Chapter 47

The atmosphere in her office felt tenser than usual. The sky outside was overcast, as if signaling that something bad was about to happen. But Emylia was unfazed. She had made her decision, and she wasn’t going to turn back.
A loud knock on the door caught her attention.
“Come in,” she said calmly, closing the file she had been reviewing.
The door opened, and a man stepped in with undeniable charisma. His movements were slow, yet filled with confidence. He was dressed in a sharp black suit, a luxurious watch wrapped around his wrist. His handsome face carried a hint of menace, but the smirk on his lips suggested something else.
Jungkook.
Or more precisely—Black Fox.
Emylia leaned back in her chair, crossing her arms. “I figured you’d come.”
Jungkook merely smiled slightly before taking a seat in front of her without waiting for an invitation. “So, you’re really going to terminate our partnership?” His voice was calm, but there was something in his tone that made the air feel heavier.
Emylia nodded. “Yes. Jihoon is gone. I don’t need this business relationship anymore.”
Jungkook exhaled slowly, as if he had anticipated that response. “Do you realize what you’re doing?” He leaned back, studying Emylia’s face. “If you cancel this deal, there will be a lot of consequences. And I’m not the kind of person who lets things slide without repercussions.”
Emylia didn’t flinch. Her gaze met Jungkook’s sharp eyes. “I’m ready for whatever comes.”
Jungkook smirked. “Are you sure?”
“Sure.”
His smirk widened. “Good. I like brave women.” He stood up slowly, but before leaving, he leaned slightly toward Emylia.
“Be prepared, Emylia,” he whispered, his voice low yet clear enough to make her skin crawl. “Because I’m not going to let this go so easily.”
Emylia didn’t react. She simply stared at Jungkook with a blank expression.
Jungkook straightened himself and walked to the door. Before stepping out, he glanced back once more. “I hope you’re strong. Because the game has just begun.”
The door shut, leaving Emylia alone in her office. She clenched her fists on the desk.
She knew Jungkook wasn’t someone to be taken lightly. But she also wasn’t a weak woman who would bow to anyone.
If war was what Jungkook wanted, then she would be ready.
---
Taehyung drove through the busy streets of Seoul, his mind clouded with everything that had been happening lately. Jihoon was gone, Emylia was back in his life, and he knew something was being planned by his enemies. But he hadn’t expected them to act this fast.
As he pressed the brake to slow down at an intersection, his heart nearly stopped.
The pedal was loose. No response.
“My brakes—”
His eyes widened, his hands immediately twisting the steering wheel to avoid crashing into the cars ahead. The vehicle sped forward, completely out of control.
“Damn it!”
He slammed the brakes repeatedly, but it was useless. The road ahead sloped downward, and a large truck appeared from the opposite turn. Its horn blared loudly in the air.
Hoooonk! Hoooonk!
Taehyung tried his best to steer, but his speed was already too high. He had only one option—crash into the barrier before veering into oncoming traffic.
Bang!!
The car smashed into the guardrail with immense force, shattering glass and sending metal debris flying. Taehyung felt his body slam into the steering wheel before everything became a blur. The sound of horns, people shouting, and a ringing in his ears overwhelmed him.
Warm blood trickled down his forehead, his vision turning hazy. But amidst the chaos, he heard something—a voice speaking through his still-open phone line.
“The job is done, boss.”
Boss?
Jung—
Before he could finish his thought, his vision darkened, and everything faded.
Kris smirked as he observed Taehyung’s condition.
“He’s down, boss.”
---
Ray stood outside the emergency room, his face tense. The sharp scent of antiseptics filled his nostrils, and the hurried footsteps of nurses only made his anxiety worse. He exhaled heavily, his eyes locked on the tightly closed doors.
Finally, a doctor emerged, still wearing bloodstained gloves.
“How is he?” Ray asked immediately.
The doctor took a deep breath before responding, “He’s lost a lot of blood. His condition is stable for now, but—we need a blood donor urgently. His blood type is rare.”
