Chapter 10: After the Festival

The school festival had come and gone, leaving Soyoung and Chaewol with a collection of cherished memories and a deeper connection. As the days passed, the excitement of the festival slowly faded, but the bond between them only grew stronger.
It was a quiet Monday afternoon when Soyoung and Chaewol found themselves sitting together in a cozy café near the school. The place was filled with the pleasant hum of conversation and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. They had decided to take a break from their busy schedules and simply enjoy each other's company.
Soyoung sipped her hot chocolate, savoring the rich, sweet flavor. “This place is so nice. I’m glad we decided to come here.”
Chaewol nodded, his gaze fixed on her. “Me too. It’s been a while since we had a chance to just relax and talk.”
Soyoung set her mug down and looked at Chaewol with a playful smile. “So, now that the festival is over, what’s next on your agenda? More surprise kisses on stage?”
Chaewol chuckled, leaning back in his chair. “Well, I wasn’t planning on it, but I’m open to suggestions. What about you? Any new ideas for us to try?”
Soyoung’s eyes sparkled with mischief. “Hmm, how about a cooking challenge? We could each make a dish and see who comes up with the best recipe.”
Chaewol raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “A cooking challenge, huh? I’m up for it. But don’t blame me if my dish turns out to be a culinary masterpiece.”
Soyoung laughed, her eyes twinkling. “Oh, I’m sure it will be great. Just don’t expect me to go easy on you.”
They continued to chat and enjoy their drinks, their conversation flowing effortlessly. The café was a perfect backdrop for their relaxed and playful interactions. As they talked, Chaewol reached across the table and took Soyoung’s hand in his.
“You know,” Chaewol said softly, “I’ve been thinking a lot about us lately. The festival was incredible, but what really matters is how much I care about you.”
Soyoung’s heart fluttered at his words. She squeezed his hand gently. “I feel the same way. These past few weeks have been amazing, and I’m so glad to have you in my life.”
Chaewol smiled, his eyes filled with warmth. “I’m glad too. It feels like everything is falling into place.”
As they finished their drinks and prepared to leave, Soyoung and Chaewol walked hand in hand through the charming streets of the city. The weather was crisp and clear, a perfect day for a leisurely stroll.
“So, have you thought about what you want to do after graduation?” Soyoung asked, her curiosity evident.
Chaewol pondered for a moment before answering. “I’ve been thinking about it a lot. I’d like to get involved in something meaningful, maybe work in a field that helps people. What about you?”
Soyoung smiled, her eyes bright. “I’ve always wanted to work in education, maybe become a teacher. I want to help others and make a difference in their lives.”
Chaewol nodded approvingly. “That sounds like a wonderful goal. I’m sure you’d be amazing at it.”
As they walked, they passed a quaint little bookstore with a display of intriguing titles in the window. Chaewol stopped and glanced at Soyoung. “Do you want to check out that bookstore? I heard they have a great selection of books.”
Soyoung’s eyes lit up with excitement. “Yes, I’d love to! Let’s go.”
They entered the bookstore, greeted by the soft rustle of pages and the comforting scent of old books. Soyoung and Chaewol wandered through the aisles, exploring the various genres and discovering new titles.
Chaewol picked up a book and held it out to Soyoung. “What do you think of this one? It looks interesting.”
Soyoung took the book from him and examined the cover. “It does look intriguing. I might just add it to my reading list.”
As they continued browsing, Soyoung came across a section of classic romance novels. She picked up a book with a dreamy cover and held it up to Chaewol. “Look at this one! It’s one of my favorites.”
Chaewol grinned and took the book from her. “Ah, I see you have a soft spot for romance. I should have guessed.”
Soyoung playfully nudged him. “What can I say? I’m a sucker for a good love story.”
Chaewol laughed and leaned in closer. “Well, lucky for me, we’re living our own love story.”
Soyoung’s cheeks flushed with a happy smile. “I guess we are.”
After exploring the bookstore, Soyoung and Chaewol decided to grab a light lunch at a nearby café. They chose a cozy corner table and enjoyed a meal of sandwiches and fresh salads.
As they ate, Soyoung glanced at Chaewol and noticed a thoughtful expression on his face. “Is everything okay?”
Chaewol looked up and smiled. “Yeah, everything’s fine. I was just thinking about how lucky I am to have you in my life.”
Soyoung’s heart warmed at his words. “I feel the same way. You’ve brought so much happiness into my life.”
Chaewol reached across the table and took her hand once more. “I’m excited for what the future holds for us. We have so many adventures ahead.”
Soyoung nodded, her eyes filled with determination. “Absolutely. Whatever comes our way, I know we’ll face it together.”
As they finished their meal, Soyoung and Chaewol walked back to the school grounds, enjoying the pleasant afternoon. They took their time, savoring each moment and appreciating the simple joy of being together.
When they finally reached Soyoung’s house, Chaewol turned to her with a smile. “This has been a wonderful day. I’m glad we spent it together.”
Soyoung’s heart fluttered as she looked at him. “Me too. Thank you for making it so special.”
Chaewol leaned in and kissed her gently on the forehead. “I’ll see you tomorrow. Have a great evening.”
Soyoung watched as Chaewol walked away, her heart full of happiness and contentment. The day had been filled with love, laughter, and meaningful moments, and she knew that their relationship was growing stronger with each passing day.
As she closed the door and headed inside, Soyoung couldn’t help but smile. She was grateful for the wonderful experiences they had shared and looked forward to the many more adventures that awaited them. With Chaewol by her side, she felt ready to embrace whatever the future held.
