Chapter 5: Peaceful Day

Jaehwon returned to his modest apartment, the weight of his recent achievements settling in. He carefully laid out his rewards on the table: the Dark Wolf Fang, the Shadow Dagger, and the 100 stat points he had earned. He couldn’t help but feel a surge of excitement as he examined the items.
The Dark Wolf Fang was an impressive trophy, its dark, almost metallic sheen a testament to the power of the beast it had come from. The Shadow Dagger, on the other hand, was a sleek, black weapon with a blade that seemed to absorb light rather than reflect it.
“Let’s see what we’ve got,” Jaehwon said to himself, his fingers brushing over the items. “First things first—time to allocate these stat points.”
He focused on the system, his mind racing through the possibilities. “Okay, 50 points to magic. I need to enhance my mana pool and improve my Shadow Authority. The rest… let’s put 25 into strength and 25 into health. I need balance to handle whatever comes next.”
The system acknowledged his choices, and Jaehwon could feel the changes taking effect. His mana surged, and he felt a subtle but noticeable increase in his physical strength and health. He flexed his muscles, feeling the newfound power.
“Feels good,” Jaehwon said, admiring his reflection in the nearby mirror. “I’m stronger and more capable now.”
Satisfied, he packed up the Dark Wolf Fang and the Shadow Dagger, ready to sell them at the Hunter Association. The association was a bustling hub of activity, filled with hunters, merchants, and various other figures in the world of adventuring. Jaehwon navigated through the crowded halls, heading straight for the sales desk.
At the desk, a burly man with a thick beard and a no-nonsense attitude looked up as Jaehwon approached. “Welcome to the Hunter Association. What can I do for you today?”
“I’d like to sell these,” Jaehwon said, placing the Dark Wolf Fang and the Shadow Dagger on the counter. “I’ve got a few items from a recent dungeon run.”
The man’s eyes widened slightly as he examined the fang and dagger. “These are impressive finds,” he said, clearly impressed. “Where did you get them?”
“From the Dark Wolf dungeon,” Jaehwon explained. “I just completed the quest and managed to defeat the boss.”
The man raised an eyebrow, clearly interested. “That’s quite an accomplishment. These items should fetch a good price. Let me check their value.”
He took a few moments to assess the items, then looked back at Jaehwon with a grin. “I can offer you a decent sum for these, plus a bit more if you’re willing to part with them quickly.”
Jaehwon nodded, agreeing to the deal. “Sounds good to me. I’m looking to use the money for some supplies and food.”
The transaction was completed, and Jaehwon left the Hunter Association with a pouch of coins, feeling a sense of satisfaction. He had turned his hard-earned rewards into tangible benefits, and now he could focus on other aspects of his journey.
Heading towards a nearby market, Jaehwon’s stomach growled in protest. “First things first—food. I’ve been so focused on everything else that I haven’t eaten properly in days.”
He found a small, cozy eatery with a warm, inviting atmosphere. The smell of freshly cooked food filled the air, and Jaehwon’s mouth watered at the thought of a hot meal. He took a seat at a table near the window and perused the menu.
The waitress, a cheerful young woman with a bright smile, approached his table. “Welcome! What can I get for you today?”
“I’ll have the special of the day,” Jaehwon said, his hunger evident. “And a drink, please.”
The waitress nodded, taking note of his order. “Coming right up! It’s our famous stew—perfect for a hungry adventurer like you.”
As he waited for his meal, Jaehwon glanced around the eatery, taking in the lively atmosphere. He could see families enjoying their meals, friends chatting animatedly, and a group of hunters exchanging stories. It was a pleasant contrast to the grim setting of the dungeon.
His food arrived shortly, and Jaehwon dug in with gusto. The stew was rich and hearty, the flavors blending perfectly to create a comforting dish. He savored each bite, feeling the fatigue of his recent battles melt away.
“This is amazing,” Jaehwon said, a contented sigh escaping his lips. “I needed this.”
After finishing his meal, Jaehwon set out to buy some supplies. He visited various shops, picking up essentials like food rations, a new set of armor, and potions to replenish his mana and health. The city’s bustling market provided a wide array of options, and Jaehwon took his time selecting the best items for his needs.
By the time he finished his shopping, the sun was setting, casting a golden hue over the city. Jaehwon made his way back to his apartment, the weight of his new supplies and the satisfaction of a productive day heavy on his shoulders.
Back at his apartment, he carefully stowed away his purchases, his thoughts already shifting to the future. The amulet, the Shadow Authority, and his new abilities were all exciting, but Jaehwon knew there was still much to learn and achieve.
“I’ve come a long way,” Jaehwon said to himself, staring at the amulet hanging around his neck. “But this is just the beginning. There’s more to discover, more challenges to face.”
He smiled, feeling a renewed sense of purpose. “I’m ready for whatever comes next.”
With that, Jaehwon settled into a comfortable chair, ready to rest and prepare for the adventures that awaited him. The journey ahead was uncertain, but with his newfound strength and determination, he was confident that he could face anything the world had in store for him.
