Chapter 42: The Search Continues

A week had passed since Angel disappeared, and Hunter was no closer to finding her. Every lead had turned cold, every possible location had been a dead end. He had spent days searching—driving from one familiar place to another, questioning people who might have seen her, checking every hotel, hospital, and even train stations. But there was nothing. It was as if she had vanished without a trace.
The frustration gnawed at him. Angel couldn’t have just disappeared, not without leaving some kind of clue. She had always been meticulous about the things she did. If she had planned to leave, there would have been signs—something he could follow. But there was nothing, and that worried him more than anything.
Unable to sit still any longer, Hunter called Kian, his fingers tightening around the phone as he waited for his brother to answer.
“Hunter,” Kian’s voice was calm but concerned. “Any news?”
“Nothing,” Hunter admitted, running a hand through his hair. “It’s like she vanished into thin air. No paper trail, no digital footprint, nothing. I need your help.”
“You know I’ll do whatever I can.”
“I had my private security looking into this before I left for the seminar,” Hunter said. “I just got word they found something. I need you to go over the details with me.”
“I’m on my way.”
An hour later, they sat in Hunter’s study, the dim light casting shadows on the papers scattered across his desk. The lead investigator, a man named Collins, sat across from them, his expression serious as he placed a file in front of Hunter.
“We managed to retrieve data from a burner phone Angel left in her apartment,” Collins began. “It was wiped clean, but we recovered a few deleted messages. One of them stood out—it was an invitation to meet at a café, far from the city.”
Hunter’s fingers clenched around the paper. “Who sent it?”
“We don’t know,” Collins admitted. “But we did some digging. That café was entirely booked for that particular meeting. No walk-ins, no other customers—just a private reservation.”
Hunter’s eyes darkened. “Whoever sent that message wasn’t an ordinary man.”
Kian exhaled sharply. “This means someone lured her out.”
“Exactly,” Collins said. “The café owner refused to disclose details, but we suspect the person who arranged the meeting had influence.”
Hunter leaned back, his mind racing. “And what happened after that?”
Collins hesitated. “That’s where things get complicated. We followed the surveillance logs up until the day you arrived home. As per your instructions, our surveillance ended that day. She was last seen leaving her apartment after the confrontation with her family.”
Hunter’s jaw tightened. “So there’s no record of her leaving the city.”
“No,” Collins confirmed. “As far as our data goes, she never left.”
Kian leaned forward, his tone sharp. “That means she could still be here.”
Hunter nodded, his grip tightening on the paper. Angel was out there somewhere. And now, he had a lead.
“This isn’t over,” he said, determination burning in his eyes. “I’m going to find her.”
"Should I continue looking for the anonymous sender sir?"
"Yes  because I'm pretty sure that the meet up is to inform Angel about my past so that she will feel guilty"
"Okay i will keep in touch with you in a few days sir" Hunter noded in agreement
---------
Few days later
With Angel missing Hunter ask Kian to find a replacement as the director of the hospital which Kian agreed since he knows how busy Hunter is and Kian also plan on Introducing Hunter as the Owner of the Hotel they recently opened in Southbay City if the moment he will propose to Angel... Kian thought Hunter is ready to be introduced as Hunter Mondiego but he decided to postpone it first because of angel being missing.
While they were talking about it in Hunter’s study room the investigator arrived and handed over a small piece of paper
"I pressured the cafe owner and manage to get the details of the person who booked the cafe that day"
Hunter read the details written... Kian watches as Hunter’s fist tighten the moment he read the piece of paper..
"Kian I think it's time for me to reveal my true identity. This will be the best way to get revenge to these people trying to destroy me and angel"
Kian just noded.
"Keep on digging about him and his family" Private Investigator then noded and left..
