Chapter 11: Dungeon Break

The shadowy mist of the arena had dissipated, and Jaehwon stood in the dimly lit chamber, his breath still coming in heavy gasps. The Shadow Butler approached, a look of approval in his eyes.
“Congratulations, Jaehwon,” the Shadow Butler said, his voice echoing in the silence. “You have successfully completed the first trial. As a reward, you receive the Shadow Cloak and Shadow Ring.”
With a graceful gesture, the Shadow Butler conjured a sleek, dark cloak and a finely crafted ring. The cloak seemed to shimmer with an ethereal quality, while the ring glowed with a faint, otherworldly light.
Jaehwon took the items, feeling their weight and energy. “These are incredible. How do they work?”
“The Shadow Cloak enhances your physical strength and agility, allowing you to move more swiftly and strike with greater force,” the Shadow Butler explained. “The Shadow Ring amplifies your shadow abilities, giving you greater control and power over your shadow-based skills.”
Jaehwon examined the ring closely. “This is going to be a game-changer. What’s next?”
The Shadow Butler’s expression softened. “You have completed the first trial, but you will have a five-day break before resuming the trials. Use this time to rest and prepare. You will return to your world during this period.”
Jaehwon nodded, feeling a mixture of relief and anticipation. “I’ll make sure to use this time wisely. Thank you for everything.”
With a final nod, the Shadow Butler vanished into the shadows, and the chamber began to dissolve. Jaehwon felt the familiar pull of the portal as he was transported back to his world.
---
Back in his small apartment, Jaehwon sighed with relief as he landed in his living room. The transition from the shadow realm had left him disoriented, but he quickly adjusted to the familiar surroundings. He glanced around, noting the peaceful stillness of his home.
“Well, this is nice,” Jaehwon murmured to himself. “Time to catch up on some rest and maybe watch a bit of TV.”
He walked over to his television, planning to unwind with some entertainment. Just as he was about to turn it on, a loud crash reverberated through the apartment. Jaehwon’s heart raced as he turned to see his television shattered, its screen splintered and dark.
“What the—” Jaehwon started, but his confusion turned to horror as he saw the cause of the destruction.
A massive, grotesque creature emerged from the wreckage, its form a horrifying amalgamation of claws, fangs, and shadowy tendrils. The creature roared, its eyes glowing with a fierce, malevolent light. It was an S-rank dungeon monster, far beyond anything Jaehwon had faced before.
Jaehwon’s instincts kicked in, and he scrambled for his newly acquired Shadow Cloak and Shadow Ring. As he donned the cloak and slipped the ring onto his finger, he felt a surge of power and clarity. The shadows around him seemed to respond to his command, swirling and coalescing with renewed intensity.
“What’s going on? How did a dungeon break into my apartment?” Jaehwon shouted, trying to make sense of the chaos. The creature roared again, its massive form looming over him.
He took a deep breath and focused, summoning the power of the Shadow Ring. “Alright, let’s see what these new abilities can do.”
The creature lunged at him with a vicious swipe of its claws. Jaehwon dodged, the enhanced agility from the Shadow Cloak allowing him to move with surprising speed. He retaliated with a series of swift strikes, using his shadow powers to create illusions and distractions.
“Come on, Jaehwon!” he muttered, determination steeling his resolve. “You can handle this!”
The battle was intense, with the monster’s brute strength and ferocity testing Jaehwon’s newly acquired abilities. He maneuvered around the creature, using the shadows to his advantage. With each attack, he felt a growing confidence in his newfound power.
Finally, with a decisive maneuver, Jaehwon unleashed a powerful shadow blast, aimed directly at the monster’s core. The creature let out a final, agonized roar before collapsing in a cloud of dark energy.
Breathing heavily, Jaehwon stood amidst the wreckage of his apartment, the remnants of the battle scattered around him. He looked at the shattered remains of his television and the dark, smoky residue left by the creature.
“Guess I wasn’t expecting this kind of welcome home,” Jaehwon said with a wry smile, trying to lighten the mood despite the chaos.
He checked his system, noticing the increased stats from his recent trials and the bonuses from the Shadow Cloak and Ring. His heart was still racing, but he felt a surge of pride and accomplishment.
“What a way to test these new abilities,” Jaehwon murmured. “Time to clean up and figure out what’s next.”
As he began to tidy up the mess and assess the damage, Jaehwon couldn’t shake the feeling that this was just the beginning of something much larger. The S-rank dungeon break was a clear sign that his journey was far from over, and he needed to be prepared for whatever challenges lay ahead.
His thoughts drifted back to the Shadow Trials and the upcoming trials. He was determined to continue growing stronger, mastering his shadow powers, and facing the dangers that awaited him.
With renewed resolve, Jaehwon finished cleaning up and prepared himself for the days ahead, knowing that each trial and challenge would bring him closer to achieving his ultimate goal.
