Chapter 240: Indulging in Life
Kieu Ly had never gone out to experience such services before, so for a moment she felt like royalty. It was truly comfortable.
Taking advantage of the free time, Kieu Ly asked Huong Tra about the activities that the bank regularly organized, and about Huong Tra’s expectations for the work environment.
Huong Tra vaguely imagined a beautiful working scene, and both of them slowly drifted into sleep.
Seeing that the customers had fallen asleep, the two massage staff quietly stepped out to let the guests rest a bit more. Thirty minutes later, one of the SPA staff returned to gently wake the guests.
After the body massage and a short nap, Kieu Ly felt as if her body had been revived. Suddenly, she wanted her husband to experience this kind of service too. But then again, when it came to men, going for a massage was often associated with something... not so proper. It was best not to let her husband get involved.
Still not wanting to return to the office, Kieu Ly sat up, wrapped a towel around herself, and moved over to Huong Tra’s bed, making the SPA staff widen her eyes in surprise.
Kieu Ly said:
– Watch me and see if I’m doing it right.
The young staff member didn’t ask much, just nodded and observed:
– Okay.
– Green tea girl*, lie down and enjoy. If something’s not right, say so. If it’s close to her level, let me know.
(*Note: “Trà xanh” literally means green tea, but in Vietnamese slang, it can also refer to a flirtatious girl who pretends to be innocent. Here it's used playfully.)
Huong Tra lay still to let Kieu Ly practice on her foot. Kieu Ly was a studious person, but Huong Tra hadn’t expected her to want to learn this too.
Kieu Ly gently held Huong Tra’s foot and started massaging, making Huong Tra feel ticklish and pull her foot back:
– Ah! That tickles!
Kieu Ly didn’t give up, held Huong Tra’s foot again and continued:
– Try to bear with it.
Kieu Ly massaged while asking the young staff if she was doing it correctly.
The young SPA staff gave guidance enthusiastically and didn’t hold back, because she wasn’t worried that someone like Kieu Ly would steal her job.
When Kieu Ly started pressing the acupressure points, it caused Huong Tra a bit of pain, and as a natural reflex, she pulled her foot back:
”Stubborn Ly, you’re not cut out for the massage profession. That hurts.”
Huong Tra objected, but deep down she knew how stubborn her friend was. If Kieu Ly didn’t succeed, she probably wouldn’t be allowed to go home.
“ Sorry! Just hang in there a bit more, okay?”
Kieu Ly didn’t give up, gently stretched Huong Tra’s foot out again and asked the young staff member to guide her once more.
After working hard for quite a while, Kieu Ly finally got the technique right. The one who suffered the most was Huong Tra, used as a guinea pig for practice.
Seeing how dedicated Kieu Ly was, Huong Tra could guess why she was learning. When Huong Tra loved someone, she also gave her all — but only with what she already had. For example, she could cook well and was happy to cook for her partner. But Kieu Ly, when in love, was willing to learn things she hadn’t known before — that was a wholehearted kind of love, something Huong Tra might not be able to do. Fortunately, Kieu Ly had found someone worthy, so she wasn’t being short-changed. Or perhaps, she was willing to do those things because he was worth it.
By the time Kieu Ly had mastered it, it was already 4:30 PM. She took out her husband’s credit card to pay and also gave a cash tip to the young staff member who had taught her.
Seeing that Kieu Ly also paid for her, Huong Tra didn’t say anything. Having a best friend with a rich husband was truly a blessing — getting treated without having to give anything in return.
Even at 4:30 PM, the weather outside was unbearably hot. When the two stepped out of the building, the sun was still blazing so fiercely that they both felt dizzy.
They quickly got into a taxi to return to the office. This intense heat was surely a sign that a heavy storm was coming soon.
By the time they got back to the office, it was already 4:45 PM. Toan Phuong had finished his meeting and was now sitting alone, focused on his work in the office.
