Chapter 49

Emylia's POV
A week had passed.
I sat in the office, my mind in turmoil. Every day, I tried to find news about Taehyung, but it all led to dead ends. Ray gave me no answers, and whenever I attempted to investigate on my own, I found nothing.
I knew Jungkook had his own agenda, but he was the only one who gave me answers.
So tonight, I was determined to meet him once again.

I sat in Jungkook's private room at one of Black Fox’s hideouts. He leaned back on the sofa with a thin smirk, as if he had expected me to come.
“No news about Taehyung, right?” he started, his sharp eyes studying me.
I nodded slowly. “You said you had a way to save him.”
Jungkook took a deep breath, pretending to be serious. “The doctor said he needs a kidney and an eye donor. But the problem is, there’s no suitable match.”
My chest tightened. “What do you mean… no match?”
“Taehyung could die at any time, Emylia,” Jungkook replied calmly, as if he was enjoying seeing me trapped in this situation.
I clenched my fingers tightly. My options were dwindling. If there was no donor, Taehyung wouldn’t survive for long.
I swallowed hard. “What if I donate my organs?”
Jungkook raised an eyebrow, unsurprised. “Are you willing to do that?”
I nodded without hesitation. “I’ll do anything to save him.”
Jungkook smirked, as if he had expected my answer. “Alright then… follow me.”
I stood up and followed him without hesitation.

Jungkook took me to a secret location.
Inside the vehicle, he blindfolded me with a black cloth, claiming he didn’t want me to know where we were going. I knew this was just one of his tricks, but I had no other choice.
“I’ve arranged for the doctor to perform the surgery,” Jungkook said quietly. “You just need to follow my instructions.”
I remained silent.
Deep down, I only hoped that whatever happened next, at least Taehyung would be safe.

Emylia’s POV
I lay on the operating table, the bright surgical lights blinding my eyes. My heart pounded, but my resolve was firm—I had to save Taehyung. Jungkook stood beside me with a doctor I didn’t recognize, their faces blurred as my vision began to fade due to the anesthesia.
“Emylia, everything will go smoothly,” Jungkook’s voice was soothing, but there was a hidden deceit beneath it.
Slowly, my consciousness faded, sinking into a comforting darkness.

Hours later, the surgery was over. Emylia remained unconscious, lying weakly on the hospital bed. Jungkook looked at the doctor and nodded.
“Make sure she doesn’t remember anything about today,” Jungkook ordered firmly.
The doctor pulled out a syringe containing benzodiazepine, a drug known to cause short-term memory loss. Without hesitation, he injected it into Emylia’s vein.
“This will ensure she remembers nothing about today,” the doctor said as he put away his equipment.
Jungkook smirked, his eyes cold as he looked at Emylia’s unconscious form. “Good. Make sure she gets sent home safely without any complications.”
With that, Jungkook’s sinister plan proceeded flawlessly, leaving Emylia unaware of the sacrifice she had just made.

