CHAPTER TWENTY FIVE

Myla sat down on the bed with a sigh. After what had happened, Ares and Cornelius had made her stay in the room while they went for a meeting and Myla quickly found out that her day to day life would be boring without Ares ordering her or Cornelius constantly bickering with her. She smiled but it immediately turned to a frown when she realized why she was smiling.
Myla stood up from the bed and walked over to the window with a sigh. She didn’t understand what was going on but the longer she spent time with Ares, the more she tried to convince herself that he wasn’t that bad because that’s the way it seemed to her but was that how he really was?

Ares drove his hand into the man’s eye socket and dragged out his eyeball. The man fell to the ground, screaming in pain while Ares just rolled his eyes and threw the eyeball on the ground and stomped on it because squatting in front of the man.
He grabbed the man by the hair and lifted his head up so they were eye leveled.
“I told you I don’t do second chances but you are someone I’ve known for so long so I don’t want to kill you off just like that but if you don’t find a way to get me rid of this demon the next time we meet, I won’t just be taking away your other eye but also your life. Got that?” He pushed the man to the ground as he stood up then turned to Cornelius with a groan.
“Get me something to change into, Myla won’t be happy seeing this blood on me” Cornelius furrowed his eyebrows.
“Why do you care If she sees blood on you?” Ares raised an eyebrow at him.
“Who said I did?” He walked away quickly before Cornelius could say something else.
Cornelius sighed as he shook his head.
“These two”

Myla stood up from the bed as soon as Ares walked into the room.
“You’re back, how was the meeting?” She questioned as she walked closer to him. Ares smirked.

“Why do you seem so happy to see me? Did you miss me little slave?” Myla’s eyes widened.
“What?! Of course not… you know… never mind” She turned to walk away but he grabbed her hand with a chuckle.

“It’s okay to miss me. Don’t friends miss friends?” Myla turned to him with wide eyes.
“You seriously… you seriously want to be my friend now?” Ares dramatically sighed.
“Well since you were begging for it yesterday, I thought….” Myla threw her arms around him before he could complete his sentence.
“Thank you” Ares stood there frozen as Myla hugged him. Her eyes widened when she suddenly realized what she was doing. She cleared her throat as she moved away from him.
“I'm sorry, I just … I just got excited" Ares chuckled.
“Never have I seen someone so happy to be my friend, I'm starting to think you have a motive" Her eyes widened as she frantically shook her head.
“What? Of course not. Why would you…"
“Relax little slave. It may seem like you need to go to this festival more than me so you can let loose" Myla smiled.
“I'm very excited to go. Back in my village, me and my friends never missed a festival. It was always so much fun, there were so many games and variety of food to eat. Is that how it is here?" Ares shrugged.
“I'm mostly inside a room with my lame uncles so I've never really gotten a chance to enjoy the festival" Myla frowned.
“What about when you weren't the Alpha king? When you were a child?" Ares scoffed.
“I wasn't even allowed out of the castle when I was younger. When the festival was going on, I would be locked inside my room with Cornelius. He's one of the reason I agreed to this because he never got to go, because of me" Myla couldn't help but feel sad for Ares. His childhood sounded so sad but at least he had Cornelius to keep him company. Maybe that was why Cornelius was so protective of Ares because he had seen Ares at his worse and Vulnerable time.
“What's your other reason?" Ares tilted his head.
“Well, getting Lucas to shut up was one of them" Myla giggled.

“So there's another reason?" Ares stared lingered on her for a while that Myla began to feel self conscious. Suddenly he smirked.
“Do you always question your friends like this?" Before she could answer, he walked over to his closet and pulled out a gown then turned to Myla and handed it to her.
“Wear this to the festival tonight" Myla's eyes widened as she took the gown from his hand.
“Don't open it yet. I'll be right back, I have to talk with Cornelius" Then he left her in the room, again but this time, Myla had a smile on her face as she caressed the gown in her arms. She couldn't help but ask herself, why was he doing all of this for her?

Ares sighed as Myla helped him button up his waistcoat.

“Are you guys sure no one is going to notice me in this?" He questioned as he glanced at Cornelius and Lucas. Cornelius nodded.
“This is a hooded tailcoat so no one is going to notice you"
“Plus, it goes well with your eye patch and you still look dashingly handsome" Lucas said with a wink which made Ares roll his eyes.

“I never worn anything like this before" Ares mumbled which made Myla look up at him with a smile.
“It does look good on you. Plus, it's only for today" Ares sighed.
“Fine" After Myla finished helping him dress up, he walked towards the mirror and glanced at himself. He liked it but he just felt so weird. He was so used to the big fur coats and golden cufflinks.
He suddenly turned to Lucas with a raised eyebrow.
“What are you doing in here anyways?" Lucas frowned.
“I thought I was part of the gang now. Let me join, please" He made puppy dog eyes at Ares.
“Ew" Ares muttered before turning away from him.
“We are not a gang so there's nothing for you to join. Let's leave now so Myla can get changed" Lucas stood up from the bed with a sigh then winked at Myla.
“I can't wait to see in you in that gown, Ares asked me to pick it out for you…. Owww!" Lucas winced when Ares landed a slap on his head.
“Shut your mouth and leave" After they all left Myla giggled. She remembered when she first arrived, Ares and Cornelius hardly talked to her…. Well Cornelius still doesn't talk to her that much but at least he's not as hostile while Ares, Ares smiled more these days and talked more. He just seemed happier than when she first met him and it somehow made her happy. She sighed as she ran her fingers through her hair. She shouldn't be thinking this way about him because he killed her father and she was here for revenge, wasn't she?
She shook her head to get rid of those thoughts. Today was a day to let loose and have fun and that was exactly what she was going to do.

Melody's eyes widened when Myla walked out of the room.
“Oh? You're the only one here? Where are they?" Myla asked as she walked up to Melody.
“Oh my, Myla you look so beautiful. You look like a lady" Myla stared down at her purple floral gown that matched well with her Rosy tone. It seemed Ares really liked pastel colours.
She tied her hair up because she felt it looked better that way and with Melody's reaction, it seems she was right.

Just then, Ares, Cornelius and Lucas walked into the hall. They all paused when they saw Myla but her eyes were on one of them specifically, Ares.
His eyes roamed her body till it got to her face and Myla could have sworn she heard him hold in his breath when their eyes met…..
