Chapter 39 Teardrop!

Wolfsbane's benefits to a werewolf can never be compared to the numerous adverse effects it has on them. It is rather one of their worst nightmares.
Rogues usually dilute it to weaken themselves when they realize they may get out of hand and hurt people wantonly. Losing control of oneself would mean that the Dark-Dawn Pack would locate them without any difficulty.
Even in that case, the wolfsbane is diluted in water. A small pinch could be diluted with as much as a liter of water. Only a little portion is needed to acquire the necessary result.
Meanwhile, when wolfsbane touches a wolf's body, it causes the spot to burn and spread rapidly. Healing from such a burn is extremely slow, even though wolves have regenerative abilities.
Wolves in Dark-Dawn Avenue, however, have never needed to use Wolfsbane, as the full moon doesn't have any adverse effect on them.
Minnie Kurah Smith was fed a huge amount of wolfsbane that could be diluted in about a thousand liters of water. The situation was an unprecedented one that had not been witnessed in the Pack before.
She was burnt from the inside out. Minnie's body was full of sores, yet she couldn't be bandaged, as the heat would prevent the burn from healing faster.
When the kid in the supermarket threw wolfsbane at Kurah, she immediately caught the scent, but it was too late to dodge it. The kid was already in her arms.
Kurah made a last-minute compromise, and though helpful, it came with challenges.
Wolfsbane is known to be harmful to werewolves, and the two Smiths learned an old family technique that could lock their werewolf abilities briefly. This was to help them sail through plots that were aimed at hurting werewolves, but were actually not harmful to humans.
Kurah deployed the skill at that moment and briefly saved herself after inhaling the wolfsbane. Her intestines and other organs were burnt from the inside out, and her body also had burns as a result.
The short moment of switching was what saved her life, though barely. Healers did everything possible to heal her, but she couldn't be helped faster than she already was. Moreover, they didn't have any guarantees to give the family.
Gavin had to heal Kurah gradually, even though he wasn't a healer. Whenever he wasn't there, Ortiz would also do the little he could to heal Kurah. He thought Gavin didn't know, but he rather chose to turn a blind eye to it.
After all, Kurah needed all the help she could get.
When Drucilla's words registered in their minds, Ortiz was ready to fly out of the room to see Kurah, however, his instincts advised against it. He could only watch on helplessly as the Alpha rushed to take a look at his sister.
Kurah was indeed awake, which meant that she would feel all the pain that her terrible state of health brought onto her. As a healer herself, Kurah knew that her situation wasn't optimistic.
Looking at her mother and brother engulfed with so much pain because of her, she couldn't help being sorry. She felt so sorry for her actions causing them to worry so much about her.
She tried to speak, but the pain was too much. She also couldn't mind-link her brother or mother, since her wolf was severely wounded. Hence, her slow response rate.
One side effect of the secret technique was that the wolves of the individual become extremely weak, and in some severe cases, they lose them totally.
"Shhh! P..lease calm down. Don't say anything, okay? Just stay put." Luna Kendra advised her daughter, or what was left of her.
On the other hand, Gavin could be seen with such a tense expression that Kurah could tell her brother was seething. Even the air around him was icy. Kendra couldn't help looking over her shoulders to see her son.
She held his hands and said, "that includes you also. Take it easy!" In response, Gavin only gave her a slight nod and reigned in his aura as he said to his sister,
"Sorry kiddo, good to have you back." After that statement, he walked out and headed straight to his room.
Gavin's inability to control his anger had caused his sister to feel some discomfort. His sister was currently without a wolf, as Kurah was seriously injured. His aura affected her by making her feel cold to her bones. As a result, Gavin chose to leave her presence for a while.
He needed to compose himself and sort out certain things also.
Gavin hadn't slept in three nights, since his sister went into a coma. When the group arrived in Wolftown, he continued healing his sister as he had already started on their journey.
He was scared that he might close his eyes and wake up to hear the sad news of his sister's demise, as there was little progress in her health.
Back in the room, he felt that his sister wanted to say something, and he was right. Minnie wanted to ask her brother to get Lolita, as she knew that only her genius friend could help her.
When she couldn't speak or mind-link, she weakly turned her face away from them. He also noticed the teardrop that slid from the corner of her eyes. It was at that moment that he briefly lost control of himself and spread his alpha aura in the room.
Ever since Kurah got injured, Gavin forgot everything about his mate, as he did his best to ensure his sister recovered. He could only send his subordinates after the little boy, and his mother, only to find out they were mere humans who did not even know about werewolves.
The little boy didn't even know what happened in the supermarket that day. It was obvious that someone with very strong manipulative skills had possessed the boy briefly.
However, such skills didn't come without consequences. They searched for anyone who could be the culprit, but still returned empty-handed. After all, which of the subordinates could match Rubeetha's skills or even her ruthlessness?

Lolita sat on her bed as she worked away on her computer. The system might be connected and controlled, but the advantage here is that she could also do anything and get away with it.
There are so many visitors around, so she could just sit at a random spot and achieve her goals. Afterward, she leaves and wipes all traces of ever being there. They could only dream of catching her then.
Her mind then drifted to Venom's earlier words,
"I cannot reveal my real identity to you without putting you in danger. But I promise to show you at the right time.
However, if you need anything done, just ask. I can do anything to help"
Lolita squinted in frustration as she asked Venom once more, "So what are you doing here anyway?"
This time around, venom was forthright as the mamba replied briefly, "protecting you!"
Lolita looked intently at the mamba for a while but still kept her other thoughts to herself. After establishing that venom could help in anything, she began working away on her computer.
She felt that if she could hack into the hidden satellite of the country, she could find what she was looking for. So Lolita got to work on searching for the hidden device.
Suddenly, she heard someone call out to her faintly, as though from afar. Lolita didn't get any direction, nor did she hear a voice, but she knew someone wanted to reach out to her.
Her only conclusion was that it must be Kurah. She felt that since her mother doesn't even know her, it couldn't be her who was reaching out. She wasn't even certain of her mother's presence in Wolftown.
Suddenly, Lolita found an inconspicuous system on her radar. She wanted to ignore it but felt that she couldn't leave any stone unturned, and viola.
The Dark-Dawn Avenue's Darknet was displayed before her. Lolita stared briefly at the new finding in bliss, before proceeding with her work. She needed to hurry and log out since she was currently in her room.
Checking the time, she realized it was already one in the morning. After they all settled in the earlier hours of the evening, she was invited to come down for dinner, but Lolita declined.
Now that she had a glimpse of what she was looking for, Lolita suddenly felt famished.
"What can I eat now? Let's see."
