Chapter 48

Sicily, Italy
Consider all the conversations done in Italian as they were in Italy.
Myra woke up from her deep sleep only to find herself in a big spacious room filled with luxuries. The soft mattress beneath her back and the unique smell in the room made her froze at her place. She found herself in a different place. All the past incidents started coming back one after another in front of her eyes. Arthur's voice, her struggle, his men, bruised Arjun and above all shattered Ranvjiay. She abruptly stood up from the bed and walked towards the washroom. Splashing water on her face and neck she looked at her reflection. Her hand froze immediately when it touched her neck. The pendant wasn't there around her neck which was given by Ranvijay.
"Damn. Did Arthur take it away?" She scoffed mentally. Even her bracelet given by Arjun was also missing. She massaged her temple with his hand only to think rationally before taking any drastic step. Being in a Mafia family is not new to her anymore but being a part of her own Mafia family is definitely something new. She looked carefully again at her reflection. The girl standing in the reflection looked far more different from the one back in India. Now she has a pale face instead of a glowing one. How long was I out? She was screaming in her head only to find void answers as a reply. Brushing her teeth she came out of the washroom and started scrutinizing everything around her.
Changing her clothes from the closet which was filled with numerous pieces of clothing, she looked around the room. The colour of the wall looked similar to her house. If it's Luca's house then surely her mom was Luca's sister. Their taste seems the same to her. It was early in the morning. She looked through the big window of her room. She found herself on the 3rd floor. The big lawn down under looked really nice and well maintained with a garden nearby. There were two or three guards around. Some servants were taking care of the lawn and other stuff. Twisting the knob she opened the door and walked towards the long corridor. She expected the door to be locked. She wasn't caged but she needed her answers for such a sudden stance pulled by Arthur. Instead of sitting idle and crying over her situation she felt to deal with it. She came downstairs to find a big hall where different people dressed in black were sitting. Some men with guns were standing near a couch. The man's back was visible to her only. The moment she walked in front to have a better view of the man she froze at her place. Only one word left her mouth,
"Luca Lombardi?"
CEO of Lombardi enterprise. He was the person on whom she bumped when her mom was in hospital. He was the man who gave her a card in case of emergency. And she always had a doubt that he had paid the bills of the hospital. As soon as the words left her mouth all the men looked at her. Luca raised her eyes to look at her with a warm smile on his face.
"Good morning Myra." He spoke in Italian. Immediately all the guards looked back at her and gave a big smile by bowing their heads.
"Good morning don." They all greeted her with that name only.
"Don?" She asked back.
"Your mother never liked to be called Donna as she was equivalent rather than a don. I believe you are just like your mother." Luca cleared the point. Dismissing his guards he called her to sit beside him.
"I know you have a lot of questions. But you need to know a lot about yourself and your actual life."
"If I say, I don't believe your words? Can you prove that my mom was an Italian Mafia?" Myra snapped back.
"Ask every single person in Italy and you will get the answer." Luca smiled at her.
"If you are Luca Lombardi then how could you be Luca Moretti?" Myra wanted her doubts to be cleared.
"Lombardi is our maiden name. My mother was a simple young lady when my dad fell in love with her. He was the most feared Italian don. When he married my mom he decided to create an empire with her name. Lombardi enterprise is our legal business area which was named after my mom's maiden name. You can meet both of them. They are old and live in Milan now."
Myra's jaw dropped on the floor hearing that story. The mafia tag was always in her blood since her birth. She thought that her mom might have made some mistake by taking up mafia stuff. But hearing the story she understood that it's their age-old business. They were carrying the blood and such things through their DNA.
Luca took her hand and started walking inside the house more. As she was walking her feet stopped in the middle way. There was a big portrait of four people. Two men and two women. It was kind of a family photograph. She found her mother and uncle Luca sitting in front of a man and a woman. The man and the woman had similarities with Luca and her mother. Luca followed her gaze and explained,
"That's your grandparents. This photo was taken when your mother and I claimed our thrones from our father in this Mafia world."
"Great." The only thing she could speak. She hated Ranvijay for being an underworld don and here she stood being a don's daughter and granddaughter.
There was another picture of her mother with Luca holding guns. She looked at the picture carefully. Her mother was really a breath-taking beauty. No wonder people could die for her without knowing who she actually is. As she was walking around with Luca, Arthur came hurriedly in front of them to inform Luca. It was about a rival gang that was creating an issue for them. But seeing Myra around he stopped in his tracks and gave a big smile while greeting them. Myra was angry enough with Arthur the moment she saw him that her anger flashed up again. She immediately walked forward a gave a good punch on his stomach by saying,
"Come ti permetti di drogarmi"
(How dare you to drug me?")
"What? Did you drug her? You told me that she fainted." Luca growled at his son with a clear Italian tone.
"Sorry, she wasn't listening to me and that bastard Ranvijay was creating a nuisance." Arthur replied showing a face full of pain as Myra punched him real hard after getting him off guard.
