Part 14

They were behind the building and Wisdom spotted a slightly opened door at the extreme part of the building. "Let's go in through there. They must be inside and I need to save my Dad", he said. He led the way and they crept into the building.
Inside the building, the Commissioner, the chargé d'affaires, the Manager and their bodyguards were in a large room. Mr Okechukwu was tied up on a seat.
The chargé d'affaires bodyguards opened the attache cases and showed the cocaine to the Commissioner for him to see. He was very delighted with what he saw. "I knew you won't disappoint me", he applauded the chargé d'affaires. The chargé d'affaires bowed his head in response.
The Commissioner turned to the Manager and asked for his own. The Manager pointed at the other end of a room and everyone saw a very big bag. The Commissioner gestured for his bodyguards to get the bag for him.
"You're going to see the best weed ever", the Manager assured him.
The guards opened the bag in front of him. They were packs of weed. He picked a pack, opened it a little and smelt it. He inhaled in deeply with enthusiasm. "I love it, it's wonderful", he remarked.
"So where's the money?", asked the chargé d'affaires after looking around and finding nothing.
"Don't worry. I always keep to my word", the Commissioner grinned. He signalled to his guards to go get the money.
The guards of the chargé d'affaires stood by Mr Okechukwu. "This thing they are doing...is it not illegal?", he asked them in a timid voice. They looked at him for a while and then turned away, giving him no response.

The Commissioner's guards were heading back to the meeting point with briefcases, containing the money. One was holding two briefcases, the other was holding only one. They were about leaving a room when they heard people chattering. They hid by the wall close to the exit, waiting for them to come close. One of them peeped out his head from the room and saw them climbing up the staircase and quickly hid.
Careen and Wisdom were still chattering about unimportant things. "You were a scaredey cat", Wisdom teased Careen, sticking out his tongue.
"At least mine's better. You're opposite of your name", Careen insulted back.
"At least I'm not a...", Wisdom spoke loudly.
"Shhh!", Careen hushed him, "Your voice is high, they could near us", she said.
The guard in front gestured for the other one to use the exit and he crept towards the exit. The first one waited for both of them to get really close to him as he hid behind the wall.
"...and besides, if they were even close, I'm ready for those fools. No one jokes with my father", he said dramatically, striking a heroic pose.
Immediately the guard sensed they were close to him, he quickly came out, aiming his gun at Careen's forehead. Wisdom brought out his immediately and pointed at the guard, threatening the guard would lose his life if he did not drop his gun.
Out of the blue, he felt a gun being aimed at his head from behind. It was the other guard. "Drop your gun down or get killed", he threatened Wisdom. Wisdom hesitated to do so which made the guard shout it again. Wisdom slowly dropped his gun on the floor.
The first guard stood behind Careen and ordered her to go forward. The other guard did same to Wisdom and as Wisdom walked past his gun, the guard picked it up immediately. They made Careen and Wisdom to go wherever they wanted them to.
"Oh no! They've been held captive", Sarah gasped, "Call the Chief Constable right now", she said to Nicholas. He picked up his phone and dialed Careen's Dad's line. He picked it up almost immediately.
"Sir! Wisdom and Careen have been held captive", he reported.
"What?!", he reacted, sitting up straight, "We're going to be there very soon. I'll arrest all those criminals", he said. He told the driver to speed up. He was on the passenger's seat in front. "If any updates come up, please let me know", he instructed.
"Okay Sir", Nicholas responded and hanged up the call. "He said they're on the way, they'll soon get to the hotel", he said to Sarah. They watched as Careen and Wisdom were taken into the room where everyone else was.
Moments later, the police vehicle ran out of petrol and stopped suddenly. The Chief Constable gaped at the driver, wondering why the car had stopped.
"What happened to this vehicle?", he asked feeling frustrated.
The driver checked the fuel gauge and swallowed dryly in fear. "We ran out of fuel Sir", he stuttered.
"Constable!", he called the driver who responded, "Was it not you that was sent to buy fuel?", he asked in a loud voice.
"Yes Sir", he shivered in fear.
"Then why are we out of petrol?", he demanded for an explanation. The Constable turned behind and looked at his fellow Constables. The Chief Constable turned behind in surprise and saw everyone wearing guilty faces. He moaned with anger and got down from the car. "You all should better get down except the driver", he ordered with a frown. They got down from the car.
"What are we going to do Sir?", one of them asked him. He glared at the Constable for a long time. The Constable held his lips tightly to avoid word leakage.
The Chief Constable called the police and told them to come over. "Come and assist this fool", he turned to the driver, "at Azikiwe Street. He ran out of petrol", he adjured. He hanged up the phone. "Someone should stop a taxi", he ordered. One of them hurriedly waved at a taxi that was approaching them and gestured for it to pull over with plead.

At the meantime, Careen and Wisdom were also tied to chairs and kept close to Wisdom's Dad.
"Dad! What are you doing here?", asked Wisdom.
"I should be the one asking you that", he replied.
"We suspected these men were drug traffickers so we both disguised ourselves", he gestured, "as mere workers so we could spy on them more easily", Wisdom narrated.
"Thought you were part of them?", asked Careen.
"Yes! That's why I'm right there drinking wine with them as you can see", he replied with sarcasm, looking at her dryly. "I saw the drugs in the hotel accidentally so they took me captive because they felt I'd expose them", he explained to them.
"So guys! Where's my Dad? Does he know I'm being held captive?", she whispered over the earpiece.
"Yes! He's on his way. He'll be there soon", replied Nicholas.
"So this was why you left the house? I never knew", Mr Okechukwu said to Wisdom.
"You never wanted to know", Wisdom replied with a faint smile.
"Well...you're right", his Dad nodded his head in agreement.
The Commissioner made a sound to get their attention. He made them see the gun he was holding, as a sign of threat. "Now tell me if that saying of the good always ruling the bad is true or false", he said to them.
"So this idiot knows he's bad", Mr Okechukwu said to his son and Careen, referring to the Commissioner.
"Just answer my question", the Commissioner glared at him.
"You never asked a question, you only said we should tell you if something is true or not. Some of our leaders don't even understand English these days", Mr Okechukwu mocked the Commissioner.
"I think you shouldn't say another word, that man is angry", Wisdom warned his Dad.
"The good will always rule the bad son. Don't be scared", he replied.
The Commissioner overlooked the insult and giggled. He asked the chargé d'affaires;"This man is a Professor right?" The chargé d'affaires nodded his head in response. "That's why he looks stupid", the Commissioner insulted back.
"At least teachers are being respected more than you politicians", Mr Okechukwu replied with a lot of gusto.
"Now answer...do the good always rule over the bad?", he wore an evil smile.
"Yes! They always do", Wisdom's Dad replied fearlessly.
The Commissioner kept his finger on the trigger as a threat. "Are you really sure? There's always a second chance...I believe", he smirked at them. He made some steps closer to them.
Wisdom's sixth sense told him there was danger. He replied quickly before his Dad could say anything about that would put their lives in danger. "The good can never ever rule over the bad. They can never ever rule over the bad", he replied with gusto but in a dramatic fashion.
The Commissioner wore a surprise look. "Hmm...that was sarcastic but I'm okay with it", he said. He left them to join his partners in crime in their drinking.
"Relax please! My Dad is coming over soon. I'm sure of that so don't say anything stupid", Careen whispered to them. Mr Okechukwu stared at her with surprise for what she said.

Can I ask a question? Do you need to be professional to write a good story? Because I want to be a writer, but I didn't finish my studies.
