar, her father gave her hand to Hunter. Philip looked at his daughter and then at Hunter, his voice soft. "Take care of her. And thank you—for bringing her back."
Hunter nodded, emotion tightening his throat. "With everything I have."
The ceremony began, the officiant's voice echoing through the venue as he spoke of love, resilience, and destiny. Then came the moment for the vows.
Angel took a deep breath, holding Hunter's hands. Her voice wavered at first, but then grew strong and sure:
"Hunter, from the day you held my hand in that hospital corridor, I knew I found someone who would never let me go. Even when I disappeared, even when I doubted myself, you searched, you waited, and you fought for me. I promise to love you in every season, to stand by you in light and in darkness, and to raise our child with the strength and love you have shown me. You are not just my home—you are my miracle."
Tears shimmered in Hunter’s eyes as he cleared his throat and replied:
"Angel, you saved me when the world turned its back. You believed in me even when I had nothing—not a name, not a future, not even hope. Every step of my journey has led me back to you. I vow to protect you, to honor you, and to cherish every moment with you. You and our child are my purpose, my legacy, and my forever."
A collective sigh and sniffles spread through the audience. The officiant smiled warmly. "By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."
Hunter didn't hesitate. He leaned forward, gently lifting Angel's veil, and kissed her like it was the first time. Applause erupted, tears flowed, and joy filled the air.
But this beautiful wedding was the culmination of a moment long overdue.
It had been a week after Angel’s recovery when Hunter planned a surprise date. He told her nothing—just asked her to trust him. She agreed, curious and excited. When they arrived at the venue, it was empty but already beautifully decorated.
"This is the place I prepared for you... before you disappeared," he told her quietly.
Angel turned to look at him, tears filling her eyes. "You kept this all this time?"
Hunter nodded. "Because I knew you'd come back. And I wanted to ask you something important here, in the same place where I planned to do it before."
He reached into his pocket, knelt on one knee, and presented her with a stunning diamond ring. "Angel Foster, will you marry me and make me the happiest man alive?"
Angel dropped to her knees too, laughing and crying all at once. "Yes! Yes, Hunter, I will!"
And so, the preparations began—though this time, with more joy and hope than ever before.
Back at the present, the reception had begun. Laughter echoed, music played, and guests danced under strings of fairy lights. Kian raised his glass for a toast.
"To my brother and the woman who brought light back into his life. May your love continue to heal, inspire, and endure. Cheers to Hunter and Angel."
Everyone cheered.
Hunter and Angel danced slowly to their first song, their bodies close, their eyes never parting.
"We made it," Angel whispered.
Hunter smiled. "This time, no more disappearing. You're stuck with me forever."
She giggled softly. "Good. Because there's nowhere else I'd rather be."
And in that perfect moment, the past no longer mattered. All that did was the love they carried into the future, together.
---
More than a year later, the once eventful days of chaos and uncertainty had given way to peace and joy. In a cozy home nestled in a quiet neighborhood of Southbay, the sound of laughter echoed against the walls—a baby’s giggle, innocent and bright, followed by soft coos and squeals. The living room was a picture of warmth, with soft pastel toys scattered across the carpet and photo frames of smiling faces proudly displayed on the shelves.
Angel sat cross-legged on the floor, her long hair tied in a messy bun, playing with their bubbly baby boy whose chubby cheeks were flushed with joy. The little one clapped his hands as his mother pretended to hide behind a pillow only to peek again, earning another round of laughter from him.
Just then, the door creaked open.
“I’m home,” came Hunter’s deep, familiar voice from the entrance. He looked tired, his tie already loose and his sleeves rolled up after a long shift at the Mondiego Empire office in Southbay, but his eyes instantly lit up at the sight of his family.
The baby squealed with delight, trying to crawl toward the door. Angel smiled and stood, holding their son in her arms. “Daddy’s home!” she said brightly.
Hunter walked toward them, setting down his briefcase and scooping both into a warm embrace. He kissed Angel’s forehead and then pressed his cheek to their son’s head. “There’s no better feeling than coming home to you two.”
Their home may not have been as grand as the Mondiego mansion, but it was their haven—filled with giggles, late-night feedings, soft lullabies, and the steady rhythm of a love that had survived everything.
As Hunter held his family close, Angel leaned into him, her heart full.
This was the life they had fought for—one of second chances, of healing, of building a future out of a past that once tried to tear them apart. They were no longer just Hunter and Angel. They were a family. And every day, as laughter filled their home, they were reminded that love always wins.
