The whole day passed and the sun was slowly drowning into the darkness when the butler opened up Micah’s study room door. He was sitting uncomfortably in the rocking chair, staring at the endless darkness that was taking over the bright sky.
He turned his head towards the butler to ask him what was wrong but before he could say anything, the butler spoke up.
“Miss. Renya is back,” He spoke plainly, his face a bit tense.
Micah sprang up from the chair and moved out quickly, but was stopped by the butler.
“Master, Miss. said she wants to be alone, she doesn’t want to see anybody,” Micah knitted his eyebrows with unease and parted his lips to speak.
“Why? Did she—was she angry?” He asked as a precaution.
“No, she didn’t look angry,” The butler replied.
Micah’s uneasiness washed away and he stepped towards Renya’s room.
“Master but she said-“
“I will handle it from here,” he whispered and walked upstairs.
He stood before her room and knocked lightly, but Eryna didn’t respond.
“Renya! I am here to talk about something, do you have a moment?” His voice was so soft and soothing that it felt like a lullaby.
“Go away!-“ The voice was filled with extreme pain, “I don’t want to see anyone!” It was unlike Eryna, she had never spoken in such a hurtful way.
“I know you are mad, but I am here to say sorry, can’t you hear me out?—only once?” He was trying hard to keep the conversation going.
“Go Away!! Leave me alone!” The words were harsh but it sounded like a plea, it sounded like she wanted somebody so bad but wasn’t ready to show the ugly face of her suffering to anyone,
Micah felt uncomfortable in his heart and he clicked the doorknob, but it was locked. When he got closer to the door he heard painful sobs. He wasn’t sure what had happened to her but something wasn’t right. Micah pushes the door a few times and the lock finally opened revealing a dark room...The ever so twinkling room was wrapped in darkness, the curtains that were always wide open were tightly shut, Micah switched on the lights and saw it.
Eryna lied on the cold marble curling into a ball, she had tightly clenched her abdomen. Her face was pale and sweat was forming on her forehead. Tears moved out of her eyes like waterfalls, Micah fell to his knees beside her. He was speechless.
“Go away!!” Eryna hid away her face.
“What is all this? Why are you like this?” His trembling fingers approached her tiny body with caution. He held her in his arms and stood up, her body was cold.
“I am taking you to the hospital—you will be fine,” he spoke with a wavering voice.
“Don’t!! Don’t take me there—“ Eryna looked up at him with fearful eyes.
“Stop being so stubborn for once!” Micah growled, it was not because he was angry, it was because he was worried dead. One could see the pain he was in when he saw her in that situation.
“Don’t! I want to go to sleep—“ she breathed in heavily, “I just want to sleep,” she rubbed her face against his shirt to rub off her tears.
“Sigh! Why are you doing this?” He looked at her with a broken expression.
“I am not— I was given this wretched life, now I have to drag it— till the end,” she whispered painfully and hid her face within his arms. She was trembling because of the pain. Micah walked to the bedding and laid her down, Eryna curled up again, Micah pulled the blanket, and held her against his chest, and covered her body while still holding onto her. He held her tightly as if she was going to slip away from his grasp if he loosened his grip. Eryna uncurled a bit and looked up at Micah’s face that was just an inch away from hers.
“Why are you doing this?” Her voice was hoarse, “ why are you still here? Why haven’t you left already?” Her eyes trembled as she spoke.
“What are you talking about?” Micah asked in a whisper.
“Don’t be nice to me.” Eryna lowered her head a bit and broke eye contact with Micah, “—or I might lose you too,” she spoke in an inaudible voice.
“Who else should I be nice to, if not my wife?” He grinned shamelessly, Eryna’s eyes flashed at him with surprise, she felt her heartbeat in a manner that she thought it had forgotten, looking at her shocked face Micah chuckled and drew nearer to her,
“What are you doing?” Eryna asked, while trying to pull away but was stopped by Micah’s hand.
“Kissing you Goodnight, it cures all the pain,” he pressed his lips against her forehead gently and moved back. Eryna’s heart was moving like a train, but Micah looked very pleased as he slowly closed his eyes and pulled her even closer to him.
“Get well soon, you look more beautiful when you are talking back to me,” Eryna could hear his rapid heartbeat. She didn’t move and didn’t realize when she had fallen asleep even with the immense pain.
