36. Blind mistake [Arc3]
"Would ya like a sip of water?" One of the guards muttered, offering a cup.
The guard with a shining helmet shook her head side by side.
"Don'cha want to take a rest? Y'all have been on duty since the last moon!" Another guard remarked.
"I'm good, this is safer than being guarded by the Prophet's knights!" The guard replied.
"I guess ya are his friend after all, Tina!"
Tina was one of the trained warriors of the demi-human tribe, she is the daughter of the tribe leader and was often called The Two Tailed Warrior, because of her distinct tail that formed a peculiar shape similar to a 'N-shape'.
Her appearance is a diamond in the mud. Her long and dark eyebrows are vibrant like Angel's feathers, her pink gem eyes are a treasure of the moon, and her smooth and creamy skin like a marble is a product of her own beauty.

Tina shifted her glance at the bushes, she stood up and saw a silver haired boy carrying a girl on his back. She walked closer towards them and the other guard besides her muttered with curious eyes, "What happened to her?"
She stared at the boy and opened her mouth, a gentle voice emerged from it, "Greetings, yuman! This isn't a place for y'all to wonder. What might y'all need'?"
Despite the boy's apparent exhaustion, he grip tightened around the girl, almost as if he were drawing strength from some hidden well within him.
Tina quickly felt the wind of unease, an illuminating aura was engulfing the boy like a cyclone of destruction. 'Did y'all jus' eat a curse?' She asked herself.
"Oow...!, what?" The girl he was currently carrying muttered while sucking her fingers.
When she noticed the girl sucking her fingers, Tina's heart ached. Memories of her own childhood injuries flooded back, and she knelt beside the girl, gently asking, "Are ya hurt, little one?"
The dark wolves emerged, their eyes glowing like embers, fur bristling with shadows as they prowled forward, muscles rippling beneath their sleek coats.
As the first wolf lunged at her, Tina feigned a stumble, drawing it closer. In a swift motion, she rolled to the side and drove her spear into its flank, using its momentum against it.
Dark wolves are distinct from other normal wolves, they have a great eye sight, adaptive fur, poisonous claws and fangs, and they are filled by dark essence making them hard to deal with, especially when the 13th moon, Jinan, wasn't present at night.
As Tina expertly fights the wolves, Miku observes intently, his gaze piercing the shadows. He murmurs, "Notice how they target the slightest hesitation? Fear is their weapon, not just their prey." He then adds, almost as an aside, "I've seen this type of wolf before, in the northern territories. Their behavior is… unusual."
While piercing one of the dark wolves, the other two guards prepared themselves for a fight. Tina threw her helmet to the boy and swung her spear like a bird, using her tail, she unleashed her sword.
The wolves recklessly ran towards Tina and struck her with sharp claws, but Tina dodged it and blew its head with her spear.
As the blood squirts on her face, memories of her childhood came back, her trembling weakness, and the turbo of her mental turmoil snuck inside her feared eyes.
The wail echoed to her mind, the rustling whisper of wind, and the burning stare of the great star, Mira, slowly walked past to her. She was in a bush, holding her cries and trying to move her broken tail.
She tried to become silent the dark wolves never failed to track her, to her meltdown she almost fainted in despair, but a young boy emerged completely killing the wolves with his bare hands. The boy's name is Lino, one of the children of the Waran family, he carried her back to their tribe where she disobeyed the warning of her father to stay away from the forest.
'How sweet!' She muttered while licking the blood on her face as she reminiscent of the fragments of her childhood.
Tina closed her eyes and gently caressed the tip of her spear and swiftly threw it to the running dark wolves. She held down her sword and waited until her sweat touched the ground and parried the wolf's fang.
The remaining dark wolves shifted their head to run away, Tina moved her tail to dash towards them, but a scent of sweet and slimey honey stopped her.
In a split of a second, her eyes turned into a gleaming golden gem, the fur in her tail turned its color into a shining brown leaf, "Sweet...!" She shouted, sending a blast of waves around her.
The blast killed the remaining dark wolves leaving only a silent shadow. Tina changes her gaze back to the boy where the sweet scent was coming from.
After the battle, Tina reached the girl's hand and asked, "Where's ma' honey?"
"No mor', ahmm, ahmmm...!" The girl replied, sucking every drop of honey on her fingers.
After hearing those words Tina's gleaming eyes become dead like rutten flesh, "Wha' do ya mean?" She muttered.
"I eat everything!" The girl exclaimed, pointing her fingers into the empty honeycomb in her pocket.
