Micah woke up with a stinging pain in his head, the world around him still seemed like it was spinning, he felt great pain in his jaw, as if somebody had beaten him up. He slowly got off his bed and looked around the room, he was still wearing the suit he had on yesterday and it had a strong smell of alcohol on it. Micah knitted his eyebrows and pressed onto his temple trying to remember why he had gotten himself drunk to an extent that he didn’t know where he was or what he had done to deserve such pain in his jaw.
He slowly got up and walked over to the washroom. He opened the tap and splashed his face with some cold water to wake himself up, he looked into the mirror and saw himself staring back at him like usual, but there was something wrong with his face. His left cheek was slightly swollen and the skin of his lip had a small injury on it. It looked like he had but into it for some reason, but biting lips wasn’t his thing, never.
He was angry at whoever had tried to assault him while he was unconscious but then it occurred to him, the faded memory of last night moved in front of his eyes, he remembered Alecor’s warm breath striking his lips. His heart raced as he remembered his lips against something soft. And after that, he saw Eryna! She was furious and she punched him in the face.
“No! This can’t be!” Micah punched the washbasin hardly as he breathed out heavily. “I did not do that!! How can I?—to Alecor?” Micah’s heart sank as he remembered the angry gaze of Eryna.
“She saw it too! She must have misunderstood!!—“ Micah’s shoulder’s trembled.
But when he glanced at the mirror and saw the bruises on his cheek, he felt slightly happy as he thought Eryna had punched him out of jealousy. A part of him was very happy but he had to explain it to her. Micah, without wasting a single second, ran out of his room and up the stairs to Eryna’s room. He knocked on the door three times but had no response from the inside. The maid that was passing by saw him and stopped to tell him that Eryna had left early today.
“Where to?” He asked desperately.
“She didn’t say anything about that,” The maid replied.
Micah clenched his teeth a bit and then walked back to his room to change, he was in a hurry to reach the office, as he thought he would see Eryna there.
He reached the office and called in his assistant,
“Good Morning, Master,” her eyebrows trembled when she saw his injured face.
“That is for that, But I want you to bring in Miss. Renya Scott from the foreign affairs department,” he continued.
The secretary thought deeply for a few seconds and then finally walked out silently, after a long-awaited ten minutes she returned with the news.
“Miss. Renya is on a leave today,” she spoke.
Micah’s wavering heartfelt another blow and he asked.
“What was the reason?” He asked.
“They say she has some medical reason, she will be back for work in two days,” The secretary replied. Micah’s clasped hands became rigid and he stood up suddenly.
“Medical reason?” He asked.
“Yes sir, the leave had that written on clear words,” the secretary felt the air grow colder.
The door had a sudden knock and without waiting for permission Alecor walked in, she was wearing very revealing clothes that made Micah frown even more,
The secretary saw the growing awkwardness so she decided to flee.
Micah’s anxiety grew as he remembered yesterday’s night.
“Micah, what happened to your face?” She hurriedly walked closer to him and held his face with her warm hands, she stroked the place where Eryna had punched him and he suddenly finched and retreated.
“Micah! Don’t do this,” she made a sad expression.
“Don’t start this again…” he spoke with a hostile voice.
“Micah I know you still have feelings for me, I too love you the same way...let’s start again,” She spoke in a heartbroken voice.
“You are wrong! I have moved on with my life, and I have a wife,” He spoke with a sharp voice.
“Stop joking, I know your Grandpa forced you into it,” she added. “If this marriage meant something to you, you would have had the ring in your finger, “ she looked at his empty fingers.
“Oh! Your lip, it’s hurt,” she frowned and quickly pulled out a lip balm. To apply on his lips but he stepped back.
“You can stay here for as long as you want, I am leaving,” he walked out of the office and left the building in a hurry. He pulled out his phone and called Eryna.
He unlocked the car and started the engine while waiting for her to pick up the call. But she didn’t.
“Why isn’t she picking up?!” He spoke in an annoyed voice.
He called the butler and he picked up in the second ring.
“Yes, Master!” He spoke energetically.
“Is Renya home?”
“She is not,” he replied.
“Okay, call me once she is back,” he replied in an annoyed voice and needed the call.
“Where are you?” He placed he drove off with a wilted expression.
He had no other place to think of as he had not known Eryna for long and he had never spent time with her to know where she would go, so he drove back to the mansion. He didn’t go inside rather he walked towards the garden where the garden was tending the flowers.
“Master! What a surprise,” he stood up at the sight of Micah walking up to him.
Micah gave a nod and walked a bit farther, towards the open area which was guarded by a small wooden gate. It was a special place, he stepped inside and the gardener followed him. In the huge green garden two brightly blossomed trees stood beside each other, their bright pink flowers were in full bloom. He walked closer to the tree and brushed his hand against the flowers.
“Dad! I think I might be ready now, I have a place to plant my myrtle tree too and it’s beside someone I have started to adore.” He mumbled in a soft voice and then glanced at twig that had already borne some green leaves.
“Right there, beside that twig…” he added.
