Landon's POV 
When I walked out on Nadia, I know I gave her a lot to think about. Now at least, she has one more reason to never imagine defaulting, else, I'd make life help for her and I don't mind throwing myself under the bus top. 
There was no way I was going to let her move on without me, we both know that. 
I don't know when to expect her, but I definitely do know it's soon. For now, there are more urgent things to attend to. Like the bastard who had so much guts coming up here and throwing all that tantrum to threaten me. 
This is one reason why I need to keep people subdued. They keep growing wings and make the mistake of thinking they are fit to fly. 
I'm going to clip all those whose wings I have to, and when I do it, I'm going to make sure I do it well. 
Just a few years ago, I sought help from a not so far away park. Their late Alpha was a little cautious, and so little progress was made during his time. 
I made sure no one knew about it, definitely not Nadia for fear she would have let it slip to Talia, who surely would have let Vance know, p0and I'd be the one cold and buried, under the ground. 
My trips to and from their pack were always calculated. Well, until the new bastard ascended the throne. Power hungry like a ravished wolf, he was only too glad to take up my offer. The job was very simple. 
It would start with minor attacks and threats to Moonstone. During which Vance's reign would have garnered all the skepticism and doubt from pack members that I need it to. 
There was a little thorn I had to take out first before we were able to start something. His silly little brother who wanted to act the devil's advocate part, I took out first. 
I can't deny not seeing this coming. I knew Karl would only be too eager to go against me with the same zeal he had when he jumped at the chance to wreck Moonstone with me. 
After all the attacks we were supposed to carry out, Moonstone should have been weakened, then that would have been my chance to publicly challenge Vance. 
But all Karl, Kael's elder brother, did was put his own pack members in trouble. The morning right after we made the pact, he madly sent untrained juveniles out. All the idiots did were rape women and break properties. It was only a matter of minutes before they were caught and Vance made smoking meat out of them. I wish I was hurt when I learned about it, but I could not even care less. 
On our next meeting after Vance executed, according to Karl, his “best warriors” the stupid man-child threw tantrums, threatening to take Revenge on Moonstone, regardless of our pact. I just wanted power, I didn't mean to wreck a kingdom I wanted to take over. 
It definitely wasn't my intention to ghost Moonlily, but it was necessary. I really did not think anything good would come from our alliance. If anything, he just exaggerated how much of a sore loser I was. And I wasn't going to let him take me down with him. 
Karl, however, does not take stuff like those in good faith, apparently. I guess his mouth hasn't dried from the salivation at the thought of all I promised him as compensation for cooperation. He was clearly leading his pack to a wreck, which is why even after almost two years since I called it quits, he's still persistent and hell bent on continuing it, even though he's a bitter failure, or threatening me, which he is now doing. 
It's high time I paid him that visit he always wanted. He finally now has my attention, fully! 
  “Where's he?!” I asked the first little malnourished maid I met at his dingy palace. The place smelt so putrid and definitely not even fit for even a commoner in Moonstone. 
The bony maid turned, observing me with eyes that looked so big, one would think she had magnifying lenses on. She feigned not hearing what I said and made the “huh” sound, making her teeth hang out like a captured squirrel. 
Maybe some other day when the mood was lighter, it would have been humorous. But today, it was plain irritating, disturbing even. 
I just walked on ahead. Either way, it was courtesy, I very well knew where the drunk bastard, who Moonlily was unfortunate enough to appoint as Alpha would be by this time of the day. Definitely drunk and cursing in his bar, more like the remains of it. 
  “What the fuck did you do that for?!” I bellowed as soon as I caught the sight of his balding head thrown back carelessly from the broken chair he obviously crashed on. 
I had only managed to wake him up from his alcohol induced slumber. The amount of gold on his person could definitely give his pack territory a face lift if he cares for them even one-tenth of how he cares for himself. The whole pack was in shambles and definitely would stand no chance if tables were turned and Moonstone were to attack. 
But I was not going to be fooled like that. The most unseemly packs have the worst and fiercest fighters. ‘There's always a pay for a gain’, as Talia used to say when buttressing the fact that one couldn't have it all. You have one and not the other, but never both. 
I walked over to where he was seated, now half drunk, snatched the cup off of his hands and smashing it against the floor, it spilled all its content that quickly filled the room of its alcoholic scent. “Why would you even think of doing that?!” I asked him again. “Where are the babies?” I followed immediately so he would know I definitely was in no mood for jokes. 
  “What…what are you talking about?” He stuttered incoherently, when he saw I was just seconds from towering him, to maybe beating the shit out of him. His underfed guards were predictably absent, and I would have been done with Moon Goddesses' will for their Alpha Karl before they would smell anything fishy. 
  “I said why did you and your wretched followers think of laying your feet in Moonstone?” I demanded really loudly this time. “You know, I could just surrender you to Vance.”
  “And you think I would go down that easy?” He retorted.
