Messed plans

               #24
"Hey!"
Rotimi said calling Mitchell from a distance.
Mitchell turns around and finds out it's Rotimi.
"Yo!"
"You look good today what's the secret to this"
"Well, I don't know, if immortals have that ability"
Mitchell responded.
"So where are you headed?"
"No where far from home"
Mitchell said with her hands thrown in the air.
“Won’t you mind having dinner with me?”
Rotimi told Mitchell.
“Of course, we aren’t rivals yet”
Smirks.
“Of course!”
Rotimi agreed as they walked side by side with each other and went into a restaurant. She sights Senator Tunde and she smiles.
“So, I have this plan”
Rotimi began as she took a side parallel to Mitchel.
“Okay!”
“At first I wanted to erase the memory of Seun and his boys and I wanted to know how that is done and then I found it.”
“And what was it?”
“The museum!”
“And what about the museum?”
Mitchell asked with a chunk of meat in her mouth.
“Isn’t that chunk too large for your mouth?”
Rotimi said, holding back her laughter.
“Anyways. The answers are in the museum. The ability to exist men even before they truly become aging spirits”
“Okay!!!!”
Mitchell asked even more.
“Now according to the rules there is a law that governs this place right!”
“Right!”
“An immortal here can become an aging spirits even before time, once you violate more than three rules, and an immortal can be sent back to the real world when you’ve archived three new things”
Rotimi said with a satisfying smile.
Mitchell stopped munching as she found all that Rotimi was saying quite interesting.
“And how did you get to know all these? In less than a week!”
“Some of us are just determined than the rest”
Mitchell looks at her with a weird smile.
“So… what’s the plan?”
“According to the first law that governs this place, you are not for any reason allowed to break the only three feelings involved here”
“Wait! Do you mean we are allowed to feel?”
“Yes, but only pain they called it the trigger drive, pity, the mercy drive and numb, the silent drive”
“A good dead is not allowed to rest or spend a night in the bad dead, vice versa. And the appointed time for any night deal is 12 o’clock”
Rotimi continued.
“During midnight some set of chosen dead are permitted to go take their revenge on the mortals and that’s the advantage a good dead has over the bad dead, the bad dead is only to torment.”
“Wow! I am indeed impressed, so now what’s the plan”
“Easy, make sure Chief Oluwaseun breaks all the rules”
“Wow! That’s very smart”
“I know!”
Rotimi giggles.
“So is that the reason behind all this happiness?”
“I mean yes, it won’t cause much issues, and we won’t have to be rivals and you don’t have to worry about me”
Rotimi said giving Mitchell a stare
“Don’t stare at me like that! I didn’t say I was Gay!”
“Hey! I didn’t mention that either”
They both laughed. And kept on drinking. Chief Oluwaseun kept on looking at her from a distance.
“Unbelievable! who gave her the right to be happy!”
Chief Oluwaseun said pained.
“That’s not even the issue, the fact that she’s in the good dead is suspicious enough to give her a break!”
“Give her a break? Look at your body well tattooed with some write ups that I don’t even understand. Look at Lawal body and then take a look at my head and I should let her edge off just like that?”
“Sincerely of a truth I agree with Seun this time, that girl made a whole lot out of us, eliminating her existence is just the best gift one would have to give humanity. I do consider it a gift.”
Chief Oluwaseyi thought about what Senator Lawal said.
“Eliminating her existence! That wouldn’t be a bad idea you know”
“Definitely not”
Senator Tunde agreed.
“Great, so what’s the plan?”
Chief Oluwaseun looking at the two of them.
“The library should have the answers… I mean that’s where all the records of this place are kept right!”
“Well we will just have to find out”
Chief Oluwaseun said with a very evil smile.
“Shall we?”
Mitchell asked Rotimi as they were about leaving.
“Yes we shall”
Rotimi smiled as they held themselves drunk till they were outside.
“So…. Who is going to be your first torment target?”
“My brother Femi of course”
They laughed.
“Are you kidding?”
“No way! He cared less, so I’m sure he’s less burdened now right”
Giggles.
“Right!”
“What about you? Who shall be your target?”
“My father of course”
“He deserves it”
They laughed still holding themselves under the beauty of the full moon.
“Just look at how drunk they have become in just one night”
“Are you about to pity them?”
“Me? Feels like you’ve forgotten who exactly you’re referring this to. It’s I Chief Oluwaseun, Senator Lawal, the one whose heart shows no mercy or pity. Never have you forgotten that. Understood!”
Senator Lawal smirks with a nod.
Senator Tunde on the other hand, takes the last gulp of his wind. The dead cold world of the Immortal really gave him the edge of becoming as cold as ice, exactly as he wanted it back then.
Sighs.
“The clock is ticking fast, we don’t want to be the first spirits to violent the midnight rule”
He said as he got up with a long, strict face.
“I really do have a strong jealousy for you Tunde, I’m sure you are aware, and a little apathy too”
Senator Lawal thought loud
“And I’m sure you also know of how I don’t really care right, like that attitude of mine that gets on peoples nerves”
“Okay guys… let's head back home. Senator Tunde has always been like that, it’s no new thing at all”
Chief Oluwaseun said as they laughed and both Senator Lawal and Chief Oluwaseun were confused by the fact that Senator Tunde actually laughed. They gave him a look.