"He is my husband. Stop calling him that."
Hearing Myra's words Luca looked back at her with astonishment and asked,
"What? Have you got married there?"
"Yes. Is that an issue?"
"You made the same mistake as your mother. You are just the carbon copy of Minerva." Luca spoke with disappointment in his voice.
"What mistake?"
Luca narrated the entire story to Myra about how Rana Pratap got involved with her mother when he visited Italy to seek help from Italian Mafia to get his things done in India. How he had left her mother after knowing her identity and how her mother found out the truth of Rana Pratap's previous marriage. Hearing the entire story, Myra froze at her place. She couldn't believe that she did help that man to survive who left her mother knowing her actual identity.
"But uncle Luca, Rana Pratap was also not a clean person. Then what was the problem with my mother being a mafia or not?"
"Have you seen any of the women of their family like your mother? They might be some underworld don but their wives were all normal women. He was already married and he wanted to use her power to take down Sekhawats." Luca cleared his point.
Myra thought in her mind. It is true. Mayabati, Nandini, Ragini every one of them was a simple woman. Even Ranvijay got married to her, thinking of her as a submissive young woman. The day she killed a person he was shocked to his core. That means it was true that they never wanted their partners to be a dark person. But she is the one. After knowing all such things would he be able to accept her? Definitely not. He deserves a soothing wife like Ragini not her.
"I got married to save the Solanki family." Myra spoke timidly.
"I can see that. You tried to save a sinking ship by drowning yourself." Arthur spoke.
"Enough Arthur. You should apologise to her." Luca glared at his son.
"Sorry little sister. I shouldn't have given you the sedative, rather I should have killed that bastard."
"Arthur" Luca and Myra growled together.
"Sorry." The only word came out of his mouth.
Myra went back to her room and sat near the window. She married a man under certain circumstances but the result became too painful. Neither could she go back nor could she forget. Every single moment that she had spent with him was occupying her mind again and again. Every single movement she was making she was feeling like crying by remembering Ranvijay. Her chain of thoughts got broken when she heard a knock on the door. It was Arthur standing near the door.
"Let's have lunch. We will go to your old house after that. I have to show you something."
Myra was neither interested in having lunch nor did she want to go anywhere. But reluctantly she went downstairs to have some lunch. There she met Luca's wife for the first time. She was a blonde woman with a genuine smile. Her name was Melissa Moretti.
"I thought of paying you a visit but decided to let you settle first at this place. I am sorry for my son's behaviour. But dear he is too protective about his only sister. I have heard about your situation back in India. Remember my child, we women are the creator and destroyer by ourselves. It depends on us whether we want to create or destroy, whether it’s us or others." Melissa told her.
"Thank you." Myra replied. She had her breakfast in her room so she didn't get the chance to meet Melissa. After the morning session with her mother's past she was not willing to meet anyone else. After finishing the lunch Myra moved out with Arthur to reach his own house. It's been almost 7 months since she left the place. Lily was supposed to take care of it. Since she had returned she didn't inform Lily or Ronan about her arrival. She didn't feel like telling them about her real identity. Even she got enough shock when she found Ronan was not calling after getting back in Italy. During her stay in India he used to call her every day. Entering the house, Myra looked around and found her memories scattered with her mother. Suddenly Arthur called her,
"Come here, I have something to show you."
There was a cellar at the backyard. It was closed. Whenever Myra asked about that her mother told her that it was for avoiding tornadoes. They could easily save themselves by entering in it during natural calamity. But they never faced a tornado to go down in that cellar. Never in her life had she gone down under. Arthur lifted the lid and told her to go down after him. As they reached down there was a metal door with a combination of lock. Arthur cursed seeing the lock and dialled the number of his father. After asking him the combination of number he typed those number. And bingo, the door got opened with a cracking sound. There was a whole room built down under. The moment Myra stepped inside the room her eyes shot open and her brain stopped working.
The room was filled with different guns, knives, whips, knuckle dusters and other stuff. It looked like a small weapon shop. She had such dangerous stuff just beneath her house and she was unaware of it.
"Do you believe us now? Do you believe in your mom's identity?" Arthur spoke.
"How? All these? My mother.... “Myra stuttered badly.
"Aunt Minerva left the Mafia when she was pregnant in order to save you and protect you. She used to stay with us also when you were born till the age of three years. The day she visited India and got to know the reason behind being disowned, she came back drenched in anger only. She broke all the ties with us thinking that this Mafia blood took away her normal life. She chose to stay away being hidden with you here. But blood speaks. To secure you and her surroundings she kept her all favourite weapons down under. She told you that you don't have a family in order to keep you away from us. Remember during your high school I used to tell you not to speak about me to your mother? Because aunt saw me one day following you when you were going somewhere. I was always there to protect you. But she told me to stay away from you as my shadow could bring the same fate on you like her. When I told her about protecting you she told me that she would make you strong enough to protect yourself."
Arthur looked at Myra's crying face once he finished his part.