Tina's dream of swimming on an ocean of honey despairs into a thin air. Demi-human are known for being addicted to sweets especially in honey syrup, but because of that they gained the title of Honey's Simp.
The boy on the other hand grinned and raised his right hand, "How valuable is the fresh honeycomb for you?" He asked.
Tina stood frozen and started to gulp her saliva, "Honey is holyyy waterrr...!, a mother nature's own milk...!" Tina firmly replied.
Miku opens his pouch, the scent of honey filling the air. He says, "This honey is from a rare alpine flower. I understand your people hold honey sacred – a symbol of life and prosperity. I believe this offering will be particularly valued."
"What is it?" Tina threw her sword and held the boy's hand, but the girl riding on her back slapped her fingers.
"Grrrr...! Don'cha try to touch him!" The girl warned, while gritting her teeth.
The other guards pointed their spears and shouted, "What a disgrace! What do ya think yer doin'?"
"Lower yer spear and don'cha bark!" Tina shouted with a piercing glare.
The two quickly step backwards with their tail facing the ground. They knew that they've got a huge blast mistake, it was their first time seeing her narrowing down her eyes and shouting.
"Let's continue y'all's talk!"
"I'm Miku y Salvador, a honey farmer from the north, our small village is raided by bandits and we are forced to flee over the unknown lands" Miku took a paper out of his pocket and showed it to Tina.
"I'm hoping for a safe entrance to your land, and some information about the surroundings, because I'm planning to make my own honey planting here" Miku explained.
Tina carefully read the content of the paper and found nothing suspicious about their identity. She turned into the two guards and whispered, "Informed my mother about this, and helped her make a steady shelter for those kids."
The two guards walked away from the area and Tina threw a sweet glance at the kids. Her dream of swimming in the endless honey aroused in her mouth.
'This is heavenly calling!' She muttered in her thoughts.
Then she tapped the boy's shoulder and muttered, "We are partners in trade!, we will accommodate ya exchange we want ya to teach our kind how to farm honey!"
Tina reaches her hand seeking for a hand shake, without further ado, Miku grabs her hand forming a bond. The girl on her back dismounted and also shook her hands at Tina.
"I'm Lhara, Miku's friend! Don'cha try to hurt him or else–!"
Before she could hold onto her words, Miku struck her head with a gentle pat and muttered, "Don't worry, I think she was kind!"
"Grrr! I’m not a kid anymore!" Lhara responded with a pouting face and walked to follow the two guards.
"Carefully!" Miku muttered.
Lhara turned back her glare, "Bleeeee...!"
Miku smiles the same as Tina, "I tell' y'all have a great companion!"
"Great ha...!?" Miku coldly replied.
The cripping birds suddenly changed their music into silence, Miku slowly walked passing through Tina, his steps were heavily and muzzy, the misty aura was hugging him like a clothes.
As Miku walks toward the tribe entrance, a faint, almost imperceptible shimmer surrounds him. It's gone as quickly as it appears, but Tina notices it, adding to her growing suspicion.
Corpse, souls, spirit, talents, and memories are locked beneath his body, a flesh of monsters. Tina was carefully watching him and she found him really suspicious, it's not only his wounds healed up after the defeat of the dark wolves, but her instinct was telling her something is off.
'What is he hiding?' she wondered, stealing glances at Miku. 'I can’t let my guard down. Not now.'
Tina picked up her sword and pointed its tip on the boy's back head, "Who the heck are y'all? I tell' y'all're not a yuman!" Tina exclaimed, her eyes were sparkling with doubts and frustration.
"What are you talking about? I'm a normal human boy!" Miku replied.
What Tina can see is not a boy, but a man with his early twenties, a creature that is completely vibrant and dark as a shadow. A pale of corpse was following him beneath her feet, and souls were also there holding his body.
"Y'all're not normal unlike the girl with ya!"
Miku stopped and breathed a sigh, "Yes I'm not! The truth is, I was a spy sent by the Prophet's Oracle to investigate the case behind Lino and your tribe...!" Miku muttered glaring at Tina while scratching his head.
"Ya mean that the Prophet's Oracle already took hands on my best friend's case?"
"Yes!, this investigation is hidden so I'm expecting your mouth to shout up and cooperate with me!"
"Best regards! I'm on y'all's side!" Tina muttered.
The two walked and entered the entrance of the demi-human tribe, Miku grinned as he watched the demi-human inside.
'Looks like my plan was working, no wonder that Marquez The Wise and The White Devil's memories are very helpful at this time!' He pondered in his thoughts.Download Novelah App