“What!!!?”
“I think you sincerely owe us an explanation”
“To what exactly?”
“To the fact that you actually can laugh this good”
Senator Lawal said on halt folding his arms for an explanation.
Then Senator Tunde clears his throat and sets his face back to default.
“we thought as much!”
Chief Oluwaseun said coldly as they left the bar.

Stands in front of his dressing mirror, he had a new haircut recently and it was making him look so cool
“You look helplessly great”
He commended himself trying to put up a smile and not let the thought of missing Rotimi spoil that for him.
Sighs.
I know it's been 5 days already but it looks like a whole year for me. If they like they call me crazy, but Timi dear, I’m going to wait for your return!”
He said as he arranged his tie, took his phone and went downstairs.
“Good morning ma”
He said to the person in charge of the maintenance of the hotel.
“Good morning sir!”
“I’m off to work, here are my keys”
“Okay! What time would you be returning?”
“Before midnight”
He said with a smile and dashed off to board a taxi.
He reaches the office and to his surprise everyone was glad to meet him, including those that hated him out of no just cause.
“We missed you Seyi!”
“Really?”
“Yeah, very much, so glad to have you back, hope your well!”
“I’m good”
“Sir Charles was really affected by your absence, he was much stressed, and he literally called everyone Seyi”
Oluwaseyi smiles.
“Thank you very much for the worry and care, I’m fine anyways. Indeed when a man ways pleases the Lord he makes even his enemies at peace with him”
Oluwaseyi sarcastically said with a smile on his face. His colleagues that came around went back to their seats.
“Can’t you just change a bit?”
“I did change”
He said, still smiling.
“anyways I’m off to sir Charles office, thank you so much for caring I really appreciate it”
He said as he pats one on his shoulder and moves quickly away. He knocks at the door of Sir Charles and of a truth he wasn’t doing well.
“Good morning Sir Charles”
“You’re late today”
Sir Charles said coldly.
“I’m very sorry sir!”
Its fine, these are today's document, a good number has been checked by me, do the rest”
“Okay sir!”
“You may take your leave”
Sir Charles said and will not look at him twice. Oluwaseyi looks at Sir Charles' cold behavior. Sir Charles is one of the support systems in his life.
“That’s very conscientious hunting, Sir Charles!”
He said taking the rest of the files to his office, he tried hard to concentrate but Sir Charles' cold ways was still in his head, so he got up to go meet  Sir Charles.
“Sir Charles.”
Oluwaseyi called out slowly as she sat own on the seat in front of him
“Sir Charles, why are you being so cold to me, you know that this is strange and I couldn’t concentrate with those files, Sir Charles you are a very important figure to my life, you’re like a father to me”
“I’m I?”
Sir Charles said, raising up his face and looking at Oluwaseyi who was in his purest form of honesty and sincerity.
“Sir Charles!”
“Oluwaseyi, you know how much you are valued by me right!”
“Yes Sir Charles”
“Good, how could you keep me in the dark?”
Oluwaseyi looked at Sir Charles and just didn’t know how to make himself less guilty.
“Sir Charles!”
“Five days Seyi, five days because seeing you today, makes me bored!”
“Sir Charles please!
Oluwaseyi was getting hurt slowly
“So you are standing in front of me…..”
“…..Sir Charles Rotimi is dead!”
Sir Charles raises his head and looks at Oluwaseyi who was already at the edge of tears.
“Rotimi was shot dead after my kidnap, Sir Charles how could you just treat me like this?
“The last thing I needed from you was support, and this, this cold attitude was all I got?”
Oluwaseyi sniffs, and nods his head slowly.
“If you really cared like you speak off, was my contact on a holiday in your phone? Why didn’t you call?”
There it occurred to him that he had done badly to Oluwaseyi.
Sighs.
“I’m going home sir!”
“Seyi,”
Oluwaseyi gets up and leaves. Sir Charles looks at Oluwaseyi badly and hurts as he leaves.
His workmates finds him leaving and they were worried and confused. The makeup of happiness that he applied to his face was cleaning off, as tears and bitterness kept coming back in his mind.
“I just can’t believe this.”
He said not looking at the road to where he was headed, then a car hits him on the way and Rotimi screams without knowing why.
Mitchell who sat beside her looks at her and sighs.
“Something has happened to a loved one down there on earth”
Rotimi, panting trying to normalize her breath.
“That could only explain why you screamed, for a bad dead, we have fangs and we are pushed to revenge.
Rotimi still didn’t say a word as she closed her eyes so as to teleport herself down to earth. And she takes her to the hospital, and she saw Oluwaseyi lying almost dead, then she saw Sir Charles rushes inside. The same expression of guilt written on Sam’s face the day she died was the same expression Sir Charles wore.
“What’s all this drama with my Seyi?”
She asked rhetorically because they cannot see or hear her. She walks up to Oluwaseyi and touches him, then his eyes are opened to see.