Jungkook’s POV
Jungkook sat on a black leather sofa in his room, a cigar between his fingers. Smoke curled into the air, casting faint shadows under the dim light. In front of him, a special cooling container rested on the glass table. Inside, lay the valuable organs freshly removed from Emylia’s body—one kidney and a pair of eyes.
He smiled slightly, full of satisfaction.
“Emylia… you thought you could do whatever you wanted and walk away?” Jungkook muttered as he stared at the container with an icy gaze. “This is the price you have to pay for daring to cancel our deal.”
A tall man, Kris, entered the room with a serious expression. “Boss, the buyer agreed to our price. They’ll come to pick up the organs tonight.”
Jungkook exhaled a slow stream of smoke before standing up and walking toward the container. He tapped the glass lightly with his fingers. “Good. Make sure everything goes smoothly. I don’t want any problems.”
Kris nodded. “Understood, boss. Besides, no one knows where these organs came from. We’ve already erased the medical records.”
Jungkook chuckled. “Exactly. This isn’t just revenge—it’s a huge profit for us. Emylia should be grateful I didn’t take more than this.”
He took another drag of his cigar, exhaling the smoke slowly. “Now, let’s see how long she can last without the organs she willingly gave up without realizing it.”
Outside, the rain fell softly, as if mourning Emylia’s futile sacrifice—and the cruel game Jungkook had just set into motion.
She would remember nothing.
Jungkook stood by the bed, watching Emylia’s unconscious face after the surgery. The medical equipment beeped softly, indicating her body was still functioning—except now, she had lost one kidney and one eye.
The doctor, specially called in to perform the procedure, injected something into Emylia’s IV line. A small bottle of clear liquid rested in his hand.
“This drug will erase specific memories from the past month,” the doctor said professionally. “She won’t remember meeting you. But…” He glanced at Jungkook. “The rest of her memories will remain.”
Jungkook crossed his arms, watching the liquid enter Emylia’s bloodstream.
“Good,” he said quietly. “I want her to remember coming to Black Fox. I want her to know she was tricked, but I don’t want her to remember who I am.”
The doctor simply nodded, unwilling to interfere in Jungkook’s business any more than necessary.
Jungkook stepped closer to the bed, leaning slightly over Emylia’s pale face.
“You thought you could leave this world without paying the price?” he whispered. “This is the cost of your foolish decision.”
He straightened his body and turned to the doctor. "Make sure she's stable before you let her go."
The doctor nodded again.
Jungkook stepped out of the room, leaving Emylia unconscious—and with her memories erased.

