Title: A visit to Sara and Saeed.
Very early, the next day. As early as 5:25am, we quickly left the hotel to Sherjah. It was one of the neighboring cities aside Dubai. And it was the resident of the khan, the surnames of Sara and Saeed. Rowan kept on taking several calls from work and the last call was from my mother. I had stubbornly refused to talk to her when he asked Rowan to give me the phone. Could you believe my mom never called me after the wedding?, I was her only child for Christ's sake. It was as if she sold me out to this man. "Rowan" I call out biting my lower lip. He turned his head to the window. "Are you angry with me?" I simply asked. I turned his face to look at me, he narrowed his gaze. "Don't look at me that way" I snapped. "How could you be this disrespectful?."
"I wasn't being disrespectful"
"You were" He said sharply and frowned, "Your mother meant well"
"She never called after the wedding. Isn't that awful?" He relaxed back at his seat. "You never know how busy she was"
"Well. What could be important than her only child?." Note the sarcasm.
"You're married, Aubrey"
"You know what, i don't want to press further on this issue." I turned to the window. "You're being too sentiment about this."
"I don't care" I stated firmly. "And selfish?"
I know Rowan, he wasn't going to step back about this argument until he lures me into an emotionally blackmail. "Selfish?" I asked back but he never returned an answer. "You're so unbelievable. You're selfish, you!!. I'm your wife."
"Being my wife doesn't make me agree to all your childish nagging"
"What?. Childish, nagging. Fuck! I'm done talking to you."
That was when i realized Rowan was back to himself. He never really cared to apologize after that. The man i married was back and our relationship was back to episode one.
At exactly 6:32, our car stopped in front of a sign post written boldly ' WELCOME TO AL HAMRIYAH TOWN'.
As we alighted from our car, and sighted a black SUV car approaching our direction. We waited till the car stopped right in front of us and Saeed climbed down. A big smile plastered on his lips. "Aubrey." He calls cheerfully and ran to hug me. Though i talked at length with Sara yesterday, i still felt awful for not visiting their suite before they left the next day.
Those couples were really the best unlike my stubborn husband. "Salam Mr. Khan." I greeted playfully and that only earned a chortle from my husband. I rolls my eyes at him and took a friendly hug with Saeed. "How're you?" He asked and i smiled. "I'm fine. What about our pregnant wife?" I jokingly asked.
"She's fine. Come on, she can't wait to see you. Hop on the car." He smiled at Rowan as we all climbed at the back seat with our luggages.
The drive to his house was not boring with him talking about how happy they were to welcome their first child.
We arrived in no time to see a very big mansion. Mehn, i did not know Saeed was this rich. A smiling Sara zoned out of the house in a white flowing gown with her hand on her tummy which had no bump yet. "Aubrey " She calls excitedly coming closer to us. She hugged me and kissed the cheeks of Rowan. Rowan looked rather pleased to see her. "How's she?"
"Who's she?" She asked confused. Even i was confused. "How's the baby?" He corrected. "Ohh. We don't know the sex of the baby yet. But i want it to be a him though"
Her husband came further and grabbed her waist closer to him, he planted a quick kiss on her lips. "I want it to be a she. But I strongly agree with my wife. If she wants a he, who am i to refuse such blessing?"
Awwwwnnn. How cute of him to say that?, not my stubborn husband who takes side with my mother rather than his wife. I rolled my eyes at him when he looked at me. "Now, let's proceed into our house. You'll love what i made for us as breakfast"
Later after breakfast, the men had gone to talk privately leaving i and Sara. We were chilling at the balcony with red wine and chips. "I'm so happy to finally have a baby"
"I'm happy for you darling. How did you meet this lucky husband of yours?"
"I'm the one lucky to have him, Aubrey. You won't believe all Saeed had ever done for me "
Saeed is a lovely soul, anyone could see that, he's every woman's dream.
"You are both lucky to have each other, sweetheart. How did you meet?"
"I was an orphan adopted by my religious parents. They never really cared about me, they were too busy for me. Then, Saeed came for my hand in marriage. They agreed immediately because he was rich and his dad was a family friend. They never cared if i liked the man. They forced me into marriage threatening to drop me back at the orphanage. I was nineteen as of then. But we finally got married, i never wanted him to touch me. I shivered fearfully mere looking at him. I thought he would hurt me. But what changed our life completely started at our honey moon. He stood by me and never touched me, he made it very enjoyable for me."
"That's quite a great story. He's really a man for you."
"Yes, because i would never share him" She said and we laughed. Their honeymoon was the beginning of their love life, but could it change mine too?. Was Rowan really serious when he said he loved me?. Saeed stood by her all the time, saeed wanted the marriage but Rowan and i never wanted the marriage. We were forced by our parents.
"What are you thinking of?, love"
"I'm fine. Just thinking of my husband."
"What happened?, did he cheat?, Rowan doesn't seem to me like a cheat" I chuckled.
"Rowan did not cheat. We were forced into marriage as well" She gasped. "Oh. Baby, I know how it hurts. I had been there before, you don't like him?"
"I do. But..we never liked each other. "
"But, he was lovely. No one would know it was an arranged marriage"
"Definitely. It's because of the honey moon. You don't know of a jerk he is. Rowan is a complete jerk" She chuckled. "Not funny"
"Sorry. But he would come around"
"I doubt that. Rowan married me for his mother. He promised to dump me at her house once i give birth"
"Oh my God!!. What?" I was the one laughing now.
"You wouldn't know though"
"Did he have an awful past?" I nodded.
"He was left at his first wedding. It was really a bad one"
"That caused it then. He will come around, i see that hidden affection whenever he looks at you. He doesn't know he loves you yet"
"He has professed his love already but i doubt that, he was quite serious about it"
"It takes time, dear. Do you love him too?"
"I've never felt affection for men but i still consider my affections for likeness for him. I don't know though"
"You love him, just need to admit it. " I smiled. "Maybe that. I don't know"
I gulped down my wine as silence fell between us.
We heard approaching footsteps and Saeed and Rowan popped into the balcony. "Come on, Riry. Or we miss our flight"
I checked my wrist watch and it was 9:30. I really loved to stay behind, but these two made my vacation very memorable. I smiled and got up and Sara did too. We were led outside, the car ready to take us to Dubai.
"I'll keep in touch, beautiful" A tear rolls down her cheeks. "You're the only friend i have. We'll surely visit Chicago, okay?"
I hugged her and kissed her cheek. Then, Rowan opened the door and i climbed in . He turned and hugged Sara. "I wish you safe with the baby" He told them with a smile. "Thanks man. For coming around"
"It's my pleasure. Aubrey, bye"
I waved sadly as the driver drove off. "You're crying?"
Rowan inquired. I cleaned my tears immediately. "I love them." I replied and faced the other side as more tears came rolling non stop.