Ray clenched his fists. “I’ll find a donor. But… how much time does he have?”
The doctor looked at him seriously. “If we don’t get enough blood within six hours, his condition may deteriorate. We’ll do everything we can, but the sooner, the better.”
Ray nodded quickly before pulling out his phone. He needed to find someone with Taehyung’s blood type. Time was running out. If he was too late, he might lose Taehyung forever.
He dialed Haesong’s number, his heart pounding with each ring.
“Pick up, uncle…” he muttered, sweat forming on his brow.
After a few moments, Haesong’s deep voice finally answered. “Ray?”
Ray took a deep breath. “Uncle, Taehyung was in an accident. He’s in the hospital now—”
“What?!” Haesong’s voice rose in shock.
“He’s lost a lot of blood. The doctor says he needs an urgent donor. Do you know anyone with the same blood type?”
There was a brief silence before Haesong said, “I do. I have the same blood type.”
Ray exhaled in relief. “Then you need to come now. We don’t have much time.”
“Send me the hospital’s address. I’ll be there immediately.”
Ray quickly sent the location. He could only hope Haesong arrived in time. Taehyung’s condition was critical, and he couldn’t bear to lose another friend.
Haesong strode into the hospital with a tense expression. As soon as he arrived, a nurse led him to the blood donation room. He sat down, allowing the needle to pierce his arm, his blood flowing into a special bag for Taehyung.
Ray stood nearby, his face tight with worry. Haesong glanced at him sharply. “How did this happen?”
Ray clenched his fists, his frustration evident. “Taehyung’s brakes failed. But I’m sure… this wasn’t an accident.”
Haesong frowned. “What do you mean?”
Ray stepped closer, lowering his voice. “Someone sabotaged Taehyung’s car. I suspect this was Jungkook’s doing.”
Haesong’s eyes widened, his jaw tightening. “Jungkook?”
Ray nodded. “I don’t have solid proof yet, but I can feel it. He has a reason to do this to Taehyung.”
Haesong gritted his teeth. “If this is his doing, I won’t let him get away with it.”
A nurse approached, checking the collected blood. “The blood is sufficient. We’ll begin the transfusion immediately.”
Haesong only nodded before standing up. He turned to Ray, his eyes dark with anger. “Make sure you investigate this thoroughly. If Jungkook is responsible, I’ll deal with him myself.”
Ray nodded. His gaze returned to the emergency room, his heart still weighed down with worry.

POV Emylia
Today was just like any other day. I was busy reviewing the stacks of important documents piling up on my desk. Ever since Jihoon's death, everything had fallen under my control. I had to ensure that every business operation ran smoothly without any disruptions.
My eyes remained fixed on the computer screen, scanning the latest transaction reports. My fingers danced over the keyboard, completing several tasks before the afternoon meeting.
Suddenly, there was a knock on my office door. A staff member entered with an expression I couldn't quite decipher.
"Madam Emylia, there's a letter for you."
I lifted my head, staring at the brown envelope being handed to me. There was no sender’s name—only my name, neatly written on the front.
I frowned. A strange feeling crept into me. Slowly, I took the letter.
"Who sent this?"
"I'm not sure, ma'am. A delivery boy left it at the front desk. He said it was important."
I nodded, gesturing for the staff to leave. Once the door closed, I stared at the envelope for a few seconds. My hands felt heavy, as if my instincts already knew that something bad awaited inside.
Taking a deep breath, I carefully tore the envelope open. A small memory chip slipped out along with a folded letter.
My heart pounded. With slightly trembling hands, I unfolded the paper and read its contents.
---
"Emylia,
You canceled the deal, and now you have to pay the price for your decision. Taehyung… he’s blind. Some of his organs are severely damaged. The doctors are looking for a donor, but you know, don’t you? Not everyone is lucky. Maybe he’ll survive… or maybe he won’t.
You dared to make a decision without thinking of the consequences. Now, be prepared to face them.
– Black Fox"
---
My blood ran cold.