Emylia's POV
Dark. Everything was dark.
I woke up with a heavy head, my body weak, and the most terrifying thing—I couldn't see anything. My breathing became shallow. My heart pounded in my chest. I tried to recall what had happened. The last thing I remembered, I had agreed to save Taehyung. I remembered Black Fox promising to take me to him.
But now?
I was in an unfamiliar place—and I was blind.
"Doctor!" I called out, hoping someone was there. Footsteps approached.
"Miss, you're awake? Don't worry, we'll send you home." The man's voice was calm, but I didn’t recognize it.
Home? Home where?
I didn’t ask many questions. I was still trying to calm myself, though my anxiety was pressing down on my chest. They helped me up and led me out of the place. I could feel the car moving, but I had no idea where they were taking me.
Not long after, the car came to a stop.
"Miss, we've arrived."
I still didn’t know where I was. I simply followed when someone took my hand. A few seconds later, I heard a voice I knew very well.
"Emylia?"
I frowned. That voice—my subordinate.
"What’s wrong with you all? I..." I tried to speak, but my throat was dry.
"Master... what happened to your eyes?" My subordinate’s voice trembled as if he couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
"I don’t know... I—I don’t remember." I tried to dig through my memories, but all I knew was that I made a deal with Black Fox. I had given something up to save Taehyung.
"Master, you need to know something." My subordinate's voice was more serious this time. "The doctor who dropped you off… he said there was no patient named Kim Taehyung in need of an eye or a kidney transplant."
The world stopped.
"What?" I whispered, my body starting to tremble.
"Master… you've been tricked."
---
My steps felt heavy, my body still weak. My subordinates helped me into the office, and as soon as I sat down, I let out a long breath. Dark. Everything was still dark. But I didn’t need my sight to know that everyone in the room was looking at me with sympathy.
I didn’t need sympathy. I needed answers.
"Black Fox," my voice was weak but firm. "Find him."
My men fell silent. As if they were hiding something.
"What?" I frowned, growing impatient with the silence.
"Master… we tried. We sent people to every known location linked to Black Fox," one of them spoke. "But..."
I clenched my fists. "But what?"
"He’s gone."
I froze.
"No transaction records, no movements, no one knows where he went. His base is empty. All his people have disappeared. It’s like he never existed."
I took a deep breath. I tried to process the situation, but my mind couldn’t accept the reality. I had been deceived. I had been made a fool of.
I bit my lower lip, trying to suppress the mix of emotions inside me. "I want you all to keep looking. Use any means necessary. I don’t care how much money we need to spend—I want Black Fox in front of me."
My subordinates only nodded. No one dared to object.
I leaned back, trying to gather whatever strength I had left. I was weak. I was blind. I had lost something irreplaceable… and worst of all, I had no idea who Black Fox really was.
But one thing was certain—I would find him.
---
Taehyung's POV
I leaned back on the sofa, eyes closed. Bored.
It had been nearly two weeks since I was trapped in Haesong’s house. Ray and Haesong wouldn’t let me leave, wouldn’t let me do anything, and I couldn’t see anyone. I knew they were doing this to protect me, but I felt like a prisoner in a golden cage.
I missed my freedom.
I missed Emylia.
But every time her name crossed my mind, anger, disappointment, and hatred swirled together. I couldn’t accept what I had heard—Emylia had met with Jungkook.
Why?
I still had no answers. Ray hadn’t gathered enough information yet. And I hated being trapped in this uncertainty.
Knock! Knock!
The sound of a knock on the door. Then, Haesong walked in with a serious expression.
"I’ve successfully transferred Jihoon’s body here," he said without preamble.
I froze. Slowly, I sat up straight. "What?"
"His body is in Korea now. Next week, we’ll bury him here."
Jihoon...
I had tried not to think about him. I had buried my grief, forced myself to endure, pretended to forget. But this—this reality that Haesong just delivered—it hit me straight in the chest.
I lowered my head, my hands gripping my pants. My breathing grew heavier. "Why did you do this?"
Haesong was silent for a moment before he answered, "Because I know you want him to rest in peace."
I couldn’t hold it in anymore. My chest ached, my eyes burned. No matter how hard I tried to resist, the tears fell. I cried.
Jihoon...
He was my enemy. My rival. My brother.
The man who made my life a nightmare, who drove me to insanity, who was full of manipulation. But in the end, he died because of me.
I ran my fingers through my hair. Why did everything turn out this way?
I stood up and grabbed the bottle of alcohol on the table. I didn’t care. I just wanted to forget, even if only for a moment.
But before I could pour it into a glass, Haesong snatched the bottle away.
"Enough, Taehyung," he said firmly.
I looked up, my tear-filled eyes glaring at him. "Give it back."
"Don’t be stupid."
"Haesong, give it back!" I shouted, trying to grab it, but he was faster. He stepped away, his face full of warning.
"You think alcohol will make you forget all this?!" Haesong raised his voice. "You think Jihoon wants to see you like this?!"
I froze. My breathing was still unsteady.
Haesong shook his head. "If you really want to honor him, you can’t be like this, Taehyung."
I lowered my head. I knew he was right. But this pain… it was unbearable.
I wiped my tears roughly. I needed to pull myself together. I needed to be strong.
For Jihoon.
For myself.
As I sat back down on the sofa, trying to calm down after my emotional outburst, Haesong placed the bottle of alcohol far from me before exhaling deeply. "Ray has obtained information about Emylia."
I slowly lifted my head. "And?"
Haesong leaned against the wall, his face serious. "She’s looking for you, but…" He hesitated.
I narrowed my eyes. "But what?"
"Ray found no trace of Jungkook."
I stiffened.
"Black Fox has seemingly vanished from Korea. His entire base is empty. Not a single one of his men can be traced. Jungkook is like a shadow—gone without a trace."
My blood ran cold. Jungkook disappeared?
Impossible. Someone like Jungkook wouldn’t just vanish without a reason.
I clenched my jaw. "So you’re saying… we have no idea where Jungkook is now?"
Haesong nodded slowly.
I clenched my fists. My thoughts became even more chaotic. Jungkook was missing… but Emylia was still here.
I still didn’t understand. Why did Emylia meet Jungkook? What did they talk about? What really happened behind my back?
I ran a hand down my face. The pain in my chest grew stronger.
"I want to see Ray now," I said firmly.
Haesong shook his head. "You're not fully recovered yet, Taehyung. Don’t do anything reckless."
I stared at him sharply. "I’ve been patient long enough. Now I need answers."
Haesong sighed but finally pulled out his phone and dialed a number.
I gripped my pants tightly.
I swore—I would find the truth.
