Chapter 26 STRANGE ANEW

Chrysolite walked in with Sardius and the whole room suddenly became quiet when they walked in. Chrysolite's dad who was talking to Coral Marble turned around, when Chrysolite saw her dad she ran to embrace him. As they did so, Marcus tried to read the look on Sardius's face but he saw nothing.
"What's wrong Chrys?" Marcus had to ask his daughter, looking down at her face.
"I miss you dad." She smiled at him. He wasn't always at home, he only was if he was on vacation.
"How was school? We're you bullied?"
"No dad."
Sardius paid his greetings to them then later followed Chrysolite up her room. He stood by her bed watching her.
"I feel anew." She said looking at her reflection.
Sardius nodded watching her intently. "That's good to hear. Do you recall anything?" He asked.
She looked back at him in the mirror then at her legs. Something was odd about her feet.
"I only remember talking to Mary. That's all." Chrysolite said.
"Mary?" Sardius's brows rose in question.
"Yes, Mary."
"What did she say to you?" He asked her.
"...em....that, I don't remember." She scoofed, stood up from the stool before the mirror then pulled Sardius to sit beside her on her fluffy bed.
He felt his heart thudding softly, then it began to increase as she stared deep into his eyes. He was drowning in the very depths of her eyes. Was there something borthering her? He felt it, though he couldn't point out what was the exact reason.
"What's wrong goddess?" He asked.
"Goddess?" She laughed, " do I really look like a goddess?"
He grinned when he heard that, looking down at their composure. He knew that he wasn't going to like the outcome of it. He tried to move but she stopped him with a firm hand on his arm. He met her eyes again.....
"I heard a dream today Sardius." She said to him.
"A dream?"
"Hm, a lovely dream." She answered.
"And what was it about?" He asked.
He noticed that her Iris had began to spark in a reddish glow. His right hand then reached out to touch her face.
"A dream I couldn't recall yet I felt it had happened. I cannot explain this strangeness I feel." Her words pulled him in like a string.
"Why is that?" His breath was close to her, so close that their noses were touching slightly. Her eyes were visibly controlling him that he could barely think straight.
"Your eyes.... Chrysolite.." his lips brushed hers lightly as he desperately tried not to kiss her. He didn't mean for any of this to happen. His lips returned back to her mouth and his hands reached securely for her hands trying to wade her off as well. Instead, her hands wounded around his neck positioning him perfectly for a deep kiss. He fought with his clouded mind and emotions, suddenly yanking away from the strange entanglement. He stood inches away from her, his hand on the door knob already, heaving heavily as he stood by the door. He watched as her enmassed hair cascaded slowly down her shoulders, recalling how soft and tender she had melted in his arms. His heart thumped on violently, finding it hard to breathe, he had to open his mouth slightly to breathe.
"Sardius," she called as her eyes watched him.
For a second, he closed his eyes trying to switch off the wild thought of what would have happened had he persisted in that act. Then, he opened his eyes watching how she was looking back at him like a tamed pet. Her hands had covered her face and her hair rolled down around her face. She was stunning, the streaks in her hair made her seem like the very goddess that she was. He noticed that her eyes had returned to its original colour.
She pushed back her head to look at him.
"I'm sorry Sardius." She apologized, "I didn't know what came over me." She said to him.
Sardius stood, his back on to the door while his hand still rested on the door knob. He knew that her powers controlled her instead of the other way round. He gulped as he thought of going to her. She needed help, her powers were growing stronger each passing day. Slowly, he found himself walking to her.
"Why did you kiss me?" He squatted before her, watching as her sorry face riverted to a shocked expression.
She stood up quickly. "I don't know Sardius. But I did feel excited when you kissed me." She said to him.
He scoffed standing up, looking how puzzled she made him feel. "I kissed you? You kissed me! You did that thing with your eyes and kissed me." He said.
She shook her head in negation then her voice broke down. "I do not know Sardius. I don't know what's wrong with me."
Sardius was puzzled again.
"I tried to refrain myself but I found myself pushing for it. I tried to quench the flames but it seem way beyond me. I feel I'm too strong and at another phase, I feel helpless. What is this strange...p...power overpowering me?" She began to cry.
Sardius didn't know when he reached out to her to embrace her, he noticed without warning how the colours in her hair had began to disappear.
*********
Corral Marble was looking through the windows when Sardius walked in towards her. She looked at him in surprise, wondering why he hadn't left for his home already. Then, she noticed the expression on his face. Something was wrong.
"Are you alright Sardius? Is something borthering you?" She asked him.
"Ma Corral Marble, I need to talk to you about Chrysolite." He had no choice than to spill the milk. Either way, Chrysolite must be saved.
"Chrysolite? What about her?"
"She needs help Ma Corral Marble. I know who she is. And it's only a matter of time before she finds that out. Her powers are way beyond her."
Corral Marble froze watching Sardius speak. Goosebumps shot through her body as she stared upwards towards Chrysolite's room. As if by so doing, she would catch Chrysolite watching them talk about her. How was Sardius able to perceive that Chrysolite had supernatural powers? Who had told him about Chrysolite? If Sardius knew about Chrysolite's powers, he must also know about her necklace. There was no time for questions now. Chrysolite needed help.
"Is her necklace not on her? She must wear that at all times." Corral Marble said to him.
"She can't possibly wear that all the time. Besides, the necklace is weak to conceal her powers." Sardius explained to her.
"How did you know all this Sardius?" Corral Marble couldn't help but ask. She had underestimated Sardius who was merely a human. Sardius didn't know how to answer that, would he tell her the truth that he had eavesdropped on his mother and Chrysolite's mother talking about some ancestral powers.
Corral Marble looked around her, trying to think through stormy thoughts. "The only way out of this is for Chrysolite to know and accept herself. Not just her human self but her original self."
"If that would help, let her know right away."
"No, Sardius. You do not understand."
"But she's deeply hurting Ma Corral Marble. She doesn't even know what is wrong with her. I got to see this part of her."
"Is there someone else who know of this asides you?" She asked him to which Sardius nodded.
"If she fully accepts herself, she would be able to control herself. But if she cannot love herself, that's catastrophic."
Sardius's eyes bulged when he heard that.
"Don't give a worry Sardius. I'll have a talk with her mother. Chrysolite will be fine."
Again Sardius nodded. Then he slung his school bag over his shoulders, bade her a lovely night and walked straight to the door.
********
Onyx flared as soon as Corral Marble explained everything to her. "We can't tell her mother! Not now!"
"Onyx, it's dangerous to let another day go by. Your husband will definitely support my intentions."
"He will never unless you're to tell him about it."
"Onyx, stop being so paranoid. Why not give it a try? She might get to love herself, you just never know."
"And if that never happens?"
"One of us get to die."
Onyx paced, she was slowly losing her mind.
"I say she hear nothing of this. We'll figure something out." Onyx was pained by the realization that she might lose someone dear to her if nothing was done about this.
"This is for Chrysolite! What could be more important than this right now?"
"No mother. There should be some other way. I can't let Chrysolite get to know of this."
"Are you ashamed of telling her about where you originated from? What will you do if the repercussions of your current act follow?" Corral had to ask.
"We can deal with it, one way or another, mother. When that time comes."
"You will regret this, you definitely will. I hope you don't lose Chrysolite to this."
"No mother, you're wrong." Onyx said to her mother.