I read the words again, making sure I hadn't misread them. But every sentence remained the same.
Taehyung… is blind?
His organs are damaged?
He might die?
It felt like the world had stopped spinning. My breath caught in my throat. My grip on the letter tightened as if holding it harder could somehow change the reality in front of me.
No. This couldn't be happening.
With trembling hands, I quickly grabbed the memory chip and inserted it into my computer. The screen turned black for a moment before a video began playing.
My heartbeat raced.
On the screen, I saw Taehyung inside his car. His hands were gripping the steering wheel tightly. His face was tense, his eyes wild as he searched for a way out. His lips moved—maybe cursing, maybe praying.
His hands pressed the brakes—again and again.
But the car didn't stop.
I covered my mouth with my hand, my body beginning to tremble.
The video continued.
I watched as the car sped out of control, heading toward a sharp curve at a speed impossible to slow down.
The sound of tires screeching against the road echoed in the video.
And then—
A deafening crash.
Shattered glass.
Twisted metal.
The screen went black.
I couldn't breathe.
Tears fell before I even realized it. My body felt weak, as if all the energy had been drained from me.
"T-Taehyung…" His name escaped my lips in a barely audible whisper.
I clutched the letter tighter, my entire body trembling.
No… I couldn't lose him.
I wouldn’t let him die.
I had to go to the hospital. Right now.
---
I sped down the road, my fingers gripping the steering wheel tightly. My mind was in chaos, but only one thought consumed me—I had to find Taehyung.
After receiving the letter and video, I had immediately left my office. I tried tracking down which hospital was treating him. I went to several major hospitals in Seoul, asking at the emergency counters, hoping for an answer.
But it was all in vain.
"I'm sorry, we have no record of a patient named Kim Taehyung," said one of the nurses.
My heart clenched with unease. If he was truly in critical condition, there should be records. Or… was someone hiding him?
Ray.
I needed to find Ray.
Without wasting time, I contacted several people who worked with him. I used every connection I had to track down his location.
One hour later.
I stood in front of an exclusive club that Ray often visited. I knew he was here.
Two large men stood guard at the entrance. One of them blocked my path.
"Sorry, the club is full. Members only."
I lifted my chin and met his gaze coldly. "Don’t be stupid. I need to see Ray."
They exchanged glances before one of them lifted a walkie-talkie.
"Boss, we have a guest asking for you."
A moment later, another man stepped out from inside, whispering something to the guards. Finally, they allowed me to enter.
I walked in with determination.
The club was just as I remembered—VIP booths at the back, dim neon lights, music pounding in my ears.
In a private booth, I spotted Ray sitting with a few others. He was talking while holding a glass of whiskey in his hand.
I strode toward him.
Ray lifted his head, our eyes meeting. He didn’t look surprised, as if he had already expected me to come.
"I need to see Taehyung." I got straight to the point, wasting no time.
Ray let out a slow breath, placing his glass on the table. "Emylia…" His voice was heavy. "No one can see him right now."
I clenched my jaw. "What do you mean?"
Ray leaned back, watching me carefully. "He's under strict supervision. I can’t tell you anything about him."
My heart sank. "You… you're serious?"
Ray nodded slowly.
I shook my head, trying to suppress my frustration. "Ray, I have to see him. I need to know if he's safe or not. I—"
"Emylia." Ray cut me off. "This isn’t something you can force. Taehyung… is in a situation you wouldn’t understand right now."
I clenched my fists. "I’ll do anything. I don’t care."
Ray studied me for a long moment before exhaling heavily. "For now, you can’t see him. That’s all I can tell you."
A sharp pain twisted in my chest. I wanted to scream, to demand that he tell me where Taehyung was.
But I knew Ray wasn’t someone who would bend under pressure.
I took a deep breath, stepping back. "Then I’ll find him myself."
Ray said nothing, only watching me with an unreadable expression.
I turned around and walked out of the club, my heartbeat hammering in my chest.
No matter what it takes, I will find you, Taehyung. I won’t let you be alone.
