Chapter 64

Key’s Point of View
It’s already the third week of October. Yes, time really does pass fast. It felt like just last week that classes resumed—but I haven’t even been attending. I don’t know why. I’ve lost all motivation. I’m completely worn out from life. My mind is in chaos, and it feels like I could snap at any moment.
And honestly? I don’t even care if we fail this mission. None of it matters anymore. The reasons I had to keep fighting—they’re gone. Both of them. One turned his back on me, the other… left me behind.
I got up from my bed and faced the mirror in my room. I punched it—hard. It shattered instantly, blood smearing across the surface. I looked down at my bleeding knuckles, pulled out the shards embedded in my skin, then stared back at my fractured reflection.
“This won’t end here. I’ll prove to everyone that a Summers isn’t someone to take lightly.” I clenched my jaw. “I’ll show them how their pain has changed me.”
I stepped into the bathroom and took a long shower, almost an hour. That’s enough. My one-month break ends today. I may never bring Dash back, but at the very least, I’ll get the justice he deserves.
I left my room and walked into the living room, my bag slung over one shoulder. I coldly stared at my reflection in the large mirror. Just army pants, a plain white t-shirt, white leather shoes, and a black cap. I’ve stopped wearing glasses two weeks ago. There’s no point—I never had vision problems to begin with.
I drove fast to school, arriving a little past nine. I immediately noticed the new school guards—three of them. And not just that—there were men in black stationed inside and outside the campus.
I was confused when they bowed their heads slightly as I passed, until I noticed the pins on their chests. They were from the same agency as me—SAOA.
One of them handed me a walkie-talkie without meeting my gaze. I took it.
“In case of emergency, Agent Key,” he said. His voice was calm, but clear enough to hear.
“What about the other Alphas?”
“They’ve all been given one as well, Agent Key.”
I gave a curt nod and continued walking. So Madame Sierra wasn’t bluffing. She really did clean up the mess Adam Demeri left behind.
As I walked down the hallway, I noticed students throwing me dirty looks. It was class hours, yet there were still so many loitering outside their rooms.
I was about to head upstairs to our classroom when I saw Spiro coming down. I stopped. Our eyes met—and I recognized him immediately. It was him. I knew it.
As he tried to walk past me, I grabbed his arm, twisted it behind his back, and shoved him against the nearest wall. I knew people were watching, but I didn’t care.
“It’s you,” I said coldly, voice low but firm.
“Fuck—let me g-go,” he struggled, and I twisted his arm tighter.
I let out a dry laugh. “You’re good, Albion. No wonder you vanished for almost a month.” My smirk turned bitter. “How did getting shot feel? Did it hurt?”
He scoffed. “You’re such an idiot, Summers. You only realized that now?”
He broke free with a strong jerk, catching me off guard.
He aimed a punch, but I quickly ducked and countered with a kick to his side. I was ready to beat him down—but then a swarm of students tackled me.
There were too many. I couldn’t fight back. Damn it—what the hell is wrong with these people?!
I groaned when I hit the ground hard, landing painfully on my lower back. I was about to glare at them—but froze when I saw what they were holding. Baseball bats. Stones. Even eggs.
What the hell?!
One of them threw an egg at me, but it missed. When I looked up again, some students were standing in front of me—shielding me. Protecting me.
One of them turned around—and I was stunned when I recognized him.
“S-Senior…” I whispered.
He smiled at me. “Escape now, Summers. Save yourself.”
I nodded and slowly got to my feet. I glanced at them one last time before I sprinted off to search for Spiro. But he was gone. I couldn't find him.
I grabbed my walkie-talkie and spoke into it.
“Connecting to all SAOA agents inside the school. Secure the entire campus and locate the target: Spiro Albion.”
“Copy that, Agent Key!”
I ran to the Dean’s Office but stopped in my tracks when I saw Merville and the others. Bolt’s face was filled with rage—something was definitely wrong.
“What happened?” I asked, gripping my walkie tightly.
“All of your classmates are missing, Mavis,” Yvo said. My eyes widened. “Kobe and Gio, too.”
My heart dropped. I glanced at Merville—she was on the verge of tears.
“Kuya Chord’s gone, too. And the twins, Mavis,” Bolt added.
My knees almost buckled.
“What about the Carters?”
“They dropped out last week.”
“The Dean,” I growled. “He might know something.”
The four of us ran toward the Dean’s office. I’ve always suspected his behavior—and Denim once told me their dad had been acting strange. If I confirm that he’s involved… he’s done for.
I kicked the door open with force. We stormed inside as the Dean hurriedly closed the door behind us.
Bolt loosened his shirt collar as if trying to hold back an explosion.
“What are you doing he—”
“What do you know?!” I shouted, storming to his desk and grabbing him by the collar. He stumbled to his feet in surprise. “Tell me! Do you know anything?!”
When he didn’t respond, I let go and slammed my fist down on his desk. Pain shot through my already-injured hand.
“Your children are missing and you’re just sitting there?!” I screamed. “What kind of father are you?!”
“You don’t have the right to question me like that! You don’t know how much I care for my childr—”
“I do have the right! I was once your daughter!” I screamed.
We both fell silent. I didn’t mean to say that. Shit.
Anger really does make you say the most unexpected things.
“It’s funny, really,” I continued, voice trembling. “You don’t even remember me. Not one of my real family remembers me. That’s how cruel this world has been to me.”
I fought back the tears. No time for crying.
“I’ve accepted that you lost me once, but please, Papa… don’t let them take the others too,” I begged.
He said nothing, just stared at me in shock. But in his eyes—I saw tears beginning to form.
“You’re… you’re…”
“Yes, Dean. It’s me. The dead Daron Demeri.”