“Rotimi, Rotimi I knew you'd come back”
Oluwaseyi said very happily, hugging Rotimi. Rotimi hugs him back as anger reigns in her mind again.
“Seyi! Who did this?”
“Did what?”
“You’re in the hospital almost dead, your blood called me”
Oluwaseyi stood for a while to understand what Rotimi was talking about.
“This is your spirit, your body is in the hospital, and do you get it now? Who almost killed you?”
“If this is my spirit doesn’t it mean I’m dead already?”
“No! I just took it for a while so I can know who killed you, and why is Sir Charles wearing that face of guilt?”
Rotimi said, making before his eyes the earth world. Then Oluwaseyi sighs and becomes moody again.
“What’s the matter?”
“I went to work today after mourning you for four days. The day I went to the office was the fifth day, I got a warm welcome from the rest of my colleagues, but Sir Charles was rather cold.”
“Okay!!?”
“And when I got to tell him that it’s because of your death he became quite remorseful, but he had already hurt that part of trust in me”
Oluwaseyi said feeling sad again.
“And you decided to get yourself killed?”
Oluwaseyi raised his head and looked at Rotimi.
“It wasn’t intentional, I was just drowned and I didn’t even know I was on the streets again”
Rotimi sighs.
“I know things are tough with you, but for my sake, stay alive and healthy, okay!”
“Will you be coming back? Anytime soon?”
Rotimi looks at the desperation in Oluwaseyi's eyes.
“I will, I will definitely come back but in another body, I hear you still kept my body in the ice room, no need, that body has its own weakness, everybody has, but I will be back in a newer and less troubled body, in the meantime, Seyi please eat on my behalf”
“I’ve heard you, but you know I miss you so much”
“I’ll be back, my time is up”
“Timi please stay, Tee!!!”
He kept on calling her name and woke up in the reality of life and saw the crowd that was with him and he looked at Sir Charles who just heaved out a sigh of relief.
“Oluwaseyi how do you feel?”
He looks at Sir Charles and lays back on the bed.
“Bored!”
He replied and closed his eyes.
Sir Charles was caught up in his own web, Sam on the other hand will make no dare to go inside. The guilt he felt within him will not let him for any reason.
Sir Charles exhales and smiles.
“I feel the same way too you know”
Sir Charles said as he rested his back on the chair.
“Bored! Every single day that passed without me seeing someone whose dress sense asked me if I shouldn’t take fashion classes, whose sense of decency was just my taste not to mention the sarcastic way of responding to your clients who were heels over your head…that was fun and worth it. But the first day passed, no Seyi, the second, third, fourth…and on the fifth day, here you are showing up like Jesus who plans to give us a surprise visit
Oluwaseyi turns around and looks at Sir Charles.
“Sir Charles”
Oluwaseyi called softly.
“I agree to the fact that I would have called, I tell you the truth, it didn’t come to mind that I would have done that. I’m sorry”
“Sir Charles, she was shot dead right in my very eyes at the academy, for trying to bring justice to me who she thought had died”
Seyi started as he was already at the edge of tears.
“We were on our way for a trip, and that night while we were at the highway, some gunmen attacked us, and separated me from her, then her car exploded while the man who took me shot me. How was I not supposed to think she was dead?”
Cries. Sir Charles felt very bad. Sam still stood at the window watching Seyi say all these things.
“And it occurred that either of us was dead. She told a friend of mine who is at the academy what had happened but how dare he believe her, she didn’t have proof, so he couldn’t move. No!”
“Sir Charles' pain is real, I can imagine all she went through before she decided to take action. On her first kill, Sam decides to do an investigation. What kind of Christianity do we all practice?”
Oluwaseyi nodded his head to the fact that he still can’t believe Sam did this. But to be honest was Sam really to be blamed? Sam heard all these and walked away slowly, even if he told Seyi that he was the one who saved his life just now, would that even count?
Sir Charles goes off his seat and hugs him.
“Sir Charles, how could you even treat me like that?”
“I’m so sorry Seyi, So Sorry”
He said, patting his back, and retired to his seat.
“I drank a lot Sir Charles, I did. And I believe she’s going to return. Rotimi will still come back”
This was the part that froze Sir Charles.
“What does he mean by she is going to come back?”
I hope he hasn’t let obsession take over his heart”
Sir Charles had so many questions to voice out, but for the sake of Oluwaseyi health, he smiles and looks at him.
“You are going to be fine soon okay!”
“I know”
His response was like one who doesn’t care anymore about what the world had to offer, apart from pains, what else?

Folding the clothes in a more melancholy way,
Was she destined to be a widow? Why has life decided to treat her this way? She wipes away the tears that were in her eyes. Then did the parable of ancient time appear to sound so real to her now.
“You’ll never know the value of something until you lose it”
She stares at the bath and remembers when Rotimi had helped her out. She felt so dirty, used and tired of herself but the load she carried before her wouldn’t let her.
She heaved a sigh and looked at the children God gave her.
Ola came crawling towards her and gave her a smile, she looked at the child and only could wish that her memory be formatted to have an empty space just filled with the better days the books spoke of.
